Peter Marino. Spill the dirt.
Robert Spencer
Gay? BDSM? Bully? Racist Employer? Closet Queen? Fashion Princess? Tasteless Turd? Just ridiculous ?

Supremely talented.
He could look like anything on earth and still be chased after.

Honestly- incredibly talented as R1 stated. Have had friends work in his office- really great team - super rigorous and outstanding taste level. As for his “uniform” I’ve never understood it- but he seems happy- so I guess that is all that matters…

Let's start with a "Who" and then work our way down.

Exactly R3, I've seen his photos on society page parties but have no idea who he is or what he does.

Exactly how & why is he married to a straight woman?!
Here's his wife Jane, she appears older than Peter. They have a daughter.

He is indeed a horrible person. Apparently you have to sign a one year contract that basically makes you his slave.
I did see a great take-down of him once. I was at a dinner party, and he was bitching about the incompetence of his employees. I said that one had designed a dining room where (horrors) there was not enough room for a tea cart to pass. Nan Kemper looked him straight in the eye and said in her Lady Bracknell/ Violet Crowley voice, "Tea carts don't belong in a dining room." The room went silent. Peter Marino and his wife soon made an excuse to leave. I heard that two clients fired him the next day. I don't know if that part is true.

He probably has the best clientele - does impeccable work.

UK here, so I have never heard of him. Based on the picture he is good with colours and a big puddle jumper.

Oh for fucks sake, he's a closet elder queen masquerading in leather gear to butch it up. It's all for show. His only talent is as a parasite in high society who he has conned into believing he has some special talent as an interior designer. In reality, he has a team of actual designers doing the real creative work for him while he takes all the credit and hit's on them too. He would be nowhere without his connections and grifting skills with wealthy old ladies of NY. He's convinced them he's some kind of Andy Warhol reincarnation in leather pantsuit. When he opens his mouth, the purse drops out.
Meanwhile, he is being sued by several of his male employees for grouping them and forcing them into awkward sexual conversations about what he would like to do with them.

OP, you should have included "All of the Above" in your poll.

Bisexual sociopath
[quote]Jonathan Michaud, a former textile specialist at the firm, filed a lawsuit in New York State Court, accusing Marino of sexually harassing him and making homophobic slurs.

Extremely talented. One of the most sought after commercial interior designers who has designed the flagship stores for Louis Vuitton, Dior, Armani, Fendi, and Zegna - all of them repeat clients. His work is tasteful yet a bit edgy. Because he's at the top of his game, naturally he's a target for all sorts of complaints. Paraphrasing a line from Devil Wears Prada - working for him for a few years would likely launch any junior designer into their own career. He has a large group of loyal employees who have been with him for years.

Until I read this thread I’d never even heard of him, but he just looks like a total douche bag.

I have inside information that “starchitects” (Thom Mayne, Renzo Piano, Eric Owen Moss) don’t see him as an equal, and barely know who he is. It’s because he’s not that talented, and is basically the architect version of a retail queen.

So he's the alpha shop bottom?
| by Anonymous | reply 17 | May 6, 2022 3:56 PM |
Wait - he’s straight married?!? How weird. Has he ever acknowledged gayness? Never knew that about him.
Interior design is a hustle. Sure he has good taste - but to be successful it’s all about the hustle, connections and ambition.

I wonder what Simon Doonan thinks?

Isn't he Kaye Scarpetta's sidekick?
| by Anonymous | reply 20 | May 6, 2022 3:58 PM |
Yes, he's a shop bottom. Anyone who thinks he's a brilliant architect is just dazzled by designer labels. These are the same people who are still drooling over Frank Gehry.

Peter Marino is not even attractive. He looks slimy and he's got little beady eyes which are too close together.
His wife? They must have some sort of odd arrangement. This man is obviously gay.
Their bizarro relationship reminds me of fashion designer Ric Owens and his much older odd looking wife, Michèle Lamy. Michèle is 78, Ric is 59.
