Micky Milkovich and Ian Gallagher are a much more compelling and interring televised gay couple than David Rose and that drippy patrick.

Micky and Ian I probably wouldn't hang out with in real life, but David and Patrick are the gays I'd avoid if I saw out - blech

Apart from being more "interring", OP, those shows are complete polar opposites. The characters suit the themes, plots and storylines of their respective shows.

On a separate note, I think Mickey Milkovich is one of the most fascinating characters on TV. He has a lot of complexity and nuance. Noel Fisher does an excellent portrayal.

I don't find them opposites, though their dramatic arcs may have been different. Both tackled serious topics but mainly dealt with silly sitcom scenarios with implausible factors.

Aside from Naoh fisher going awol for a bit to make a movie I think they make a much better couple than the drips in Schitt's creek
