I liked the first intro for "Veronica's Closet" better than the later one. It was one of the rare intros to a sitcom that always made laugh ("Phyllis" is the only other one I can think of).

I remember how bulked up Cortese looked when he did Melrose place--he looked like his chest was fully as deep as his shoulders were broad.

He was an odd actor--appealing in comedy, but not actually very funny. He would have been great for romcom roles when they needed a likeable hottie for the love interest, but he never made it that far.
