Her new old lady do is problematic.

by Anonymousreply 1May 15, 2019 12:51 AM

She's smart, she's witty and she cuts through the bullshit

But I've more or less had enough of her now.

by Anonymousreply 2May 15, 2019 12:52 AM

I wish I could have her with me all day settling all of my grievances.

by Anonymousreply 3May 15, 2019 12:52 AM

She’s a horrendous cunt.

by Anonymousreply 4May 15, 2019 12:52 AM

I still like her but I take a break once in awhile.

by Anonymousreply 5May 15, 2019 12:53 AM

I like her drag version— Bianca Del Rio.

by Anonymousreply 7May 15, 2019 12:54 AM

Her new hair makes me feel uncomfortable.

by Anonymousreply 8May 15, 2019 12:56 AM

Shge is going for the school marm look not the syndication star who makes 60 million dollars a year.

by Anonymousreply 10May 15, 2019 12:59 AM

R7 Bianca is cute and funny.

by Anonymousreply 11May 15, 2019 12:59 AM

she's wonderful in person and a fantastic tipper.

by Anonymousreply 12May 15, 2019 12:59 AM

R8 I liked the set, hair roller look she used to have. She should try a bob her hair is long compared to before.

by Anonymousreply 13May 15, 2019 1:01 AM

R12 you are lucky! You waited on her? I am guessing either Connecticut or Southern California.

by Anonymousreply 14May 15, 2019 1:02 AM

^^^^ My daughter lives in LA and has waited on her several times. She says she is just a delight.

by Anonymousreply 15May 15, 2019 1:04 AM

I don't. I've never watched any of the television judges; I've always found the very idea appalling.

by Anonymousreply 17May 15, 2019 1:31 AM

If you've never watched how would you know?

by Anonymousreply 18May 15, 2019 1:32 AM

Her legal reasoning is sometimes questionable.

by Anonymousreply 19May 15, 2019 1:38 AM
If you've never watched how would you know?

R18, one need not watch any of them to find the [italic]idea[/italic] of television judges appalling. Commercial advertisements and various other forms of coverage let one know exactly what they are; like Christmas, a cultural awareness of them is inescapable. I've also never seen a single episode of 'Duck Dynasty,' but I don't need to in order to know that it's pure shit.

I avoid reality tv like the plague.

by Anonymousreply 21May 15, 2019 4:10 AM

Can't stand the self-righteous cunt.

by Anonymousreply 22May 15, 2019 4:14 AM

I like her, sometimes she pisses me off and I wish she could actually get that sometimes police, yes, do lie, but overall I like her.

by Anonymousreply 23May 15, 2019 4:18 AM

For anyone who's watched consistently over the years, has anyone ever clapped back at Judy? Considering how nasty she can be, you would think by now that there would've been someone unwilling to put up with it and take her on (even if it meant losing their case).

But then, if it has ever happened, I'm sure the producers edited it out because they probably felt it wouldn't be good for Judy's image as a take-no-guff badass if someone is seen telling her to go fuck herself.

by Anonymousreply 24May 15, 2019 6:11 AM

Stop calling her a cunt && jewpuss. She's fabulous, kicks ass, and says it like it is. You boys are all afraid of her because she's got bigger balls than you.

by Anonymousreply 25May 15, 2019 6:28 AM

I think she’s one smart cookie to go from a NYC Family Court judge to the $60 Million Judge!

But I don’t like when she’s so dismissive of step-parents, telling them they have nothing to do with the spouse’s child. She’s a step-parent! I highly doubt she had nothing to say about how those kids were raised - can’t see her sitting back and just letting her husband and his ex make decisions without her getting involved.

I also don’t like how nasty she can sometimes be towards people on assistance - “some country” or “I don’t know what’s happening to this country” are her usually asides when a litigant is on assistance.

I suspect she’s like Joan Rivers in that politically, she would tend to be more socially liberal, but would vote for the one who supported Israel more. That’s a big thing in NYC with Jews of that generation.

