Why is DL so obsessed with Italians and whiteness?
| by Anonymous | reply 2 | May 22, 2021 5:16 PM |
Because genetically, all Europeans are related to each other. For Italians who are from the boot of Italy, there is very little if no admixture of north African DNA. Sicily, however, does have some DNA from north Africa and the Middle East.

There are some weirdos on here that think that white people all look like redheads with freckles or have that powder-puff skin that always looks like there's something wrong with it.

I'm 4th Generation Italian-American - my DNA is interesting, includes North African, Sardinian and Neopolitan. Plus some continental European and Ashkenazi.. Been told I'm cute/handsome.

For starters, the concept of Europe, the name Europe, the civilization in Europe started in the South of Europe with the cultural exchange and nurturing of the North of Africa and the Middle East. While in Northern Europe they ate and defecated in the same place, Greeks where reflecting on the big questions of life and writing Philosophy. Greece, Italy, Spain and Portugal, are the real cultural powerhouses in Europe.

That’s not really true. There have been waves of migration that dustributed different peoples at different times.
For instance, the basques have a unique dna and language. And Estonians and Lithuanians have far more of the old hunter gatherer dna than almost any other European population.

Probably because Italians are so freaking racist that to question their whiteness is funny. You want to have fun with Italians, bring up Africa and sit back and watch them spin.

This thread shows up at least once a month. I call it the White adjacent troll. It is obsessed with who is White, and who is “almost White.” Very tedious. I generally find the topic interesting, but this thing is too much. It seems like a compulsion.

Italians?
Slavery, Jim Crow Laws, red lining neighborhoods...that was done by Italians?
And why in the world should Italians accept stupidity from people like you about some supposed "African ancestry?"

r13 Don't mistake the fantasies of some people with reality. Basques aren't special. This is a concocted nationalist pile of bollocks. Tribes all over Europe migrated and mixed since Neanderthal times.

[quote] The Basques are a unique population in Western Europe; their language is not related to any Indo-European language. Furthermore, genetically speaking, they have been considered to have distinct features. However, until now there was no conclusive study to explain the origin of their singularity.
FANTASIST! MARY!!!

Pompeu Fabra is an university known to have very convenient bias. Basques are as mixed as everyone in the world. A few distinctive genetic traits in a very small group, do not make all of them different. And regarding the language... they say it's the most ancient in Europe, yet they have no written tradition and most of it is "basquized" Spanish because it was a language of farmers and every house spoke their version. Very poor representation of themselves.

I'm not surprised that this topic is posted about once a month. What I am surprised by is that it always generates multiple responses (including mine).

A friend one said if herself: I'm half Italian and half Sicilian.

OP Because they are Europeans.
| by Anonymous | reply 26 | May 22, 2021 11:41 PM |
I was told that when the Sicilians and Calabrians migrated to New York City, the ladies of the Italian Welfare League advised them not to disclose their origins, lest they be discriminated against by the other Italians, who believed that they were "tainted" with Arab blood. So they learned Napuletano and pretended they were from Lucania (Basilicata).

A lot of this whiteness BS is doubtless the work of the Right wing trolls. They have a bifurcated and simplistic worldview: white/black. They want whites on DL to value whiteness above Gaiety and vote Republican I suppose.

I’m mixed and grew up in a pretty diverse small town. An elderly Italian woman (immigrant) who lived in our neighborhood befriended my Mom. If this woman (who was sweet) and I were walking together people thought I was her grandkid.

R13
It's 100% true, all Europeans are mostly a mixture of 3 different groups. The only difference between Europeans is the proportions of these 3 groups per ethnicity. The actual genetic gap between Europeans is VERY insignificant. In actual fact the gap between different Asian and African groups is MUCH larger and MUCH more significant than that of different European groups. Europeans like to separate each other throughout history. But quite frankly Europeans are the LEAST unique across the the continent compared to Asians and Africans. An Indian and a Japanese couldn't be further apart. But A Spaniard is more closely related to an Englishman than an Indian is to a Japanese person. Europeans are the least unique and genetically distinct per-ethnicity.

I’m just re-reading Polybius and it’s an interesting reminder that northern Italy was occupied by Gauls for centuries, called “cisalpine Gauls” (no, trans trolls, not “cis alpine Gauls”). These were fair haired, fair skinned people like northwest Europeans today.
The Romans dispossessed them of the area eventually but the region remained heavily influenced by them. After the fall of the Roman Empire, German tribesmen called Langobards (long beards) moved in, giving Lombardy its name. Blonde and blue eyed.
So trolling OP DefatTurd, Italians are Europeans.

You do know that any 99.9% of the DNA is identical between any two human beings, don’t you? And that all living humans have a common female ancestor who lived in Africa?
