I know he was all pro war/ patriotism during the bush years but I’ve never read he’s said anything negative about gay people or had an opinion about it one way or the other. He revealed he was being treated for stomach cancer several months back.

Clearly you know nothing about country music. Toby Keith was one of the genres top stars for many years. His career has slowed some now, I assume the cancer has a lot to do with that, but his music is still making him many millions a year. Celebrity net worth sites are notorious wrong, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if he's worth more than they claim.
