Weight Watchers Meetings
William Jenkins
I am signing up for WW, I need the accountability. I see now you have to reserve a place at the in person meetings, has anyone been to a meeting lately? I took the quiz and I got the Blue Plan but I am leery of the ZERO point foods and will probably still count them.

A liar like you needs the ‘Dust Plan’.
If you can just drag yourself to your front door, you’ll find the meeting coordinates.
The trip to the letter box is not an excuse to eat.

I kid monstrously, OP - not done WW but very best of luck with it!

I am like a kid that needs to answer to somebody or I cheat too much. Thanks r2

WW since points, has never worked for me. Good luck

I know I will never weight or measure r4 so I do like that it is looser now. But I don't believe in "free" zero points because those foods still have calories.

I had a coworker who did WW & at one of the weigh-ins learned she’d gained 6 OUNCES, & I think it was over Thanksgiving. This didn’t go over well. She was looking for sympathy & one of the members was morbidly obese.

The new WW points never really worked with me either. I did it 20 years ago and lost weight, but every food had a point back then.
I did it in the 80's and it was very strict back then. You were only allowed a certain amount of bread items, milk, veg/fruit and meat per day.

I had a 3 month plan and I lost about 30lbs, then I couldn't afford it. And dropped to just the app, stopped losing and gained a little back. I need to be at the in person meetings.
If they are zero point foods, you don't count them. What I did that I found gave me success was turn off the point adjustment when you do exercise. There are two ways that works. The fist way is that you get extra points for the time you workout but if you have that off then you still have your daily points and no more regardless of how much you work out.

r6, a lot of people at the meetings I used to go to would make a pledge during the holiday to not gain. Just maintain. Then if you didn't gain you were successful. It's hard during the holidays. I had stopped going but am thinking about going back to get the rest of my pandemic weight off. Meetings are now back to being in person. But I can't afford it at the regular prices. It does work.

I still have my old WW leader added on IG and FaceBook, I really liked going to meetings. Probably about time to try again.
| by Anonymous | reply 10 | May 18, 2021 8:32 AM |
I went to a meeting, they don't give you the paper booklet to track your weight any more you do it on the app.
You have to wear masks in meetings which I am fine with.
| by Anonymous | reply 11 | May 21, 2021 5:59 PM |
You're in it now. Don't question it. Just follow the instructions and quit bitching. A lot of people have found success with WW.
| by Anonymous | reply 13 | June 4, 2021 1:21 PM |
I was doing pretty well until the Pandemic, which is no surprise. I was down almost 30 lbs in March of 2020. I've gained about 10 back. I've been back to in-person workshops but am still not 100% back on plan. I'm doing Keto right now and using WW as my official weigh-in. I need to lose 50 lbs., according to my physician.
Pre-pandemic, my Saturday morning workshop was SRO until Thanksgiving holiday. At one point, I think we had about 65 members attending. It's down now to about 30, although that may change with restrictions loosening. I set an alarm for 7 am on Sunday mornings to reserve my spot for Saturday. That meeting is THAT popular!

Strange how WW says you can eat as much fruit as you want while other diets discourage eating it.
| by Anonymous | reply 15 | June 4, 2021 1:55 PM |
What about these zero point foods? Are they restricted? I imagine you can't just go over eating just because the food is "zero points."
| by Anonymous | reply 16 | June 4, 2021 2:08 PM |
I need to lose about 15 lbs and am wondering if WW will work for me. I don't need the meetings, but the app and points system looks good.
| by Anonymous | reply 17 | June 4, 2021 2:10 PM |
While there are foods are zero points, you need to be aware of portion size. You can't just eat them. One member gained 3 lbs. in 2 weeks eating cherries and not watching how many. I still recorded my zeros in the app. For this reason, some people choose the plan with the least number of zero point foods.
R16, you could probably drop those 15 lbs. on your own by making healthier food choices, eating smaller portions, and eliminating/reducing alcohol intake, if you drink.
| by Anonymous | reply 18 | June 4, 2021 2:26 PM |
A $10 kitchen scale from Amazon is very enlightening when it comes to portion sizes, regardless of the plan you follow.
R16, focus on protein, high fiber green veg, limiting alcohol and cutting sugars and starches. You should be able to drop that amount easily, for free, over the summer.

