SNL 12/3/22

Writer Daniel Martin

Black twitter is already losing it 🙃

by Anonymousreply 1December 4, 2022 1:34 AM

Thank you for using the easy to find Header OP. Well done.

by Anonymousreply 2December 4, 2022 3:04 AM

You're welcome, R2. I'm the original starter of these SNL threads and also prefer my header but someone else started creating them a while back using a different format, so I leave it alone to avoid duplicate threads. This week, however, I checked and there was nothing, so I went for it.

Kind of wish they would skip politics as the opener for a bit. It's getting old.

by Anonymousreply 7December 4, 2022 4:32 AM

Glad Herschel brought up "the erection".

by Anonymousreply 8December 4, 2022 4:34 AM

Can they do ANYTHING original? Does every opener always have to be a direct satire on everything? Yeezsh.

by Anonymousreply 9December 4, 2022 4:34 AM

Whoever suggested that outfit to Keke needs to be slapped.

by Anonymousreply 12December 4, 2022 4:37 AM

they made Blackburn seem too normal in the opener

love Keke. She is so pretty and bubbly

by Anonymousreply 13December 4, 2022 4:37 AM

Uh, R9, it's a sketch show... that is of the moment...it's live...it's Saturday Night Live...sheesh.

by Anonymousreply 14December 4, 2022 4:38 AM

R12 agree. Don't they color check these outfits for how they will look under the lighting on stage?

by Anonymousreply 16December 4, 2022 4:40 AM

How to pronounce SZA, S-Z-A, Za...

by Anonymousreply 17December 4, 2022 4:41 AM

it had been rumored for weeks she's pregnant because normally she has a nice svelte figure

lucky baby daddy whoever he is

by Anonymousreply 19December 4, 2022 4:42 AM

Bowen Yang needs to fly to London as soon as this episode is over as a certain movie starts filming next week.

by Anonymousreply 20December 4, 2022 4:44 AM

I didn’t say anything about them needing to stop being live, uhmm, R14–gawwwd. ;) I meant the obvious, ie that EVERY live opening is lately always only about directly parroting back a satire of something that has actually happened, ie, no originality on their live-opening writing part.

by Anonymousreply 22December 4, 2022 4:45 AM

R21 are you the representative for the over 80 club?

Keke has been quite famous for several years now and Sza has been famous for a few though not a big star

by Anonymousreply 24December 4, 2022 4:46 AM

I love how the stunt doubles look nothing like Cecily and Keke

by Anonymousreply 25December 4, 2022 4:47 AM

Okay, this next skit is more to my own crazy, eccentric SNL-skit idea of “funny.” :)

by Anonymousreply 28December 4, 2022 4:48 AM

lol big boy season is funny

by Anonymousreply 29December 4, 2022 4:51 AM

[quote] are you the representative for the over 80 club? Keke has been quite famous for several years now and Sza has been famous for a few though not a big star

No, but I'm not scrolling on TikTok and don't listen to autotuned squealing "singers" or reality show whores. Pretend I can't use Google (even though I was using the Internet probably before you were born) and tell me who these women are. I'm [bold] so so[/bold] interested.

by Anonymousreply 30December 4, 2022 4:52 AM

[quote]How to pronounce SZA, S-Z-A, Za...

SCISSOR, dear.

by Anonymousreply 31December 4, 2022 4:53 AM

[quote][R20] which movie?

Probably Crazy Rich Asians 2?

by Anonymousreply 32December 4, 2022 4:53 AM

love the diss skit on Drake. He's trash

by Anonymousreply 34December 4, 2022 4:55 AM

Does the binary have mouth paralysis or Bell’s Palsey?

by Anonymousreply 36December 4, 2022 5:02 AM

she needs to come back a year or so from now to host again. She's so charismatic

by Anonymousreply 37December 4, 2022 5:05 AM

R34 I agree. It's good to see that asswipe finally get called out.

by Anonymousreply 39December 4, 2022 5:10 AM

Arby's commercials are the MOST obnoxious, that announcer voice, so this is perfect.

by Anonymousreply 40December 4, 2022 5:11 AM

lol this is like a DL fat whores parody sketch

by Anonymousreply 41December 4, 2022 5:11 AM

Jesus Christ, Bowen Yang is still a ‘thing’?

