Only two of them are nepo babies. One is the son of Steve Higgins who is an SNL producer and Jimmy Fallon's sidekick. The other is the son of a former SNL writer/producer Tim Herlihy. As far as I know, the redhead isn't a nepo baby. That said, I think they are talented and deserve to be on SNL.

R120, Fallon's "sidekick" is Steve Higgins. A big time producer/writer of SNL. I assume his job at the Tonight Show is to keep Jimmy in check and write/produce. I don't think it's an Ed McMahon type thing.

Back to Steve Higgins: He basically hired his son for an ongoing, on air sketch on SNL. Even though his son hasn't even come close to earning that. Even though writers might wait for years to get a sketch on air. Let alone a featured, recurring skit.

R122, agree, Steve Higgins has known Jimmy for a very long time. He tagged along one time to a taping of Andy Cohen's show when Jimmy was a guest. Jimmy was at a low point as it was right before his mom died so I think Steve went along to look out for him as Andy can be a moron.

R121, I believe Herlihy was a head writer. So a big deal. And Higgins is a longtime current writer/producer. Also a big deal.

That's pretty disgusting nepo nonsense. No other way to spin it.

I agree that their segments aren't bad and often interesting and offbeat. But imagine how deflating it would be to be another writer on the show, coming up with equally great sketch ideas, working your ass off for years, toiling away, only to have two offsprings of very famous SNL writers/producers show up and then, bam, get these recurring coveted sketches and airtime almost over night. Knowing that there's NO way their father's didn't pull major strings.

Eh, who cares, I guess. It's the way of the world. I just feel bad for the other writers. Why? My annoying sense of fairness!

I’d no idea this was Cecily Strong’s last show. She did an interview last year about her long absence from SNL. I think her mother was ill and she had other commitments and she’d said that Lorne Michaels was great about her time off. She’s always been a great team player. I’ll miss That Drunk Girl You Met at a Party and the suburban mom sketches and her singing. She’s not a bizarrely present performer like McKinnon who seemed to elbow out the other performers. She’s going to be missed. I think Nwodim and Gardner will have to step up.

SNL had way too many people leave this season. Yes, one, two or even three cast members leaving the show is often expected, but if I'm not mistaken, there have been up to eight leave this season. That is way too many. The core of the show and familiarity are gone in one fell swoop. Cecily leaving now is more than the show or audience can take to still feel connected to the cast members.

Cecily is one of the greats. She leaves a sad and cold void.

He seems very thirsty for the awards with these sob stories and the whole hospitalisation thing. I guess he figures it may be his one shot at Oscar glory. Strange how he’s keeping up the character but it seems he had some sort of cosmetic alterations to play elvis he now looks more like Nicolas cage. While I thought elvis was okay as a movie I don’t think he will win the Oscar. I’ve seen better performances this year. Colin Farrell has put in many fine performances lately. Paul Mescal was brilliant in Aftersun.

R173 I don't think Strong will ever reach EGOT status. But, I would love it if she somehow got an Oscar for the right movie role and would easily piss off Kate McKinnon's crybaby fangirls. I have mentioned this on DL before, but McKinnon's fangirls on the different L Chat sites were insufferable as fuck. They hated whenever other SNL cast members got a lot of screen time and they often bitched up and down about Colin Jost, even though Jost wrote a lot of sketches for Kate. They also bitched up a storm when Alec Baldwin was playing Trump on SNL and they didn't like that Alec and Kate seemed to have a good working relationship at SNL. The hilarious thing was that they would constantly bitch about Alec and most of the male SNL cast members being in old boys club, but they would fangirl over Louis CK because Kate mentioned being a fan of his. For awhile, they kept hoping that Kate and CK would a movie together. When NY Times ran the story about the allegations regarding CK's sexual misconduct they stopped fangirling over him. In general her fanbase is annoying as fuck and I would to see Strong or someone else from SNL have massive success and Kate getting reduced to C list TV roles.