OP bring noseplugs because unless you get one of the male-only (assuming you are male) meetings, you will be inundated with cheap cologne from all the fat Frauen. It will be an unholy assault on your nostrils the likes of which you have never experienced!
Also be prepared to weigh-in in front of everyone at the beginning.
| by Anonymous | reply 20 | June 4, 2021 2:46 PM |
It doesn't work. Eat right and exercise. Why waste your money?
| by Anonymous | reply 21 | June 4, 2021 4:47 PM |
R20, not sure what workshop(s) you attended but no one wears cologne or perfume. Of course, I go at 8 am on Saturday morning. I also attend a 'sanctioned' (not sure what else to call it) workshop. It has private areas for weighing and your weight is shown digitally. No can see and no one announces your weight.
Or are you being sly and referencing the SITC episode with Miranda Baby Weight?
| by Anonymous | reply 22 | June 4, 2021 8:27 PM |
Thanks for the encouragement. I have lost 10 pounds already. I still count the Zero point foods in my head even though when I track on the app they are zero. Nobody sees your weight except the person weighing you. As for smelling cheap perfume we are still required to wear masks in meetings.
| by Anonymous | reply 23 | June 5, 2021 12:23 PM |
R23, I went to a WW workshop this morning in northern NJ. Capacity has increased to 60 members and no masks were required.
| by Anonymous | reply 24 | June 5, 2021 2:50 PM |
I have a question. I joined WW a few days ago, (the day I posted here), and was placed on the blue program. I've tracked everything, stayed with the 23 points, drank plenty of water and exercised (walking and bike riding). I lost a bit of weight yesterday, but today the scale went up! I didn't cheat at all! Any idea why I actually gained weight?
| by Anonymous | reply 25 | June 7, 2021 3:04 AM |
r25 I only get weighed at WW meetings because otherwise I get psyched out if I weigh every day and it fluctuates. It could be water weight, I notice after I eat a lot of salt that can happen to me. Sounds like you are doing everything right. But take it easy on the zero point foods because they still have calories.
| by Anonymous | reply 26 | June 7, 2021 3:11 AM |
You type Husky Weighty-Watchy, OP.
| by Anonymous | reply 27 | June 7, 2021 3:16 AM |
Thanks, R26. Yeah, I don't completely trust the zero point foods. So far, I've even been slightly under 23 points too, but it's only been a few days now. I like the system because I don't have to think too much about counting calories, carbs, etc...
| by Anonymous | reply 28 | June 7, 2021 3:16 AM |
r27 I guess that's better than typing fat? You are too kind.
| by Anonymous | reply 29 | June 7, 2021 3:27 AM |
I am not understanding. In your country, you pay money NOT to eat??
| by Anonymous | reply 30 | June 7, 2021 3:35 AM |
My friend said she hated going to the morning meetings because all the women skipped eating so to weigh less. 😂. As if eating no breakfast meant you weighed five pounds less.
| by Anonymous | reply 31 | June 7, 2021 3:39 AM |
r24 I go on Friday, maybe the mask requirement will be lifted here. In a way I liked the masks because sometimes it keeps you from having to make small talk.
| by Anonymous | reply 32 | June 8, 2021 2:49 AM |
r33 I have a long term boyfriend, we each have our own place. He is 6'5" and slim so he can eat like a horse and not gain. I try to just keep healthy stuff at my place but he likes to order out so that can be challenging. That's why I like WW because I can eat what I want as long as I stay in my points.
| by Anonymous | reply 34 | June 8, 2021 3:23 AM |
I lost 20 lbs on the blue plan, ate mostly zero point foods. Gained back 15 over Covid. I just do it online. But I record every morsel of food.

What are "weeklies"? I see people on the Weight Watchers reddit group talk about them. Are they leftover points? I've been under my points every day, but don't think that binging because I have extra points is a good idea...
| by Anonymous | reply 36 | June 8, 2021 5:20 AM |
R36, "Weeklies" are extra points you can use for special occasions, like parties. I personally find that I need to use a few of them each day for extra protein (depending on what plan you're on) or other foods. I try not to use them for an extra cookie or 2nd glass of wine. You need to be smart about how you use them.
You also have FitPoints which are used like Weekly points. You earn points for exercise. If you are someone who works out, the daily points may not be enough so you may use Weekly or FitPoints or both. I know several members who have lost their weigh and are Lifetime members who used all of the Daily and Weekly point while losing their weight. In fact, they encourage it.

I've lost close to 10 lbs, so I have another 10 or so to go. I'm assuming the last ten are the hardest to lose.

FYI, WW now has online meetings for the LGBTQ+ community. Coach Jason S. is the leader of the group on Wednesdays at 7PM ET while Coach Vicki L. hosts the meeting on Sunday at 12:30PM ET..
| by Anonymous | reply 39 | June 29, 2021 7:18 AM |
I like to go to the meetings to get weighed in, but I hate having to RSVP now because usually I decide at the last minute when to go
| by Anonymous | reply 40 | June 30, 2021 10:32 PM |
I remember there were some foods that were zero points ages ago. I think they were zero because they had so much fiber or something that it ate up whatever the points are given for. Sweet n Low is zero points because the body doesn't absorb it.
Allowing for zero point food didn't interfere with me losing. For instance, the cereal Fiber One was zero points and I added milk and a few raisins so I just counted points for the milk and raisins. It was quite a tasty and filling breakfast - but you had to eat it as soon as you put the milk in or it would turn mushy. Yuck.
Good luck.

When the Zero points were introduced the WW leader said to us "Now I can put cheese on my eggs every morning since eggs are Zero points now". They lost me there because the eggs and cheese are the same calories as they were before the Zero points concept.

I don't have to wear a mask at meetings any more but I kind of miss hiding behind one so I don't have to make conversation.
