The Good Witch
Andrew Hansen
Is anybody watching the good witch? I just caught it on Netflix last night never already binge watched the first season.

It's corny as hell but I still watched.

I searched and found this thread. I'm watching it on Netflix. It is kind of corny (Hallmark after all) but it grows on you. Also it makes me want to move to Hamilton or a smallish town like that. When I watched the first episode a few months ago I was like zzzzzzz. I'm glad I gave it another chance. Mostly through season one now. I understand there's a bunch of TV movies too?

Catherine Bell really is a Good Witch. I've watched all of the movies, and some how she grounds them so they're above the usual Hallmark treacle.

Catherine Bell is still really gorgeous.

I find Bell's cheeks too distracting. She's a beautiful woman. She doesn't need enhancements.

I'm surprised the doctor guy hasn't gotten tired of playing the town hunk yet. Although I guess if you can get the work!

I'm in the first few episodes of season two. They mention magic! Witches! And charms! It's the first actual acknowledgement of witchcraft in the series! Everyone's so perky and happy, except when confronted with minor problems that are solved by the end of the episode!

There's around 7 or 8 "Good Witch" made for TV movies that showed before the series began (with a different town hunk) but for some reason there's only two of them available on Netflix. I watched both of them over Christmas because I wanted to feel SOME Christmas spirit. Both of them had weddings and one of them took place at Christmas, so it seemed appropriate. They're kind of easy to watch, and Catherine Bell does the Good Witch without seeming like a smug cunt (which seems like it would be easy for a character that always knows everything). The only character I really abhor is the perpetually-horny-and-dateless cop deputy, the one who's kind of unattractive but not THAT bad if you squint. A gender studies major watching this would be apoplectic with the way the deputy, when he sees an attractive woman, immediately begins hitting on her and makes "oops" jokes about her attractiveness.
Speaking of, I also noticed the Good Witch's wedding vows were traditional - "You may now kiss your bride" among other lines. Gasp! I guess the Good Witch is a free spirit but also very traditional.

The first cop was Queer As Folk's Chris Potter, look for the early ones. Catherine Dishes, the mayor, is a very good actress and wad pretty before the weight gain. She was in the very good Canadian series The border. Politically incorrect for Trudeau.

I love the mayor, she's a hilarious character and the actress is pretty good :)
