Harry for one appeals to an adult audience now. He's spent nine months in the top ten of Billboard this year with his new album. The 1d albums never got that kind of longevity.

Both are nice looking young man who are constantly lying to the people who pay their bills (silly teenage girls and queens). Average voices, good promo, I'll give them 5 more years. At least Shawn is not baiting...

Harry has much better music and a voice that sounds post-pubescent. Shawn has only few listenable songs.

As for their looks. Shawn is more conventionally attractive but Harry has the cute/ugly/sexy triad thing going on. Both seem boring and bland personality wise

I'm surprised both lasted longer in the pop market than I expected. Shawn Mendes is a poor man's Jesse McCartney but Jesse was much much sexier and a better singer and performer. Harry is kind of a copycat of every 60s/70s/early 80s thing possible, he is basically a walking nostalgia act like Bruno Mars. I prefer Harry as an artist because at least he knows what he is and is confident. Shawn is insecure and has no identity.

I don't care about their music but Harry seems less manufactured to me. They are both pretty bland but Shawn is the least interesting of the two. At least Harry has branched out into acting so that may go well for him.
