Zohra Lampert - Anyone remember?

I remember her as Warren Beatty's wife in Splendor in the Grass and as Robert Redford's girlfriend in an Alfred Hitchcock TV episode. Zohra had an odd beauty about her. I know she was doing Goya Bean commercials 30 years ago so I'm guessing her career went down the shitter. I loved the cadence of her voice...Did anyone know her?

Letβs Scare Jessica to Death is in my top three favorite horror films.
I didnβt like it much as a youngster but as I got older Iβve come to appreciate it greatly.
Very quiet and subdued horror.

She was of that era of off-beat actresses like Louise Lasser.
When I was going to school in NY in the 70s I was waitering at a burger joint. Zohra Lampert was a customer. I always saw her alone. Very normal NYer. Kind of dowdy.

Add Barbara Harris to the quirky list.
Like Zohra, a brilliant actress and comedienne (I think they may have both begun at Chicago's 2nd City?), and both with adorable faces that belied a more complex side. They had no patience for Hollywood stardom and, perhaps, the feeling was mutual.
I actually worked briefly with Zohra in the early 1970s. She was quite lovely. Very earthy and sensual vibe but tended to overthink everything, which ultimately got in her way.

It must be mentioned that that Broadway production of MOTHER COURAGE was what kept Anne Bancroft from accepting her Oscar and pissing Bette Davis off no end.

In her little scene with Warren Beatty at the end of Splendour in the Grass, she behaves so oddly, almost mentally-challenged. It's like she's in a different film. Or maybe it's Natalie and Warren who are in a different film.

R36 / R37 Zohra knew Warren from his college days. He was a big man and she waited tables in her parents' pizza place. In those scenes, she played very shy and 'not worthy' of the boys's attention. The scene at the end made sense; she was probably felt intimidated by Natalie and her beautifully dressed friends, knowing that was Warren's old crowd.
