There are no straight acting gays
Daniel Martin
LOL, tell that to all the closeted gay actors who fooled the world
Or the gay Army generals
Or the gay professional athletes

I guess that's true. If he ends up sticking his dick into another guy, you can tell.

Most of them have effeminate, campy mannerisms

Everyone knows I'm gay - they can always tell.

They act straight until lips are on penis!

Non-stereotypical gay guys are underrepresented in the mainstream media. They aren't uncommon in many indie films though like the stuff by Gregg Araki and Gus Van Sant. Magazines like Out and XY had a lot of different types of gay men featured. I think newer stuff like Love, Simon and Moonlight were both groundbreaking in showing a straight-passing/masculine gay protagonists in a mainstream film.
Overall, it seems to me that media featuring gays/bis are consumed by straight women who'd rather see flamboyant feminine gay men, bisexual girls (no bi men) and lipstick lesbians (no butch).
There used to be a cable channel called LOGO that had a lot of diverse LGBT content that showed an array of different personalities but it sort of died out and became a channel for reruns of sitcoms.

That’s why they transition now: personality matches gender. That’s what people expect today too.

I think I own this thread R9
(Seriously, whatever you might think of the US version of Queer As Folk, they did a good job of representing the range of masculinity in the gay community.)

^^Though in case you hadn't figured it out, this is a troll thread designed to restart the whole "masc vs femme, top vs bottom" thing up again for the 8,984th time.

I fooled a lot of people for 25 years in the military. During that period, if they'd found out for sure, they would've discharged me with no pension or benefits for the years that I had served in the military. (Moving frequently from one assignment to another helped; but it was stressful and lonely. I hid by being a work-aholic. They loved me for that, but they still would've kicked me out because I liked other penis, not just my own.) Glad those days are gone.

R11 They should reboot it. They recently did an L Word reboot.

I thought I had read they were R14--but with a whole new cast and premise. IIRC there were several DL threads about it, though not sure the project ever went anywhere because those threads were a while ago.
Given that the main premise of the series was "30 year old ad executive takes 17 year old high school senior's virginity and falls in love with him" I don't see it being rebooted any time soon. (And the 17 year old was 15 in the UK version.)

R12 It's a tired debate yes plus many gay men don't fit neatly into those boxes either. I think a lot of people tend to gravitate towards people who are similar anyway. I do see so many straight people stereotyping us though. I can't tell you how many women have heard say "he's such a bottom" or "such a top" and telling others "you don't act gay enough". These straight girls live on social media and watch Drag Race and think they are experts on what gay men are like.

Just an update on the old "which one is the man and which one is the woman" question R16

Of course there are straight-acting gay guys but they're not the hot jocks you are imagining, they're the basement-dwelling, unshowered guys who will move out of their mother's house when the police find her months-old cadaver.
| by Anonymous | reply 18 | March 30, 2021 9:21 PM |
I can see that. I think a lot of straight-acting don't fit the super-masculine or super-feminine appearance. Nerdy geeky guys into computers, video games and comic books you would say.

Exactly R19
I always think of the two fat geeky gays on the old Sarah Silverman Show who used to say "Dude! I am so gay for you!" as a show of affection.

While it's obvious to the enlightened that very masculine, straight acting gay men do indeed exist, why do those very same insist that very feminine, straight men can in no way, no how be straight???

A good looking bike racer ( or something) guy named Corey Walsh just came out. He looks and sounds TOTALLY straight. He's good looking ( as I just said) too.

I think the bulk of gay men tend to be somewhat feminine. Maybe 80%. The str8 acting ones are typically working in blue collar trades, and are just average looking.
| by Anonymous | reply 23 | March 30, 2021 9:40 PM |
I am a straight lady, not gay.
| by Anonymous | reply 24 | March 30, 2021 9:40 PM |
R9- because slim gay guys who look and sound straight are NOT entertaining to straight people ESPECIALLY women. Their faggots have to be queeny and make witty ,bitchy remarks about everyone and everything.
A perfect example of this type of stock FAGGOT character is Elijah on GIRLS.
