Prepare for the return of Seinfeld!

Friends in the UK (who thought Frasier and Big Bang Theory both very clever, for Americans) hated Seinfeld, a few explaining it was "too New York...and too Jewish, maybe."
It was one of those series I caught only in syndication (before the show closed its run), something I had as I was making dinner in the evenings, and I came to really like it. It was interesting that each show, already compact, was a series of fragments. "The Sponge" is about Elaine and her quest to make 60 sponges last, but it's also the episode where Kramer is harassed by the AIDS Walk "ribbon bullies," George betrays a confidence about Jerry, that he only says he still wears size 31 pants as in college, but in fact he buys size 32 and replaces the size tags out of vanity; and Gerry dates an AIDS Walk volunteer whom he suspects of being too good and virginal, only to find boxes of sponges in her closet. More than other shows, people tend to remember these separate parts of each episode and much less about how they come together. It's a clever element for a series in syndication, making it very viewable out of sequence. For all that, I haven't watched a Seinfeld episode in many years and wonder how well it holds up, especially in the UK where I've never found much if any enthusiasm for the series by people who have seen it.

I think returns should not be reboots. See how Jon Stewart bombs. Is best to do something new that builds on your past success. Taking ti you Jerry.
