I don’t think the laughter is fake. It’s different when you’re there, you get swept up in the moment and the crowd. People laugh a lot more than someone at home just the effect of being in a crowd.

I think the show is pretty good tonight. Dan Levy is invested in every skit — no cue card reading from him. Most of the skits were good and Weekend Update was strong.

Norm isn't really being cryptic, he's just a hateful guy who is a little off kilter and says things in ways that allow his pals and fans to call him "astounding" and "mysterious."
He didn't @ Dan Levy an obscure "he killed it" metaphor, but he probably wants you to think he did. If you remember Norm's lengthy bitchfest about how Liberace wasn't gay and the biopic of him was slanderous and immoral, you can probably piece together why Norm Macdonald tweeted what he did.

I am not surprised at anything I've learned on this thread about Dan Levy--that his parents are far too much involved in his adult life, that he once was a slutty bottom, that he's now more or less an incel, that he has mysterious ailments and neuroses, that he was severely bullied as a child and teenager.

I also think it's social anxiety. Especially if it's true he was bullied as a child or teenager. Bullying can cause social anxiety. Or if a person already has social anxiety due to genetics, bullying makes it so much worse. In the credits video, people weren't actively avoiding him. He didn't make any attempts to engage with anyone else (except the musical guest and his dad, who were already standing beside him). While the others mingled behind him, he kind of stayed in his original space at the front of the stage. He probably feels awkward asking people for a hug, and he's worried that they'll reject him in front of the cameras.
But I do wonder why all the cast keeps hugging each other. They work with each other long hours, week after week. You'd think they'd be glad to hug someone new (host and musical guest) for a change.
