"How do we hate thee, Gym? Let us count the ways."

by Anonymousreply 1October 18, 2023 6:17 PM

Good riddance. No one likes Gym. And apparently, no one is afraid of Trump anymore.

by Anonymousreply 2October 18, 2023 6:19 PM

He really is one of the most odious motherfuckers in recent memory. I hope this is embarrassing the shit out of him.

by Anonymousreply 4October 18, 2023 6:22 PM

Gaye Gym Jordan- I support The Ohio State University Wrestling team!!

Gaye Gym Lied!! I sent that to Gaye Gym every other day on X or Twitter.

by Anonymousreply 5October 18, 2023 6:22 PM

[quote] And apparently, no one is afraid of Trump anymore.

The fact that so many votes are going to this loser suggests you’re mistaken.

by Anonymousreply 6October 18, 2023 6:25 PM

He’s going to ask Polly to peg him hard with the thick dildo, since he humiliated himself. Twice.

by Anonymousreply 7October 18, 2023 6:25 PM

At least he can comfort himself with his wrestlers in singlets.

by Anonymousreply 8October 18, 2023 6:26 PM

But clearly not everyone is afraid of Trump. That is a good sign.

by Anonymousreply 9October 18, 2023 6:27 PM

Womp fucking Womp!

Meth mouthed pipsqueak needs to GTFO.

by Anonymousreply 10October 18, 2023 6:31 PM

Is he going for a round 3 humiliation? Dumb sub.

by Anonymousreply 11October 18, 2023 6:32 PM

An analyst said that it was the moderate Republicans ( rising from the grave) who stated to the MAGAts that they would not let the insurrectionists take control.

by Anonymousreply 12October 18, 2023 6:36 PM

Is anyone surprised that we haven't heard from Gaetz or Boebert who were so visible to the media when they deposed McCarthy?

by Anonymousreply 13October 18, 2023 6:37 PM

How many spiteful Republican votes would the Democrats need to elect Hakeem Jeffries?

by Anonymousreply 14October 18, 2023 6:39 PM

I cannot help but see an aged Jeffrey Dahmer when I look at Jim Jordan.

by Anonymousreply 15October 18, 2023 6:43 PM

I hope they don't cave in and vote for him on #3. On CNN minutes ago, Kevin urged him to continue as it took him 15 tries to finally get in.

However, these are different times. 2 wars and the debt limit is up next month.

Kevin also stated that the DEMS can no longer say that they are a party for the people and they were part of making him no longer Speaker.....which is BS as they would have done the same.

MAKE CALL TO YOUR REP OFFICE TO SAY NOT TO VOTE FOR JIM JORDAN. HE CAN NOT GET IN!!!!!!!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 16October 18, 2023 6:49 PM

[quote] How many spiteful Republican votes would the Democrats need to elect Hakeem Jeffries?

That would actually, truly suck for Jeffries. Constantly going out every day to get votes from a very hostile majority party would suck every minute of every day.

I do think they could all come together to support some relatively innocuous Republican. There are no moderates really, but there are the sane and the insane, and they could probably find some sane Republican to settle on.

by Anonymousreply 17October 18, 2023 6:56 PM

They would be clueless to put him up for a 3rd vote. Read the room.

by Anonymousreply 18October 18, 2023 6:56 PM

[quote] Kevin also stated that the DEMS can no longer say that they are a party for the people and they were part of making him no longer Speaker.....which is BS as they would have done the same.

No matter how badly Repugs fuck things up, they always find a way to blame the Democrats

by Anonymousreply 20October 18, 2023 6:56 PM

So true, r20. And of course it comes from Republicans admitting that they themselves pretty much don't give a fuck and therefore it is up to Democrats to be the only party that gives a fuck about governing.

by Anonymousreply 21October 18, 2023 6:58 PM

[quote]Kevin also stated that the DEMS can no longer say that they are a party for the people and they were part of making him no longer Speaker.....which is BS as they would have done the same.