Finally, I can’t help but wonder why some of these litigants go on this show! So many are airing personal, dirty laundry - how are they not embarrassed after??

by Anonymousreply 26May 15, 2019 6:42 AM

Her dad was my dentist for about 10 years when I was a kid. He was always kind to me, so I have a soft spot for her. I like her no nonsense, take no prisoners approach, but sometimes she is needlessly mean to people who have done nothing wrong.

by Anonymousreply 27May 15, 2019 6:44 AM

Her best friends are Cindy Adams and Barbara Walters. How much fun can she be?

by Anonymousreply 28May 15, 2019 6:46 AM

R24, it's happened many times over the years. Hard to pin down specific videos, since JJ clips and episodes get pulled on YouTube very quickly and regularly. But here's one example:

A friend once commented on Judge Judy’s meanness with the remark “Judge Judy is what’s wrong with America - someone making $40 million yelling at and belittling people living on welfare”.

by Anonymousreply 31May 15, 2019 7:21 AM

I wish they would put her old episodes on demand. Would love to see how the show started out.

by Anonymousreply 32May 15, 2019 8:15 AM

Shes better than that worthless Byrd. A mill a year or more o stand there and do crossword puzzles while being surly.

by Anonymousreply 35May 15, 2019 8:52 AM

You can tell she’s a racist. Immediately rolls her eyes when a defendant starts speaking in Ebonics.

by Anonymousreply 36May 15, 2019 11:50 AM

She was tolerable 15-20 years ago.

I can't stand to watch her anymore.

by Anonymousreply 37May 15, 2019 12:02 PM

I love a bitch who takes no gruff. Society would be better off with a million Judge Judy’s raising the chillrens these days. And you know it.

by Anonymousreply 38May 15, 2019 12:19 PM
You can tell she’s a racist. Immediately rolls her eyes when a defendant starts speaking in Ebonics.

I don't imagine[bold] for a minute[/bold] she's a racist. But people throw that insult around willy nilly these days.

She's also very vociferously pro-gay marriage.

by Anonymousreply 39May 15, 2019 12:28 PM

Love Judy. She has her flaws, but don't we all? If America so desperately wanted a celebrity President, they should have picked Judy over Trump.

by Anonymousreply 46May 15, 2019 1:32 PM

A few run-ins with her and her husband. When her husband, Jerry, was the judge on The Peoples Court I was on as a Plaintiff with my mom v.s. a construction company.Case was thrown out of court in the end…long story, but he is an giant douch bag….and there is a restaurant in Westchester county, in Yorktown Heights, that Judy and Jerry would frequent as did my parter and I. We often saw them there and of course kept one eye on them during the meal….the one take away was that they NEVER spoke to each other at all during dinner, just ordered and ate in silence….very odd….she seemed pleasant and the waiter did say she tipped extremely well…….

by Anonymousreply 47May 15, 2019 1:50 PM

R36, I can tell she really loves men. I always got the feeling that she REALLY likes black men.

by Anonymousreply 48May 16, 2019 12:27 AM

I find it cringe-inducing the way she is constantly offering Bert up as a paradigm of common sense. Underneath his yes-ma'am attitude, you can almost see him roll his eyes whenever she invokes his name.

by Anonymousreply 49May 16, 2019 12:48 AM

She's been around the block many times, she's seen it all. She has no patience for people's bullshit and the havoc they reek on others, especially children and dogs. I find if the people are trying to act responsibly (having a job, going to school, fulfilling roles), she is on their side. It all comes from her background.

I don't know the specifics, but my guess is that her grandparents were immigrants. Her father and mother worked very hard, long days. Her mother was the receptionist for her father, a dentist/orthodontist. The office rooms comprised the front part of their semi-attached home in a middle-class Brooklyn neighborhood. Her judge persona is her mother, in real life I think she is probably more like her father (going by interviews), who was very gentle, kind, intelligent all in a very quiet way and liked to laugh. She is a second or third generation Brooklyn Jew. They valued education, literacy and wisdom above everything, placed great value on contributing to society, taking leadership roles, and fulfilling one's responsibilities. They achieved extraordinary things.

by Anonymousreply 50May 16, 2019 12:56 AM

I wonder how much Officer Byrd get paid. He looks VERY bored and rather surly.