by Anonymousreply 42December 4, 2022 5:13 AM

Keke is not funny. Funny looking maybe, but not haha funny. Her personality is so annoying.

by Anonymousreply 43December 4, 2022 5:14 AM

Why are Sza’s pants falling down?

by Anonymousreply 44December 4, 2022 5:19 AM

And they could have had Angela Basset.

by Anonymousreply 45December 4, 2022 5:20 AM

Bowen and Kenan need to leave the show.

by Anonymousreply 46December 4, 2022 5:20 AM

I don't dislike Kenan, but he never plays anything other than Kenan. Ever.

by Anonymousreply 47December 4, 2022 5:22 AM

R43 is Drake, mad about the diss sketch

by Anonymousreply 48December 4, 2022 5:25 AM

Weekend Update was off the hook in a good way.

by Anonymousreply 50December 4, 2022 5:36 AM

Tracee Ellis Ross is hilarious IMO. Didn’t she host this once, and why isn’t she ever guesting here? Show would be great.

by Anonymousreply 51December 4, 2022 5:40 AM

Here’s new guy they seemed purposely to hire bc he resembles Pete Davidson, as if viewers can’t except facial recognition change.

by Anonymousreply 52December 4, 2022 5:42 AM

Twitter now also loves Nazis. Your point?

by Anonymousreply 55December 4, 2022 5:57 AM

Is this show now Saturday Black Live?

by Anonymousreply 56December 4, 2022 5:58 AM

Keke did a fabulous job

hope they have her back. She's 1 of the rare hosts I would welcome back multiple times

beautiful, can act, can sing and is very charming

best episode this season by far

by Anonymousreply 58December 4, 2022 6:02 AM

And not so for perpetual virtue signalers, I suspect.

by Anonymousreply 59December 4, 2022 6:03 AM

There are too many black people on my TV.

by Anonymousreply 60December 4, 2022 6:06 AM

Keke really outshined all the other cast members. She really knows how to own the camera.

by Anonymousreply 61December 4, 2022 6:08 AM

I’m sorry if equal televised diversity that doesn’t constantly pander gets you and your comfortable suburban cul-de-sac home’s front-lawn BLM sign triggered, R60 aka Senator Warren. :).

by Anonymousreply 62December 4, 2022 6:13 AM

Wow the proud racist trolling R62 never stops. Do you kiss your Jakal with that mouth?

by Anonymousreply 64December 4, 2022 6:16 AM

I sometimes wonder about the extras we see in the SNL skits each week (like the ones who were passengers in the airplane skit tonight). Who do you have to know to get that gig? Do they use the same people every week? How much are they paid? And finally, do they get to go to the after-show party every week or are they just paid and sent home?

by Anonymousreply 65December 4, 2022 6:19 AM

Keke getting rave reviews tonight

by Anonymousreply 66December 4, 2022 6:21 AM

R65 Some of the extras are show writers.

by Anonymousreply 67December 4, 2022 6:23 AM

So since Pete Davidson made it a thing, they're just gonna have a segment of Weekend Update devoted to cast members doing their stand-up acts?

by Anonymousreply 68December 4, 2022 6:26 AM

If I had one, hopefully not on the pandering butt as I’d imagine you would, or do, R63. What’s behind your electing yourself judge as to why other posters are racist if they don’t understand why a show has to lately turn into hosting all skits, actors and performers who are portrayed by their show’s (oh, right, mostly young white writers) conveying always the most stereotypical lines, personalities and characters? In sorry if my seeing it that way spurns you to feel you must likewise elect yourself judge and brand someone about or call out racism. When you sit down to poop, is everything coming out of your mouth down there Buyer’s vanilla ice-cream and the rest of ours isn’t? Please do try to take a vacation from the constantly officious social justice warrioring. If for instance that last skit with the 2 flight attendants was intended to shine as the best representation of admirable comedic characters, I’d rather watch Chloe Fineman host and perform the entire show. Now please do take my Jakal and your BLM sign out of your previously constant ass. Smooches, Karen. :)

by Anonymousreply 69December 4, 2022 6:31 AM

Done with your sad fit? Thanks ever so.

by Anonymousreply 70December 4, 2022 6:34 AM

What in the world is going on this thread. What the fuck are you people talking about.

by Anonymousreply 71December 4, 2022 6:36 AM

Oh, really, R67? I did not know that. Interesting to know. Thanks!

