Suitcase hobos
Andrew Hansen
Since I was young I remember seeing hobos with shopping carts but in recent years there seem to be a new breed of hobo in my city. They have evolved into Suitcase hobos. In some cases they look cleaner and they get around a lot easier. They have a suitcase on wheels with them at all times. This is way more practical than a shopping cart.

How old are you? The word hobo is no longer used in the 21st century.

Last night I saw one hauling around a city trash bin. Now that's taking it to another level!

If you see one in New York with a Sansonite suitcase, he isn't a hobo

R1 doesn’t understand her role.

I’m fascinated by the evolution of hobos

A well hung, handsome hobo need not worry where he lays his head.

A desperate old turd started this thread

Homeless. Suitcase. Pimp.

I think a lot of shopping carts have some kind of tracking device on them now allowing contractors who go around retrieving carts to track them down and get them back. This could dissuade hobos from taking them.

Backpack. Roller bag. Glass pipe. Lighter…just another touring person on 8th Ave, between 19th and 32nd streets.

We prefer the word “pilgrim.”

One of those suitcases probably contains the body of that old man who sucks off the homeless on camera.

In Denton, Texas they walk around with their blankets on their backs, so unless they’re gypsies, I call them Blanket People.
I feel rather 21st century and sophisticated and better than others, much like R1 when I refer to them in a way that humanizes them and contextualizes who they really are.

If I were going to be a hobo, I'd stick with the classic.

How is Blanket People any more PC than Hobo?

Are you talking about that Ohio queens visiting NYC too cheap to book a hotel who relies on the kindness of male strangers for, ahem, accommodation ?
| by Anonymous | reply 17 | March 9, 2023 8:34 AM |
Denton, TX has the highest number of these "blanket men" that I have ever seen. WTF is going on up here?

R18 there are a lot of holier-than-thou suckers there who make a big stink about calling them 'unhoused persons' rather than 'homeless people', etc.-- until they get attacked by one. They're violent and aggressive and take the train in from Dallas, I suppose.
Gypsies rake it in in Denton, too, holding up traffic as dumbasses pass them money out their car windows. And a majority of people under 40 in Denton think sex trafficking is a major threat to their well-being and if anyone pushes back on that idea, they're canceled.

R18 Have you been to downtown Austin in the last few years? Yikes.

From hobos to nuclear energy federal appointees, suitcases are all the rage this year.