He tries to read the documents before handing them to the judge.

by Anonymousreply 51May 16, 2019 12:56 AM

R51, I think he makes a million a year.

by Anonymousreply 52May 16, 2019 12:59 AM

If you catch a glimpse of his clipboard, he's often doing a crossword puzzle. It is all a funny shtick, actually.

by Anonymousreply 53May 16, 2019 1:00 AM

Its actually not funny. There are people who work hard for a zillionth of what he makes who would be glad to switch places with him and do the job they're paid for. I'm surprised, with as merciless as she is with the supposed deadbeats she comes across, that she lets him flaunt the fact hat he barely does shit on that show and, even then, preoccupies himself with games. I dont care if he is her friend andthey've worked.together for centuries-she's a hypocrite.

by Anonymousreply 54May 16, 2019 1:07 AM

I'm so on edge these days that if Judge Judy started yelling at me, I'd throw my dinner at the telly.

She is smart and can be funny.

by Anonymousreply 57May 16, 2019 1:13 AM

I need the old Judy hair back.

by Anonymousreply 58May 16, 2019 1:38 AM

What a vile human, ugly on the inside and outside. She has a career, and tons of money, based on belittling people, usually uneducated POC. I cannot stand the way she talks down to people. There is absolutely nothing funny or charming about this nasty old witch. I assume she's a Republican? I wouldn't be surprised.

Judge Marilyn is a much better TV judge, she's smart, sharp, funny, attractive and she rarely ever talks down to anyone in her court room, even the utter morns, Judge Marilyn treats with respect.

I've never understood the appeal of Judge Judy, there's absolutely nothing warm or engaging about this sour faced money grubber. How she gets paid so much money is beyond me, 45 million a year? For WHAT? I guess shut-ins enjoy watching garbage all day.

by Anonymousreply 59May 16, 2019 2:02 AM

Hers was the very first TV "courtroom" show (legally it's arbitration) to have on openly gay litigants. None of the other shows would touch our cases at the time, including Judge Marilyn. And she was always a vocal supporter of gay marriage. She has always made it clear that if you are a citizen, you deserve equal rights and opportunity under the law.

by Anonymousreply 60May 16, 2019 2:33 AM

R53 Officer Byrd is there to make the show acceptable because I reckon 55% of the litigants are Af-Ams.

by Anonymousreply 61May 16, 2019 2:37 AM

No, Byrd is there because he he was her bailiff for twenty years when she was a NY Family Court judge. When he heard she was going to do a court TV show he wrote her and said if the show was going to have a bailiff, he'd like to apply for the job. She accepted immediately.

by Anonymousreply 62May 16, 2019 3:09 AM

I love your post R50. A lot of information, truth, good sense and compassion there. Thanks.

by Anonymousreply 63May 16, 2019 3:16 AM

r50 "She is a second or third generation Brooklyn Jew. They valued education, literacy and wisdom above everything, placed great value on contributing to society, taking leadership roles, and fulfilling one's responsibilities."

What a bunch of Jewish collective narcissism bull shit.

They valued/value their Jewish Chosenite tribe and Jewish state of Israel more than everything else. Contributing to society has nothing to do with it. Just look at the decline of America since they really took control of the US 6-7 decades ago.

And then those NYC Jews helped Israel orchestrate the 9/11 attacks, with Jewish judges overseeing every single case related to 9/11. NYC Jews took control of the WTC towers just 6 weeks before 9/11, and the big Israeli (Mossad front) shipping company with offices in the WTC made plans to vacate immediately after Lucky Larry Silverstein took control. And that company, Zim Shipping, moved out of the WTC just a few days before 9/11.

And right now those plucky Brooklyn Jews are dragging the US into yet another multi-trillion dollar war for Israel, this time against Iran.

So much for contributing to society.

by Anonymousreply 64May 16, 2019 3:40 AM

Those plucky Jewish immigrants were almost all communist revolutionaries, like Bernie Sanders and his parents. They didn't come here to contribute to society and assimilate. Even today they don't consider themselves American patriots, and they lead the attack any time somebody says that the US should put America first and stop fighting wars all over the world for Israel and Jewish banking interests.