by Anonymousreply 72December 4, 2022 6:36 AM

If I had a Jakal, hopefully I wouldn’t kiss them not on the pandering butt as I’d imagine you would, or do, [R63]. by Anonymousreply 73December 4, 2022 6:36 AM

Not on the pandering butt!

by Anonymousreply 74December 4, 2022 6:38 AM

Put down the meth pipe, R73.

by Anonymousreply 75December 4, 2022 6:40 AM

Regarding my reply which was not a sad fit but rather a justified reply to your obviously being triggered, R70: You’re very welcome! It was entirely my pleasure, including rattling you. Thanks for having been interested enough to have continued engaging me. Also, I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend very much.

by Anonymousreply 76December 4, 2022 6:42 AM

Although I’m not using one, R75–why, do you need to borrow one or stock up on your supply? Gurl, byee.

by Anonymousreply 77December 4, 2022 6:45 AM

One of the best new episodes. Not great but more watchable than most.

by Anonymousreply 78December 4, 2022 6:47 AM

I think this newer cast, as has occurred in seasons past when there were such larger turnovers, will continue to relax, gel and find their talented and character-specific niches, yes I agree.

by Anonymousreply 79December 4, 2022 6:50 AM

She's the new Tiffany Hadish!

by Anonymousreply 80December 4, 2022 6:51 AM

R80, she's more charming than Tiffany Haddish and prettier. I do like Tiffany but it's like she won't evolve past a late 20s ghetto Chica. And I don't think she's a bad actress. Tiffany Haddish is middle aged, she just looks young. I think Keke has shown she has serious acting chops in her latest films and thus more versatile. I think she find that signature Oscar worthy role soon.

by Anonymousreply 81December 4, 2022 7:12 AM

[quote]She's the new Tiffany Hadish!

Who? Keke? Keke has been acting since she was a kid, so, NO.

by Anonymousreply 82December 4, 2022 7:15 AM

Wow. My head hurts.

by Anonymousreply 83December 4, 2022 7:20 AM

Is she one of the Sister, Sister girls?

by Anonymousreply 84December 4, 2022 7:35 AM

Why does the show break down Weekend Update into multiple videos when they put it on YouTube? Do they get more money that way?

by Anonymousreply 85December 4, 2022 7:40 AM

That Michael Longbottom just seems to be trying to hard.

by Anonymousreply 86December 4, 2022 7:51 AM

Yeah....also clueless who this this is.

by Anonymousreply 87December 4, 2022 8:13 AM

I love DL elders come on this site and discover culchah.

by Anonymousreply 88December 4, 2022 8:23 AM

I love when DL youngsters come to this site and show they have no grammatical, punctuation or spelling skills, yet consider themselves superior with feeble attempts at sarcasm..

by Anonymousreply 89December 4, 2022 8:39 AM

R89 I'm not being sarcastic. You bitches dont know anyone born after 1988. And certainly only find fun in Liza Minelli parodies or some white fratbro in the line of John Belushi.

by Anonymousreply 90December 4, 2022 8:43 AM

You're not being clever, either. You, bitch, don't know anyone born before 1999. And you certainly only find fun in being a neurotic little weasel.

And it's spelled [bold] Minnelli[/bold], you idiot.

R50 is visiting us from 1999 when slang like "off the hook" was popular.

by Anonymousreply 92December 4, 2022 8:52 AM

R91,Listen Im sorry, and I'm certainly aware of golden age hollywood. Rear Window is my favorite film of all time.

by Anonymousreply 93December 4, 2022 8:54 AM

The racist troll R92 is STILL posting, still obsessing, hours later. Sad.

by Anonymousreply 94December 4, 2022 8:54 AM

R94, How is that racist. It's spot on. That poster is either black or a white bro in the know.

