It's when you put a fried chicken dinner inside your jockstrap.

You also get fries and burgers in a basket, so what's the big deal. Do you prefer a whole bucket?

It's just food served in a wicker or plastic basket instead of on a plate, OP. You can still find it at plenty of meat & 3s all over America.

Well, there are Easter eggs in a basket, so don't they count as chickens?

Chicken in a basket is fine.
Creamed chicken in a basket, I do not recommend.

My favorite thing to eat at our family's favorite restaurant, was "Honey Dipped Fried Chicken In A Basket."
It was absolutely heavenly.

Plastic serving baskets are reusable / environmentally friendly. OP apparently would rather immerse his fat head in a cardboard bucket.

My favorite place to eat fried chicken is at Wagner's Village Inn in Oldenburg, Indiana. The fried chicken served in little mom and pop joints in Southern Indiana isn't cooked until you place your order, and is heavily seasoned with lots of black pepper, with all the fixins on the side. The baskets are usually made of red plastic and lined with grease-proof paper. It's nice to have a big country brunch after a long drive in the country.