Why aren't the DEMS getting us out of the mess we've gotten ourselves into?

by Anonymousreply 22October 18, 2023 7:01 PM

Can’t we find five Repug House members to slip a roofie to so they miss tomorrow’s vote?

Come boys, we can do this.

by Anonymousreply 23October 18, 2023 7:02 PM

Even vile Republicans seem to realize that you can’t put an election denier in the Speaker role, before a Presidential election. Plus he ignored subpoenas and was a planner of the scheme for Pence to not accept electors No mercy for Gym.

by Anonymousreply 24October 18, 2023 7:08 PM

So glad that asshole lost.

by Anonymousreply 25October 18, 2023 7:12 PM

Like a former champion wrestler repeatedly pinned to the mat, sad Gym seems in denial.

WaPo lists these five names as ones to watch when this inevitably lands in the septic tank:

Here’s a quick rundown of the other names worth watching... and lo and behold, there's dear Elise:

Rep. Kevin Hern (R-Okla.): Hern, who made a fortune owning McDonald’s franchises, has been in Congress less than five years. But his stock has risen rapidly, and he chairs the Republican Study Committee.

Rep. Tom Emmer (R-Minn.): The other candidate viewed as being potentially next in line, Emmer serves as the No. 3 House Republican and was due to run against Hern for majority leader.

Rep. Patrick T. McHenry (R-N.C.): McHenry is serving as speaker pro tempore, having been selected by McCarthy to steward the House in his absence. But many are floating him as a potential consensus pick if other, more eager options don’t pan out.

Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.): She came into Congress as a moderate, but of late she’s gone pretty much full MAGA. She also serves in leadership as chairwoman of the House Republican Conference — the No. 4 slot.

Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.): An unlikely scenario, but McCarthy has made it clear he would entertain the party ultimately coming back to him to fill an unfillable vacancy.

JORDAN NEEDS TO BE STOPPED AS HE WILL ONLY FEED TRUMP.

THE GOP NEEDS TO MAKE SURE NOT TO VOTE JORDAN IN SO WE START TO KILL THE MONSTER.

by Anonymousreply 31October 18, 2023 7:43 PM

If true, this is just delicious. Talk about twisting the knife...

"NEWS: Some of Jim Jordan's opponents tell me they've been purposely staggering their "no" votes over multiple ballots -- a strategy designed to show Jordan's speakership opposition is only growing.

And that's why they tell me Jordan will bleed even more support on a third ballot"

Gym Jordan bleeding? What flavor of vodka to pair with my soda?

by Anonymousreply 34October 18, 2023 7:45 PM

Does it ever occur to megalomanics like Jordan that there are a lot of people out there, both in Congress and many more outside the Beltway, and throughout the United States who think Jordan is a dirtball scumbag, a disgusting, perverted creep, a lying, thieving con artist/grifter? Does he ever read what's printed about him in newspapers, social media and through emails/snail mail that are sent to his congressional office?

And this latest debacle just shows what I've been saying all along: the clown couldn't get elected dog catcher outside of his gerrymandered district in Bumfucke, Ohio. Which is exactly why he gets by with the shit he gets by with, because he's answerable to no one.

by Anonymousreply 35October 18, 2023 7:46 PM

R32, WOW and amazing. I love the torture of it all!!!

by Anonymousreply 37October 18, 2023 7:51 PM

{quote]Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) said he was committed to as many rounds of voting as necessary to put Jordan in the speaker’s chair.Speaking outside the Capitol, Roy said he was “virulently oppose[d]” to discussion of a bipartisan deal that would expand the powers of House speaker pro tempore Patrick McHenry, as some Democrats and Republicans have suggested.

[quote]“To do that would be playing games with the third in line to the presidency,” Roy said.

Isn't playing games the very thing the MAGAts have been doing throughout this entire fiasco?

Time to get the phone banks up and running so they can make threatening, intimidating phone calls to Congresspeople who won't kiss Jim Jordan's fat, white, perverted, entitled white ass.

