Why is Kelly Clarkson everywhere?

She's been anointed the successor to Ellen and Oprah, the new afternoon talk show queen. She judges The Voice. Tonight she's being presented by NBC as Christmas incarnate in her own special.

I find her aggressively mediocre. She can sing. But so could Marie Osmond and Toni Tennille.

Who decided this obese country caterwauler was the new all-purpose host and entertainer of her generation? Is no one else available?

I’m actually watching the Christmas show and there is a definite appeal to her. She’s a talker and the type of person who would probably exhaust me in real life. But seems to really put herself out there.

And yes she is obese and her stylist secretly hates her (although the powder blue dress was very pretty).

Her voice blows away thin-sounding vocal stylings of Marie Osmond and Toni Tenille.

And at 5'3" and well over 200 lbs, she is most certainly obese. However, i don't really care.

I haven't seen her show so can't comment on it.

What's with the hate? You know the reason she is everywhere. She is nice, friendly, has talent, won the first American Idol and the most successful of the contestants. She is heavyset and white with a bland face and a country accent. She appeals to Middle America in every possible way. She seems liberal and open-minded (probably bi or lesbian but that's another topic) which makes her far more likable than Gwen Stefani and Candace Cameron.

She is a good singer, with a friendly demeanor, and a compelling narrative. I like her well enough, and don’t see that she has much competition. She is in desperate need of a makeover. Those hideously floral patterned frocks with black stockings are barfworthy. 🤮 It looks as though she is dressed by Walmart, it is cruel to let her go on stage like that. She is not an unattractive woman. She has geighs around her, come on, gurrrls!

She’s has a powerful voice and a proven ability to interpret many types of music. One of the few true talents to come out of the singing contest tv show genre.

I like her. And while she’s obviously driven, I don’t get a hidden mean girl vibe I did with Rosie and Ellen. Maybe we just need a Kelly Clarkson right now.

I love her. Sometimes I'm surprised she gets the rights to sing some of her covers because she often sounds better than the original. You can also tell when she doesn't like one of her talk show guests. She just had Jeremy Renner on her show and you could tell she thought he was a dick.

She is undeniably talented. I think some gay find her too bland and safe. She's not bitchy or tragic as per the gay diva stereotype. She's happy and doing her thing, it's good she's not like Britney or Mariah. I o wish Kelly had better management in the 2000s, most of her songs are such forgettable pop rock that were sorta dated already when they got released. She wasted her talent on that type of stuff.

Kelly was big in the 2000s and she sold well. She is internationally famous too as the First American Idol. She'll always have that bragging right. Most American Idols seemed to have suffered the curse of releasing subpar material and having mediocre success. Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Adam Lambert and Jennifer Hudson are probably the most successful (from the top of my head). I love Fantasia but she's a bit of a hot mess.

She attracts a wide audience because she has inoffensive appeal. Advertisers don’t worry about her offending some consumers; other artists don’t worry about her butchering their music; audiences don’t worry about her being secretly awful.

Agree with the style comments. It's horrible. Not sure why whoever dresses her feels the need to put a giant belt right under her ample bosom no matter what the look is. It's certainly not to appear thinner!
