Sharon Stone embracing getting older

Writer Andrew Hansen

So refreshing to see her embrace her age and not be afraid to take a close up video of herself. She looks good.

I remember seeing her in Basic Instinct 2 and she had a lot of work done. I thought she would keep getting more work done.. But she seems to have elected not to keep up with procedures. I wish Madonna had stopped...

The problem is that skin loses its elasticity and collagen, and becomes “Crepey”, especially English/Irish/Scottish skin. Ever had your ear pierced and can still feel that nubby bit when you rub your earlobe? Your body fights injected foreign material and knits skin around it trying to heal, leaving faint scarring and buildup from displaced cells that “float” to the surface causing ripples, bumps and indentations when they dissipate. The only solution? More filler! Once partaken, I think people develop a dysmorphia that can be tricky to undo!

You also lose melanin as you age and skin becomes more transparent, paler and shiny, making injectable more obvious as you age. I think she looks great but some of these gals need to visit an old folks home and take an good look around before considering surgery.

by Anonymousreply 1May 17, 2020 11:23 AM

At least she doesn't look like some whole new creature out of the surgeon's table.

by Anonymousreply 2May 17, 2020 12:03 PM

She just looks like she needs some makeup. How brave.

by Anonymousreply 3May 17, 2020 12:13 PM

I think she looks great. It was brave of her to post that photo. Of course it helps to have good bone structure underneath. IRL I know old women who still look beautiful because they’re lucky that way.

Everyone can do as they like, but once you get to a certain point, the fillers just look grotesque and people with faces full of them look desperate and grasping.

by Anonymousreply 4May 17, 2020 12:16 PM

Madonna looks uncanny, which is worse than looking old.

by Anonymousreply 5May 17, 2020 12:30 PM

Sharon still looks terrific and I like her video

by Anonymousreply 6May 17, 2020 12:46 PM

She looks older, of course, but that is refreshing. She stll has the same face, which is remarkable among her peers (starlets that relied strongly on their looks).

by Anonymousreply 7May 17, 2020 12:57 PM

She need to stay away from PS unless she wants to join the Joceyln Wildenstein club as many aging female celebs have.

by Anonymousreply 8May 17, 2020 1:21 PM

She filled in and then brushed up her brows, so we know she preened for this.

by Anonymousreply 9May 17, 2020 1:28 PM

Is her vagina saggy, too? That’s all she’s known for.

by Anonymousreply 10May 17, 2020 1:31 PM

She was born in 1958.

What choice does she have?

She's now angling for 'elegant elder woman' roles.

Selling herself, as always.

by Anonymousreply 11May 17, 2020 1:32 PM

Not everyone wants to wind up looking like Amanda Lepore .

She looks great and still looks like Sharon Stone just older and without make-up apart from some lipstick.

by Anonymousreply 15May 17, 2020 2:05 PM

She looks great to me, more interesting than to see her made up and dressed. But then I find it sexy when people look confident in their age and in what they have, rather than uncomfortable and trying to be something they're not or that they used to be.

by Anonymousreply 16May 17, 2020 2:10 PM

A wise decision. She looks good.Excessive is often off putting looking rather than youthful looking.

by Anonymousreply 17May 17, 2020 2:20 PM

SS was never a starlet or a bimbo. She has always been smart and interesting. My late dad was a huge fan of hers, and often said her IQ is way above average.

by Anonymousreply 18May 17, 2020 2:31 PM

I'm not surprised at all she turned out like this. She seems like someone who revels in doing things the old-fashioned way, even if it's sometimes the harder way. I remember hearing her talk really soon after she made it big about the projection of glamor and beauty in her career, and how powerful it had been for her. She understood it was just an illusion and didn't take it all to heart at all.

I think the combination of bare, well-cared for skin and a splash of bright coral (not red) lipstick is a great look for women young and old, but especially older women. The thing with aging isn’t with wrinkles but also sagging from volume loss of underlying structures (bones, muscles). The top layers of skin lose moisture and elasticity, which fillers can improve but only to a degree. But fillers injected deeper for addressing volume loss will never look good, yet this is the main reason people get them. Case in point Madonna.

Sharon is blessed with fantastic bone structure. Upthread someone said she had a lot of work done for Basic Instinct 2. That is not true, that was made 4 years after her stroke, and you could actually see very slight remnants from the stroke, mainly with her eyes. Her stroke was life-threatening, from what I’d heard, I was BSN student doing my rotation at the hospital where she was being treated. No plastic surgeon would do major work on a patient only 3-4 years out from a stroke that requires lengthy hospitalization and rehab. She may have had minor procedures like botox and skin resurfacing but not major surgeries.

I think Sharon’s health scare and the fact that she does appear to be intelligent not just industry smart, made her less inclined to go the Madonna route. But like I say, having great facial structure helps a lot with that decision too. Madonna’s face was always going to age quicker, her cheekbones are lower and not as prominent, which means jowls and sagging in the mid-face because volume loss is more noticeable.