It's the MAGAt way: if they don't see things your way, threaten to kill them.

by Anonymousreply 45October 18, 2023 8:47 PM

And I forgot: if anybody complains about being threatened, yell and scream and stomp up and down about how your civil rights are being violated and how the country is being taken over by dirty commie pinkos.

Again, it's the MAGAt way.

by Anonymousreply 46October 18, 2023 8:50 PM

How long can this possibly go on for?

by Anonymousreply 48October 18, 2023 9:19 PM

^ until he give up or more GOP vote for an alternative.

He doesn't believe Biden is the President. How will that work?? And, he is Trump's bitch.

by Anonymousreply 49October 18, 2023 9:20 PM

There is only one reason why Jordan is not giving up: Trump. They are trying to please their leader but it’s failing miserably.

by Anonymousreply 50October 18, 2023 9:43 PM

^ and that is why he needs to fail. Trump needs to know his hold is loosening.

It is critical that he doesn't get Speaker.

by Anonymousreply 51October 18, 2023 9:49 PM

R38, according to the NYT reporting, Chip Roy said he was "violently opposed" not "virulently opposed." Given Jan. 6, the "violently" part is even more telling. Roy is a nutcase.

by Anonymousreply 54October 18, 2023 10:27 PM

Gym’s failure gives me hope that MAGA is over. At least weakened. Sorry group that cannot get anything done.

by Anonymousreply 55October 18, 2023 10:39 PM

I don't think it's that so much as yet another illustration of the very narrow margin between us and disaster. This is coming down in significant part to Republicans in swing states who are making a choice to save their own asses by defying the party craziness. Just as the suburbs and suburban women were a big part of what carried Biden to the White House.

by Anonymousreply 56October 18, 2023 10:45 PM

R42, part of me thinks she did that on purpose. I think she want that role, and was subtly sabotaging Gym.

But R17, the moderates wouldn’t just be supporting Jeffries. In doing so they would be supporting an entire way of operating the House including an immediate policy agenda of approving the appropriations, supporting the war in Ukraine, aid to Israel, etc. Democrats have actual policies so it wouldn’t be the student council popularity contest that it is on the GOP side. There would be an agreement as to how a moderate, bi-partisan House should be run not this flying by the seat of your pants/I can’t count McCarthy bullshit.

by Anonymousreply 87October 19, 2023 12:50 PM

by Anonymousreply 92October 19, 2023 3:24 PM

BTW...There is "NOTHING CUTE" about Patrick McHenry.

by Anonymousreply 97October 19, 2023 4:27 PM

R96 Don't count on it working. It fucks with the traditions of the House (which some Rs won't like - enough to sink it?) and puts this pipsqueak third in line for the Presidency which the Ds won't like. It may happen, but I'll be surprised if it does.

by Anonymousreply 98October 19, 2023 4:43 PM

Does anyone else think Gym has personal issues? I will bet you anything he is hiding something perverse and sick like child porn.

by Anonymousreply 100October 19, 2023 4:46 PM

Why won't the Republicans nominate someone else?

by Anonymousreply 101October 19, 2023 5:16 PM

"Does anyone else think Gym has personal issues?"

You mean other than the fact that this human turd couldn't get elected dog catcher outside of his gerrymandered district, he could never win a statewide or national election, most of the people he works with and comes into contact with on a daily basis hate his guts, he's sitting on a huge sex scandal at Ohio State, he's a Russian plant/agent and he's a treasonous threat to democracy?

Other than those inconsequential matters, I can't think of a single thing.

by Anonymousreply 102October 19, 2023 5:22 PM

So what does this mean for his political career? When McCarthy was finally elected on his 15th ballot, insiders and strategists like Rick Wilson were giving him 6 months and predicted the end of his political career. Lo and behold.

