She deserves credit for saving 90210's ratings when Shannen Doherty left. Valerie was an interesting role for her considering how bland and squeaky-clean Kelly Kapowski was. She was great as the troubled femme fatale and was the hottest bitch on the show.

Kelly Taylor was supposed to be slutty but Jennie really had no sex appeal and always looked so frigid. Shannen was supposed to be the "good girl" with Brenda at first but Shannen was too sultry and vampish for that to work, I loved how Brenda became more and more rebellious as the show went. She would have evolved to become more like Valerie if Shannen could have stayed on.