You think Bernie Sanders or Chuck Schumer or Judge Judy consider themselves American patriots? They are Israeli patriots, and they even pretend that there's no such thing as an Israel-First American Jew.

All they care about is what is good for the Jews.

As Brooklyn Jew Alan Dershowitz wrote, he would come home and tell his mother about some commotion on his walk home, and she would only reply, "Yes, but is it good for the Jews?"

by Anonymousreply 65May 16, 2019 3:47 AM

Actually r62, what Byrd wrote her in his congratulatory letter was that if her show needed a bailiff he still looked good in his uniform. And she then called him from NY to CA to ask him to take the job.

by Anonymousreply 66May 16, 2019 3:55 AM

Yeah, we get it, r65, you're an anti-Semite. Sorry no one's been paying attention to your numerous posts.

by Anonymousreply 67May 16, 2019 4:01 AM

Yeah, we get it, r67, you're an anti-American Jewish supremacist posing as a good citizen, and defending your tribe from all justified criticism.

by Anonymousreply 68May 16, 2019 4:07 AM

Why does anyone feel the need to defend this beast? Who cares that she was one of the first TV judges to have openly gay litigants or that she hired her former bailiff for her TV show. That has nothing to do with her horrible demeanor.

by Anonymousreply 69May 16, 2019 7:05 AM

by Anonymousreply 71May 17, 2019 5:35 AM

I started liking her when I saw an episode involving a cute little kid up on the witness stand. This little kid (boy, maybe 8 years old) started telling his story. Judge Judy listened then said, "You're lying!" She cut right through his bullshit and called him on it.

Violence is never the answer, step away from the computer before you become directly responsible for a child having her head shot off.

by Anonymousreply 79May 17, 2019 10:15 AM

r79 supports the Jewish media telling black people that they can't be racist against white people, but that blacks CAN be anti-Semitic.

Like any orthodox rabbi, r79 believes that one Jewish fingernail is worth more than a million goyishe lives.

Black on white hate crimes are an epidemic, but we are constantly told by r79's tribe that black people can't even be racist, unless they target Jews of course.

r79 also supports closed borders, high walls, and as much racial purity as possible for Israel, because r79 knows that diversity is a weakness, not a strength. But r79 also supports open borders for the USA, because that too is good for the Jews.

by Anonymousreply 80May 17, 2019 6:19 PM

r79 wants blacks to think that whites can't be victims of racism and hate crimes, because whites control the system.

Whites don't actually control the system, Jews do, and Jews earn more than twice as much as white people.

But r79 thinks it is more moral to lie about white people than it is to tell the truth about Jews.

I was never into it, she's too nasty to people over petty amounts of money. There are more enjoyable shows to watch in my opinion. She's RuPaul's idol and I finally found out why, he says she both looks and acts just like his mother did. Apparently she was a bitch-on-wheels too and Ru was one of the few people who got along with her.

by Anonymousreply 87May 20, 2019 7:39 PM

She's a double-holed cunt.

by Anonymousreply 88May 24, 2019 1:34 AM

I like it when Judy takes my face and just slams it down between her legs. She screams, “Eat my Jew cunt!”

by Anonymousreply 89May 24, 2019 3:09 AM

She's getting into bad habits.

She keeps talking about herself and placing herself into the conflict instead of being an impartial adjudicator.

She's getting into the habit of dismissing cases and sending them back to a regular Small Claims Court (which I assume absolves her of paying the penalty).

by Anonymousreply 90September 30, 2019 6:28 AM

Do any of you remember Judy having a gavel?

by Anonymousreply 91September 30, 2019 6:30 AM

I love watching her. She's my guilty pleasure. I especially love it when she figures out that people are trying to scam her, and she ends up sending them back to their own jurisdiction, without prejudice. The shocked look when they realize that they couldn't fool her.

But...

I would never, EVER, appear on her show, either as a plaintiff or defendant, no matter how positive I was about my case.
She's getting into the habit of dismissing cases and sending them back to a regular Small Claims Court (which I assume absolves her of paying the penalty).

