Abby was my least favorite character in the show. I can't say I'm sad to see her go. I like the replacement, Ducky's assistant. It sounds like Perette is as unhinged a drama queen as Abby is.
Multiple physical assaults? If true, who could possibly get a way with that? Thomas Gibson got canned when he got physical with a crew member. The show runner or Harmon would be the only ones with the power to get away with it.
Maybe she was referring to dangerous stunt work, but Abby really didn't do anything physical. Recall that Diane Neal complained about safety on the set of NCIS New Orleans on some ill-advised drunk tweets and it pretty much killed her career. Her character hasn't been back at all and I don't think she has any acting credits post-NCIS

Mark Harmon has been weird with the females on the show. Sasha Alexander left after only two seasons (a real shame, because she was the best in that role). She explained that she had her reasons, but nothing that she would be talking about. They got rid of her with a sudden bullet to the forehead. Then came Lauren Holly, who lasted - what was it, three or four seasons? But the NCIS fanboys had trouble accepting a female as Harmon's "boss" on the show. So she was killed off - doubly, with an explanation that she was dying of cancer just before she went out in a hail of bullets. Then Cote de Pablo - who had the audacity to feel she should be paid commensurate with what the other seconds in command, Michael Wetherly, and Sean Murphy were making. CBS wouldn't budge, Harmon begged and she refused. She was sent off in an unsatisfying two parter, and Harmon did not participate in her goodbye. Two years ago, when Wetherly left, Harmon had Ziva permanently killed off (explaining that she was killed but left a daughter that was Tony's). So none of these ladies will be making return visits. Two of his best female guest stars were Wendy Makkena as Dr. Rachel Cranston, Caitlyn's sister, and Diana Neal as a Coast Guard captain. They both worked well with Harmon and both have been missing from the show for some time.

Can you elaborate? I thought Sasha Alexander left because of the crazy filming schedule (same reason Harmon threatened to leave a year or two later). The show was so poorly organized that script pages were delivered to the actors just before they shot scenes and so days on set were extremely long. Alexander wanted to start a family, but couldn't under the circumstances
I found Lauren Holly's supporting tweet interesting. You would think if the "abuse" has been going on for so long (10+ years), something would have leaked out by now.

Sasha Alexander was back twice since she left, r38. She also liked that her character went out the way it did.
And, apparently, Cote pulled a semi-Mandy Patinkin and decided to leave a week or two before shooting on the new season was supposed to start. Even David McCallan didn't have nice things to say about the way she handled her exit.

If the Radar story is correct then he did get the dog a dog-sitter after the incident. The sitter couldn't make it in one day and he asked everyone, including the person who was bit if they were okay with the dog coming in for a day and only Perrette had an issue and never got over it.

Well, if one person had an issue with a dog that caused someone to get 16 stitches that is a problem. There are hundreds of good kennels and places to board dogs that would have loved to have his dog. One of his PAs could have driven the dog there. Plus, I thought a read after that he kept bringing the dog.

Lauren Holly and Holly Marie Combs were both on Picket Fences a David E. Kelly show. He also produced Chicago Hope which had Mark Harmon and LH (and Rocky Carroll) on the cast and currently produces Pretty Little Liars that HMC stars in. No idea about Frances Fisher.

Dear, sweet Pauley aged out of her contract. This is her way of maintaining the 'celebrity' factor, casually jumping on the 'Me, Too' the movement at the moment she 'retired' (was fired). (I don't recall her publicly claiming abuse and therefore coming forward to support this important cause earlier than now.)

More on the whole thing.
The final farewell between Gibbs and Abby was manipulated so that Perrette and Harmon didn't actually appear together (she "stood across the street" to say goodbye - can't remember the reason). It was similar to the way the final goodbye between Archie Panjabi and Juliana Margulies was filmed separately and spliced together.

She even threw him a suprise party on the set and Sasha Alexander seemed to have more issue with Bellasario's chaotic magament style that led to longer than needed shooting schedules. Not sure what CdP's issues were other than what the guy who plays said about her abrupt departure.
