Olly Alexander talked about how when he was preparing to release music with his group, a publicist sat down with him and said something like "Why do people need to know? It's your private life..." etc. etc. Olly obviously paid her no mind but I expect Bash's team have said similar things to him.

Actually paid to comment on this one. Usually I lurk around.. but here we have gays I vaguely know! And one of their family members. Couldn’t pass up the chat, this never happens.
Bash is gay. Him & Joe are together. They have been for going on a year I’d say but that is a guess from general observation of Joes appearance in Bash’s friend & family circles I see on socials/from general chats in the office with the family member (I say office, usually more zoom 😫).
I am kinda puzzled why they both appear to be actively avoiding anything that would confirm they are a couple in public (privately, different from what I’ve seen). Privacy is one thing but skirting around doing the ‘best friend’ thing.. weird 🤷🏼♀️

I’ve long followed Bash on socials. He had a big social media overhaul recently. Deleted loads of photos, not just Joe related. It happened with the then unknowns on Its A Sin.. I remember browsing through old photos after episode one and then suddenly, they were all gone. I’m guessing when a show blows up & they get that blue tick, they get told to do a bit of a clean up from their agents. Or chose to make some photos private now they are being shared with a lot more people. Joes about to hit 1 million on Insta.

Well, for one, the cast had to strictly match their characters sexuality & gender. So arguably Bash could be an angry, confused, closeted gay but he’s def gay. The pride flag pin he always wears would be a bit confusing as well if he was trying to hide his sexuality. & there are interviews with him saying the show would have helped him ‘feel seen’ as teenager.
He’s hardly hiding in the closet in my opinion. He’s def keeping his relationship with Joe ambiguous though. Curious to see if they’ll be a bit more obvious now the shows had its successful moment..

I thought Kit's overall performance was better than Joe or Bash's. I thought the acting in the assault scene was much too over the top, both Bash and Joe. And, while I know the intent of the show is to be uplifting and lighter fare than the typical depressing, Joe's grinning from ear to ear when he's spent a semester or more being bullied wasn't believable. Even if he was attracted to Nick on sight, he should have been more reticent/subdued when they first greet each other.

I’m not sure how much they could have bonded filming, they had about 3 scenes together. Bash cannot have been on set that much. I mean, they are what, 18/20, so chances of it being ever lasting love is probably pretty slim. But they’ve made it a year or so, so presumably Bash has spent a while liking him. It is 'southern standard' the generic voice of middle class south East England. This is basically a slightly less glossy RP which most people of that background have. I have it as well just because I grew up in the home counties, despite the fact that I went to comprehensive school. Although some of my friends still think I am much posher than them because I have less distinctive accent markers. For instance some of them have retained the Hertfordshire/Essex sounds like 'th' sounding like an 'f' (three sounding like free).

I think Joe will do better as well. Not on a global scale but within the UK. I’m in the UK too & he’ll be fine looks wise. I can see him blagging something with Russell TD. There’s a real supportive LTGBQ scene emerging in British acting.. Joe being openly out will help him.

Arguably you are correct R411.. Joe has very quietly come out. But I don’t think it’s just Bash semi-hiding their relationship. I think they’ve either both been told to keep it on the down low or they’ve chosen too themselves. Bash has actually left up more photos of Joe than Joe has of Bash on Insta. In particular one of the more obvious ones where they are on a roof terrace looking very cute & couple like. And even more recent ones, if you swipe, there’s Joe. Joe, less so.