Jordan was pretty much publicly deballed by his own party. He had over 80 caucus members vote against him privately and is widely disliked. What's next for him? I can't see him going to work for a lobbying firm. Would he fit in on K Street or does he have the skills? He's a sledgehammer dressed in polyester. I'm sure his less-than-intelligent constituents, even the aging boomers and elderly whose Medicare and SS benefits he wants to cut, will keep voting for him. But does he want to return to Congress so diminished?

by Anonymousreply 103October 19, 2023 5:31 PM

I agree with everything you said, R102, except the Russian plant. He is a true believer. They don't need to plant him. LOL! He was Tea Party and Sedition Caucus anti abortion, anti Gay, and 100% in favor of government shut downs for years pre dating Trump. He's certifiably nuts. A fanatic. He has a natural, reflexive inclination towards Chaos. In Trump he found a political soulmate. The Russians know who to buy. They don't need to buy Gym.

Another rep told Raju that Jordan hasn't yet formally withdrawn his candidacy, he's going to reach out once again to the 22 objectors from yesterday to see if he can sway them.

by Anonymousreply 111October 19, 2023 7:23 PM

Hmmm, wonder what the Democrats will demand. Weirdly, this could be a good thing. It is sort of ridiculous that so many things can't be brought to the floor of the House just because some assholes oppose them. It would be interesting if the House became just a little more flexible in what can and cannot be brought to the floor.

Gawd, these fucking snowflakes! Taking another 2 weeks off to clear their heads! Unbelievable!

The GOP is trying to push this "pro-temp as Speaker" plan but Democrats should push back and really GRIND THEIR FACES IN THIS SHIT. If they want a functioning House with a functioning Speaker, Hakeem Jeffries is ready to take the gavel. Fuck this shit about kicking this down the road until the 3rd of January 2024 - all that does is accommodate the dysfunctional GOP House. There's no reason for Democrats to go along with that. Although I very much hope it doesn't happen r134, we actually have been through this shit before. The entire nation doesn't explode. It just is a pain in the ass for awhile, while fuckers and goobers dick around shutting this or that down. And then finally the morons realize, oh yeah, government actually does useful shit. I think it would rebound very badly on the Republicans, actually, despite their determination to make it happen.

June Jordan now calling for a third Speaker vote Friday at 10 am.

Why, June, why???

by Anonymousreply 146October 20, 2023 12:20 AM

If by some chance he should persuade enough holdouts and be installed as speaker, he'll be spectacularly hobbled by this mess. Will that rule still hold where one person can call a vote to kick him out?

by Anonymousreply 151October 20, 2023 3:43 AM

I'm telling right now, that the Sedition Caucus has no intention of opening up the government. Their goal is to shut it down.

by Anonymousreply 152October 20, 2023 3:44 AM

If June Jordan knows that another vote could lead to more violence/threats, and he knows he will lose the vote, why is he endangering his colleagues?

by Anonymousreply 153October 20, 2023 5:09 AM

They’ve fucked themselves into a corner. They will never accept a non-MAGA speaker, so they never will elect anyone. They seem to be taking orders from Bannon and Sean Hannity. Once again, there will have to be a crisis to reopen the government again, because this doesn’t have an endgame.

Jordan and Trump believe that he can keep having votes and wearing people down. He is totally clueless about how to negotiate. Jordan has never in his life had this much attention and with Trump's backing he is in ecstasy. Marathon votes and bullying. In fact the constant votes is a form of bullying. What gets me is how totally wrapped up in their own drama these assholes are. They are not even conscious of how this looks not just to us, the voters, but to the rest of the world. And yes, this is part of their hopeful coup d'etat.

by Anonymousreply 158October 20, 2023 12:58 PM

3rd big loss for the lipless one. Lost even bigger on the 3rd go-round. 25 votes against him.

CHUMP!!

by Anonymousreply 159October 20, 2023 5:17 PM

Now the Republicans who voted out McCarthy are saying they will be willing to accept a punishment if other members will vote for June Jordan. These people are crazy. They want Jordan to help Trump in 2024, at any cost. Read the room, bitches!!!

by Anonymousreply 160October 20, 2023 5:47 PM

^ Some of them were also co-conspirators/participants in the 1/6 insurrection. I think that's also part of their motivation--avoiding criminal charges by shutting down the government and/or installing Dump as dictator.

by Anonymousreply 161October 20, 2023 5:50 PM

So how many times does Jordan have to lose before someone steps in?

by Anonymousreply 162October 20, 2023 6:00 PM

Matt Greta is lobbying hard for the Speaker position and he’ll get spanked harder than June.

