I hope they don't cave in and vote for him on #3. On CNN minutes ago, Kevin urged him to continue as it took him 15 tries to finally get in.
However, these are different times. 2 wars and the debt limit is up next month.
Kevin also stated that the DEMS can no longer say that they are a party for the people and they were part of making him no longer Speaker.....which is BS as they would have done the same.
MAKE CALL TO YOUR REP OFFICE TO SAY NOT TO VOTE FOR JIM JORDAN. HE CAN NOT GET IN!!!!!!!!!!!

[quote] How many spiteful Republican votes would the Democrats need to elect Hakeem Jeffries?
That would actually, truly suck for Jeffries. Constantly going out every day to get votes from a very hostile majority party would suck every minute of every day.
I do think they could all come together to support some relatively innocuous Republican. There are no moderates really, but there are the sane and the insane, and they could probably find some sane Republican to settle on.
| by Anonymous | reply 17 | October 18, 2023 6:56 PM |

WaPo lists these five names as ones to watch when this inevitably lands in the septic tank:
Here’s a quick rundown of the other names worth watching... and lo and behold, there's dear Elise:
Rep. Kevin Hern (R-Okla.): Hern, who made a fortune owning McDonald’s franchises, has been in Congress less than five years. But his stock has risen rapidly, and he chairs the Republican Study Committee.
Rep. Tom Emmer (R-Minn.): The other candidate viewed as being potentially next in line, Emmer serves as the No. 3 House Republican and was due to run against Hern for majority leader.
Rep. Patrick T. McHenry (R-N.C.): McHenry is serving as speaker pro tempore, having been selected by McCarthy to steward the House in his absence. But many are floating him as a potential consensus pick if other, more eager options don’t pan out.
Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.): She came into Congress as a moderate, but of late she’s gone pretty much full MAGA. She also serves in leadership as chairwoman of the House Republican Conference — the No. 4 slot.
Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.): An unlikely scenario, but McCarthy has made it clear he would entertain the party ultimately coming back to him to fill an unfillable vacancy.

Does it ever occur to megalomanics like Jordan that there are a lot of people out there, both in Congress and many more outside the Beltway, and throughout the United States who think Jordan is a dirtball scumbag, a disgusting, perverted creep, a lying, thieving con artist/grifter? Does he ever read what's printed about him in newspapers, social media and through emails/snail mail that are sent to his congressional office?
And this latest debacle just shows what I've been saying all along: the clown couldn't get elected dog catcher outside of his gerrymandered district in Bumfucke, Ohio. Which is exactly why he gets by with the shit he gets by with, because he's answerable to no one.

Other than those inconsequential matters, I can't think of a single thing.

So what does this mean for his political career? When McCarthy was finally elected on his 15th ballot, insiders and strategists like Rick Wilson were giving him 6 months and predicted the end of his political career. Lo and behold.
Jordan was pretty much publicly deballed by his own party. He had over 80 caucus members vote against him privately and is widely disliked. What's next for him? I can't see him going to work for a lobbying firm. Would he fit in on K Street or does he have the skills? He's a sledgehammer dressed in polyester. I'm sure his less-than-intelligent constituents, even the aging boomers and elderly whose Medicare and SS benefits he wants to cut, will keep voting for him. But does he want to return to Congress so diminished?

I hate that Reps who are voting against him are being intimidated or threatened.....please stay strong, vote in more numbers and know you are doing the right thing.
If you are in an area where GOP Reps are voting no, please call and send your encouragement. Also, call those who are voting for Jordan and let them know they are not standing on the correct side of history, they are voting for someone who does not think Biden should be president and that Jordan was instrumental in helping Trump pull off the January 6th incident and after affects.

For now, at least. When 11/16/23 comes around, the entire governmental system will come grinding to a halt. That's five weeks from today.
Will these idiots get their shit together in that time? To me, that's highly doubtful.

I think it would rebound very badly on the Republicans, actually, despite their determination to make it happen.

They’ve fucked themselves into a corner. They will never accept a non-MAGA speaker, so they never will elect anyone. They seem to be taking orders from Bannon and Sean Hannity. Once again, there will have to be a crisis to reopen the government again, because this doesn’t have an endgame.

Jordan and Trump believe that he can keep having votes and wearing people down. He is totally clueless about how to negotiate. Jordan has never in his life had this much attention and with Trump's backing he is in ecstasy. Marathon votes and bullying. In fact the constant votes is a form of bullying. What gets me is how totally wrapped up in their own drama these assholes are. They are not even conscious of how this looks not just to us, the voters, but to the rest of the world. And yes, this is part of their hopeful coup d'etat.

This is Trump's doing. And if Jordan fails, it will be because another Trumper takes Jordan's place at Trump's direction. Trump will back away when he realizes how wildly unpopular Jordan is. Of course Mc Carthy took 15 ballots before getting elected. Maybe Trump and Gym and their lieutenants believe they can shoehorn Gym in with two or three dozen ballots. Good. let the resentment build. I cannot believe it, but apparently, McCarthy stood on the floor to nominate Jordan on this 3rd ballot talked about him being an effective legislator, and the House erupted in laughter.
| by Anonymous | reply 164 | October 20, 2023 6:20 PM |
Bingo, R161.
Gaetz, Jordan, Scalise, Boebert, MTG et al are all desperately trying to shut down the government because they all know they're toast as for as investigations into Jan 6th 2021. They were actively involved in its planning and execution each and every step of the way. And barring shutting down the government, they'll just play the delay game until January 2025, when they're desperately hoping Trump is sworn in again and make the whole damn thing disappear into thin air.
These clowns are guilty. They all know it and they know they're crooked, lying asses are going to end up jail, so they'll do anything to prevent that from happening.

“We’ll have to go back to the drawing board. What history will look at the crazy eights led by Gaetz, the amount of damage they’ve done to this party, this country, is insurmountable. I've never seen this amount of damage done with just a few people for their own personalities," McCarthy said.

The best thing Jordan and McCarthy could do is to retire from Congress rather than stay there and be embarrassed every day. McCarthy has actually said he may leave before his term is up. He's probably been looking for an outside gig since he was kicked to the curb. Just as soon as he finds one he's probably gone.
But then, that's the way those scumbags are. They're only in Congress as long as things are going their ways. When that changes they're out like the wind. They could give a rat's ass about working for their constituents.