But they still have to pay the appearance fee for the litigants. And of course all their travel and lodging costs.
Both the plaintiff(s) and the defendant(s) also receive an appearance fee. The appearance fee amount has varied as between different litigants of the show: certain litigants have reported receiving a $500 appearance fee while others have reported receiving $100, and others $250. In addition to the appearance fee amount, litigants are paid $35 a day by the show. The litigants' stay lasts for the number of days that the show does taping for that week, which is two or three days. In addition, the airfare (or other means of travel) and hotel expenses of the litigants and their witnesses are covered by the show, and the experience is generally treated as an all-expense-paid vacation outside of the actual court case. If there is an exchange of property, Sheindlin signs an order, and a sheriff or marshal oversees the exchange. Sheindlin sees only a half-page complaint and a defense response prior to the taping of the cases, sometimes only moments before. Most of the cases, not including any footage deleted to meet the time constraints of the show, usually last anywhere from twelve to forty-five minutes.

by Anonymousreply 98September 30, 2019 11:55 AM

Trash TV for fraus in poverty.

She may be still very popular but looking at the demographics of her viewership tells the real story. Her primary audience are minority women, older than average, and of lower income. The very people Judge Judy denigrates on her show are her viewers. Just look at the typical advertisers on her show for further proof, which in my area are personal injury attorneys, incontinence pads, and used car dealers. It’s almost pathological that she hates the people who watch and live her show. It says a lot about the intelligence level of the poor in this country.

Personally, Judy is vulgar in her tastes. Even Oprah isn’t so gauche as to wear such large diamond solitaire earrings. Just because they are expensive doesn’t mean they look good, Judy.

by Anonymousreply 99September 30, 2019 12:48 PM

I found her entertaining in a cheesy way for the first year or two of her tenure. But it's the same schtick again and again. Hard to believe she's still going strong 20+ years later, and I agree with whoever said it shows the IQ of her audience.

by Anonymousreply 100September 30, 2019 12:54 PM

Judge Judy should retire because she's waaaay too obnoxious now. And jesus, she's almost 80 fucking years old.

I've switched to HOT BENCH to see my new gay judge idol, the delicious Brooklynite, Patti DiMango. She's a tough talking 66 year old who dresses like a whore when she's not in her judge robe. There should be a DL thread about her!

R26 As far as making comments about stepparents, grandparents and other touchy family matters, she's not bloviating her biased opinion - she's stating what the law is regarding familial relationships and responsibility. Many people come into the courtroom and argue based on emotion; she has to follow the law which doesn't always line-up with personal feelings. Words matter in legal proceedings which is why she's not rude when she says " 'Um' is not an answer". Many litigants think she is just correcting their manners, but she needs them to state clear "yes" or "no" answers for the court record. There is no equivocating in court.

She's a fact-finder. She needs to collect facts in order to make a judgment and if someone can't or won't provide what she needs in order to do that, she can't help them. She doesn't put up with nonsense and she knows it's a TV show. There's already an element of playing to the camera. Much of the "nastiness" is clearly for entertainment value. The litigants don't have to have their case heard in front of Judge Judy; they could stay in their jurisdiction and be heard in small claims court. They know what they're signing up for. They're also paid a fee to appear, they get plane fare and hotel accommodations, and monetary judgments are paid by the show, not the defendant. That's why people seem angrier when the case has to do with physical things they can't get back such as property, pets, cars, etc...

by Anonymousreply 102September 30, 2019 7:34 PM

I have noticed that she is sending a lot of them back to where they came from I wonder if she’s worried about possible legal action from her mediator decision? If I remember correctly basically her show is binding arbitration

by Anonymousreply 103September 30, 2019 8:58 PM
I wonder if she’s worried about possible legal action from her mediator decision?

No, I think that she suspects that the plaintiff and the defendant have colluded to have one win the money and then split it afterwards. For instance, one says that s/he lent the other $5000 and was never paid. It's a verbal agreement with very little corroborating evidence. If Judy smells a scam, then it's back to their own jurisdiction.

Sometimes the scams are really convincing, but after Judy's examination of the both parties, something seems amiss. She's really good at ferreting out a scam.

by Anonymousreply 104October 2, 2019 7:30 AM