I am enjoying the show however. Let the humiliations keep coming and sending the long gloved arm of the law up their asses. No lube.

by Anonymousreply 163October 20, 2023 6:10 PM

This is Trump's doing. And if Jordan fails, it will be because another Trumper takes Jordan's place at Trump's direction. Trump will back away when he realizes how wildly unpopular Jordan is. Of course Mc Carthy took 15 ballots before getting elected. Maybe Trump and Gym and their lieutenants believe they can shoehorn Gym in with two or three dozen ballots. Good. let the resentment build. I cannot believe it, but apparently, McCarthy stood on the floor to nominate Jordan on this 3rd ballot talked about him being an effective legislator, and the House erupted in laughter.

by Anonymousreply 164October 20, 2023 6:20 PM

Bingo, R161.

Gaetz, Jordan, Scalise, Boebert, MTG et al are all desperately trying to shut down the government because they all know they're toast as for as investigations into Jan 6th 2021. They were actively involved in its planning and execution each and every step of the way. And barring shutting down the government, they'll just play the delay game until January 2025, when they're desperately hoping Trump is sworn in again and make the whole damn thing disappear into thin air.

These clowns are guilty. They all know it and they know they're crooked, lying asses are going to end up jail, so they'll do anything to prevent that from happening.

by Anonymousreply 165October 20, 2023 6:22 PM

R164, the laughter? Yes, that actually happened.

by Anonymousreply 166October 20, 2023 6:46 PM

CNN: Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said that “unfortunately Jim is no longer going to be the nominee” after the conference’s vote to remove Jim Jordan as their Speaker designee.

“We’ll have to go back to the drawing board. What history will look at the crazy eights led by Gaetz, the amount of damage they’ve done to this party, this country, is insurmountable. I've never seen this amount of damage done with just a few people for their own personalities," McCarthy said.

WaPo: House Republicans, meeting behind closed doors, voted Friday by secret ballot for Rep. The vote to remove Jordan was 112 to 86.

by Anonymousreply 194October 21, 2023 1:34 AM

Democratic mandate in 2024 imminent. WH, Senate, House, probably a few governor mansions too. The GOP chose to ignore the writing on the wall since Trump was elected in 2016. Went so far as a violent insurrection. They’re doubling down out of desperation to avoid the consequences of their treason, but they’ll ultimately, and spectacularly, fail.

by Anonymousreply 196October 21, 2023 4:01 AM

And I'm sick of the media going all gaga over Republicans every time one of them wins an election IN A RED STATE. They were just doing that with the Louisiana Governor's race--it's Louisiana FFS, hardly a bastion of liberalism. This is how we got all of the red wave talk in 2022.

The best thing Jordan and McCarthy could do is to retire from Congress rather than stay there and be embarrassed every day. McCarthy has actually said he may leave before his term is up. He's probably been looking for an outside gig since he was kicked to the curb. Just as soon as he finds one he's probably gone.

But then, that's the way those scumbags are. They're only in Congress as long as things are going their ways. When that changes they're out like the wind. They could give a rat's ass about working for their constituents.

His endorsed candidate for SOTH lost votes with each subsequent round

He wasn’t even nominated for SOTH himself

The 2 co-defendants in his Georgia RICO case, both lawyers, pled guilty

[quote]Forgot to say that if Emmer gets the Dems to go for it with concessions, there's a very good chance he would lose votes from his own side.

Actually, this is what I don't understand about this whole thing: the Republicans who voted against Jordan are probably going to be primaried now anyway just for going against the wishes of Dump (who wanted Jordan) and their psycho base, so does it even matter anymore? It would seem they're politically toast now anyway, so they might as well say fuck it and go ahead and make a deal with the Democrats and elect someone reasonable to be Speaker and put an end to this nonsense.
