I didn't appreciate Charles until his guest appearance on The X Files. i loved his game show appearances, but I guess I dismissed them as simple froth, and now I feel loss for his brand of talent.

He hardly "dominated" the airwaves. He was mostly the token effeminate man who was queeny and funny, like Franklin Pangborn was in 30's and 40's movies. It's good that he was able to have a career, but Paul Lynde was just as ubiquitous as Reilly.

I’d have loved to have been a friend of his. I may need to re-watch “Jose Chung’s From Outer Space” in his honor.

Charles Nelson Reilly had a one-man stage show he performed over 300 times called "The Life of Reilly", naturally, and it is fantastic. I originally found it on Youtube chopped up into short segments, but I later bought the dvd to watch it all in order.

He tells some hilarious and hair-raising stories and is fascinating. The filmed version is at a live performance and was the very last time he performed the show which makes it bittersweet. I cannot imagine anyone not enjoying it. Here he was near the end of his life, yet at the top of his game.

Yes, I did watch it a few years ago and I didn't memorize the show, and to be honest, the size of some dead guy's dick who I don't really remember seeing in anything wasn't the most compelling thing about the performance.