I doubt most women from that generation used sunscreen and if they did it was already too late to slow aging associated with sun damage. Sunscreen also mainly prevents sunburn not sun damage, I find it funny to see young women laying out in the sun all day slathered in sunscreen as if that’ll be enough.

by Anonymousreply 20May 17, 2020 3:31 PM

Horror show. She prolly thinks she looks good. Hope she dies soon so I don't have to see this face again. Is she straight? I mean, it would be amazing to find a straight actress.

by Anonymousreply 21May 17, 2020 3:39 PM

Darling OP: she had a stroke. Major surgery -- and a facelift is a major surgery -- wouldn't be on the cards.

by Anonymousreply 22May 17, 2020 3:42 PM

Her dating history is suspect. Looks like she dated gay men and never really had serious relationship.

by Anonymousreply 23May 17, 2020 9:58 PM

This is why I love her and Helen Mirren. They embrace their age. I find that more attractive than a face full of fillers.

by Anonymousreply 24May 17, 2020 10:03 PM

Agree that she looks good and natural. And with a bit more of make up - she could really still look stunning and looks like her younger self. Btw is that a scar across her neck?

by Anonymousreply 25May 17, 2020 10:46 PM

I remember once on a late night show, not sure which one, Arnold S was promoting Total Recall and he said his co-star was very attractive and his wife Maria wasn't happy about it. Just some trivia.

by Anonymousreply 26May 17, 2020 11:02 PM

R25, there used to be a website dedicated to that scar: sharonstonesscar.com There was photographic evidence and piles of theories, including beheading and alien abduction, as to what caused the scar. It was a perfect example of the oddity of the web before corporations took it over.

by Anonymousreply 27May 17, 2020 11:08 PM

It's nice that gay men think that a 56 yr old female is nice looking.

by Anonymousreply 28May 17, 2020 11:33 PM

I’m baffled as to why Sharon Stone is a celebrity. Basic Instinct was her one hit movie.

Usually when she’s in the cast, it guarantees a flop.

Her publicist over the years is only matched by Jennifer Aniston’s. Both are actresses kept in the public eye by National Enquirer stories, not movie roles

She was in a short-lived TV series on one of the lesser cable networks I believe, where she played the V.P. of the U.S who as such became the honorary head of a Secret Intelligence Agency or some such nonesense. Although the premise sounds silly, she was actually excellent in it- SS is really able to pull of dramatic roles, especially ones that call for her to play the Alpha female. I was impressed by her work in it.

[quote]Her dating history is suspect. Looks like she dated gay men and never really had serious relationship.

I think two six year marriages count as serious.

[QUOTE] This site is dedicated to the mystery and intrigue surrounding the scar on Sharon Stone's neck. Few believe me, many deny it exists, and no one knows how she got it. It almost looks as if she's been beheaded, had her throat slit open, or had routine head transplant surgery.

[QUOTE] Sharon Stone herself has now acknowledged the scar and even mentioned this site in recent interviews. She even said that "next there will be a site about my sphincter."

[QUOTE] Also, while I appreciate all the compliments on my beauty and how much people want to make love to me, keep in mind that I AM NOT SHARON STONE. If you must send me love letters be warned they will be pubicly displayed in the Theory Forum.

R28 56 Lol. She’s in her mid 60s.

I never understood her career, either. She always looked like she was balding.

by Anonymousreply 34May 18, 2020 12:27 AM

She does look very old up close but she’s a beautiful old woman.

by Anonymousreply 35May 18, 2020 12:30 AM

I feel like Leslie Bibb is going to go this same route with her looks and her career. At least, I hope she does. I like her.

by Anonymousreply 36May 18, 2020 12:36 AM

"... skin loses its elasticity and collagen, and becomes “Crepey”,

On some people, mostly Northern European. Olive skin, black and others don't often look like a 90-yr. old's nutsack.

by Anonymousreply 37May 18, 2020 12:44 AM

She was great in The Muse and iconic in Casino.

by Anonymousreply 38May 18, 2020 12:53 AM

R34. I was wrong. She is 62. I didn't see anyone in her dating history that looked like a soul mate. well Known gays or greasy looking characters. Gay men have terrible taste in women. You guys think that Cruise and rob Lowe were good matches for Melissa Gilbert.

by Anonymousreply 39May 18, 2020 4:40 AM

I thought it was pretty well known in the gossip world that Sherell Aston did work on her (I think it was a lower face lift) back around the time of Basic Instinct 2. That was excellent work on, unlike the bolt one that she spotted in that movie (which I guess she had removed?)

I don’t think it was inevitable at all that she ultimately went the “dignified” route, especially since her looks defined so much of her career, but good for her that she did. Whatever work she May continue To get done is very subtle and tasteful.

by Anonymousreply 40May 18, 2020 4:50 AM

I’m all about the lower facelift...it can drastically improve one’s overall appearance but doesn’t result in the weird “pulled” look of a full lift. Plus, most of the time it doesn’t look done. Look at the taint jawlines of Jennifer Lopez, Jenifer Aniston and I suspect a skilled surgeon is responsible.

by Anonymousreply 41May 18, 2020 5:37 AM

I think Sharon is one of lucky ones who will age gracefully. Someone said she is 58 but isnt she 60 or 61?

by Anonymousreply 42May 18, 2020 10:22 AM

[quote]While riding horseback as a child, Sharon Stone ran into a taut cord that sliced her neck, leaving her with a scar that’s allegedly one of the largest to be routinely concealed in publicity pics. It even merited its own (now-defunct) site, SharonStonesScar.com.

by Anonymousreply 43May 18, 2020 11:28 AM

Why do theses dykes feel it necessary to have beards in their sixties??? Mary Tyler Moore was one. Just creepy. Stone did not age gracefully.

by Anonymousreply 44May 18, 2020 3:11 PM

[quote]This is why I love her and Helen Mirren. They embrace their age. I find that more attractive than a face full of fillers.

Haaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!!!!

Mirren had a major face and neck lift several years ago.