by Anonymousreply 95December 4, 2022 8:55 AM

R65 a few years ago a girl in my grade at high school was 1 of the background dancers during the skit featuring Aidy Bryant as Sarah Huckabee Sanders singing a parody of "Confidant" by Demi Lovato. We are in our 30s now. I don't know if she went to college but I remember in my last year or so of college some former high school classmates were trying to hype up her attempt at a music career She was in a group, they made a couple music videos but obviously never went anywhere. The peak of her career was being a backup dancer for Beyonce during at least 1 of her tours and also featured during her Superbowl performance. So doing backup dancing on SNL was obviously a step down but it's still something to put on her resume. I think a lot of background people, especially ones who aren't super young, are people like this girl who tried becoming stars on their own but just accepted it likely won't happen and keep taking any gig they can get in hopes of a lucky break at some point. I have no idea if she ever married or had kids as I never was acquainted with her, only knew of her through sex ed in freshman year lol

by Anonymousreply 96December 4, 2022 10:29 AM

Similar to R96, I know a guy was a fairly regular SNL background actor for a few years. He had studied to be an actor but was never very good. He was, however, a nice guy and a hard worker, so I assume that made him reliable and the show kept using him.

by Anonymousreply 97December 4, 2022 1:52 PM

Jesus! Was Lorne cleaning out a closet no one had been into for years when he found the "Dynasty" sketch? Is everyone here too young to remember Joan Collins and Diahann Carroll? I thought they were showing flashbacks. And that lame Arby's commercial that just went on and on and on.........

by Anonymousreply 98December 4, 2022 5:38 PM

Longfellow is just so...white. Nothing special about him. Nothing stands out. They got rid of Athari for this?

by Anonymousreply 99December 4, 2022 6:45 PM

Sorry, Longbottom. Well, something on him is long.

by Anonymousreply 100December 4, 2022 6:46 PM

If you haven’t yet listened to SZA’s “CTRL” from 2017, go ahead. You probably won’t understand what she’s saying at first, but you’ll catch the vibe.

by Anonymousreply 102December 4, 2022 7:10 PM

R97 sometimes you need to present hole or pussy to get ahead.

by Anonymousreply 103December 4, 2022 7:32 PM

General thoughts:

I don’t get Bowen Yang. Amateurish, one note. Not a vibrant performer.

Heidi Gardner irks me for some reason. Seems like she desperately wants to be a Wiig or an Amy Poehler, but you can see the work with her on a way you couldn’t with those performers (or Hooks or Radner, Curtin, etc.)

Longfellow totally trying too hard. Maybe smart on his part since they seem to easily dispose his type if they don’t make a quick impression. But again, you can see the work with him.

Cecily is a true talent. She can make a bad sketch better. She also evolves. If you go back and look, she has some past recurring characters that she doesn’t even do anymore. She keeps updating and proves her versatility.

Sarah Sherman is an incredibly confident performer. I can see us all growing sick of her, a la McKinnon, but for now I find her interesting.

Everyone else is mostly forgettable. The writing is about fives notch’s below where it should be for a show of this caliber and the ability to hire just about anyone they want.

by Anonymousreply 104December 4, 2022 7:56 PM

The background actors are hired from talent agencies the same way movie extras are acquired.

Not the "major agencies" mind you, but entry level representation to give the nascent actor screen experience. NYC is full of these small agencies, and this is how donald stocked his campaign events.

by Anonymousreply 105December 4, 2022 11:32 PM

Keke was really good at making it look like she wasn’t reading off cue cards.

by Anonymousreply 106December 4, 2022 11:53 PM

Keke's baby daddy is some dude named Darius Dalton.

Is he in showbiz or just some random?

by Anonymousreply 107December 5, 2022 12:37 AM

SNL works best when they have a comedic actor host. Palmer was really good. Chance the Rapper has been terrific too.

by Anonymousreply 108December 5, 2022 1:00 AM

I thought this show was one of the most forgettable, unfunny episodes I’ve seen in a long time.

by Anonymousreply 116December 6, 2022 12:04 AM

I thought the two WU members doing their standup was hilarious. Now that we have seen their A Game, what next?

by Anonymousreply 117December 6, 2022 12:07 AM

The hostess reeked of trashiness. Hell, she had her baby bump hanging out wearing a sheer top while introducing the musical performer. So much for decorum.

by Anonymousreply 118December 6, 2022 12:08 AM

[quote][R112] is typing from the welfare line while applying for WIC benefits and food stamps.

There are no longer welfare lines. What year are YOU posting from?!

These days, people applying for social services initially apply at an office. Some medical buildings even have such an office on their premises, there's no need going to a Medicaid office. Anything after that is done via paperwork and snail mail. A friend is a social worker, they tell me these things.

There are also no longer "food stamps", recipients now use a card.

btw, most "welfare fraud' is being done by nursing homes and the doctors themselves.
