What has happened to Cheez-it?

Not long ago I adored these little crackers, and now they taste horrible and leave a nasty after taste in my mouth. I even had to take an ant-acid for my stomach.

Nonsense. I still eat them and they taste exactly the same. You might have eaten some generic brand.

I used to love Cheddar Nacho Cheez-Its & Cheesy Taco Cheez-Its but they were both discontinued. One of my guilty pleasures now is Cheddar Jack Cheez-Its but I haven't had them in a while. I'm not a junk food person but there's something about Cheez-Its & Doritos that really hits the spot.

I like the Hot & Spicy Tabasco Cheez-Its. Does anyone else think CheeseNips have a slightly fishy taste to them?

I love the Tabasco and the Italian herb cheese ones. I used to by the white cheddar, but I found that I have difficulty controlling my intake with those.

Sometimes canola oil will add a slight fishy undertaste to certain things you use it in(to the poster who mentioned a fishy taste.)

Okay, on this last box I noticed a change. They taste like bad oil or something. Less cheesy, more oily.

They were always bad. Zingers are barely passable but more expensive. I think you're probably remembering "Cheese Nips" which were a little better and less chemical tasting. And then there were the disgusting "Cheese Tidbits" which tasted like wax paper and sawdust mixed.

Oh, OP! You have to read the label more carefully! I think you bought Cheese-Lips, which is cheese flavore cow lips. I've tried to substitute Cheese-Lips for Cheese-Its when I'm low on cash, but I think people can tell the difference.

I got the Crunch'd variety at the 99 cent store a couple of weeks ago. Horrible. Must not have done well in product testing markets for them to wind up on those shelves so soon. Seems like Kellog's went all out marketing.

I liked R15' s fried cheese idea which I'll try over the weekend. I've been making traditional cheese straws forever though, which are just grated sharp cheddar, flour and a little hot sauce of your choice, mixed into a dough in the food processor, rolled and baked. They beat the pants off any store bought cracker, missy.
