Now Netflix has a Murdaugh series??

Writer Andrew Hansen

How many shows have there been about the Murdaugh?? I haven’t watched or read anything about this mess for a while so thought I’d watch this one. Wonder if Netflix was able to score more interviews than the other networks/streaming services?

Anyway, my main takeaway so far is damn Mallory Beach’s poor daddy is hot!!!

by Anonymousreply 40February 26, 2023 7:58 PM

I thought the same exact thing, OP. When I saw there was one coming to Netflix, I thought, "I think I saw that one" only to realize that there's already one docuseries on HBO and one on Discovery+ and now one on Netflix.

I've had sufficient.

by Anonymousreply 1February 23, 2023 3:21 AM

The whole family looks/looked like the name should have been Murder-Dough.

As in Poppin' Unfresh.

by Anonymousreply 2February 23, 2023 3:44 AM

He does seem kinda Southern Gay….(the hot daddy)

by Anonymousreply 4February 23, 2023 4:32 AM

I'm lazy, so I hope someone here will watch them all and tell us which one is the best.

by Anonymousreply 5February 23, 2023 4:33 AM

I started the first episode and turned it off. It's overkill. Nothing new.

by Anonymousreply 7February 23, 2023 4:44 AM

The Netflix one is not as good as the HBO one

by Anonymousreply 8February 23, 2023 4:46 AM

The live-streamed trial is sufficient daily drama and in progress - why watch chopped-up bits? Although this whole situation is so fascinating. I'd love to hear insights from locals/S Carolinians and such.

As always, the closed captioning is hilarious. I kid you not, there's a screenshot where the focus is on the defendant dirtbag, and the CC reads 'Motherfucker' --- !

by Anonymousreply 9February 23, 2023 4:47 AM

Does the HBO one have as many interviews with the other kids from the boat and their parents? I don’t think I’ve seen interviews with the other kids (other than Anthony) before.

by Anonymousreply 10February 23, 2023 11:46 AM

Anything new in this that's not in the HBO one?

by Anonymousreply 11February 23, 2023 12:42 PM

I was riveted but then again I hadn't been following this case at all.

by Anonymousreply 12February 23, 2023 6:09 PM

I was riveted, too. The boating accident was so sad. What a horrible family.

by Anonymousreply 13February 24, 2023 4:56 AM

R10 R13 I don’t think I’ll ever forget Mallory’s boyfriend (Anthony?) saying to the police, “His name is Murdaugh. GOOD LUCK.” It was so sarcastic and heartbreaking at the same time and was such an incredible moment that foreshadowed this entire disaster.

by Anonymousreply 14February 24, 2023 5:14 AM

It drives me crazy that not only does everyone pronounce “Murdaugh” differently, they also say “Alec” instead of Alex. Maybe it’s just the SC dialect..

by Anonymousreply 15February 24, 2023 11:54 AM

I’m sick of this ugly ginger fuck. He’s guilty

Plus, I think he killed the housekeeper too for the money.

by Anonymousreply 16February 24, 2023 3:07 PM

How did Alex kill the housekeeper without Maggie and Paul not knowing? I think his wife and kids were as shitty as him.

by Anonymousreply 17February 25, 2023 6:21 PM

I discovered this case and its coverage only this past weekend. It's like an extended episode-on-steroids of my series favorite "Midsomer Murders."

New village: Midsomer Hampton.

by Anonymousreply 18February 25, 2023 7:18 PM

I watched the HBO series after the Netflix series and they are essentially the same thing except for the Netflix show expanding on the boat crash.

by Anonymousreply 19February 25, 2023 7:39 PM

The Netflix one gained some points for showing some shirtless footage from Mr. Beach when he was a young daddy.

by Anonymousreply 20February 25, 2023 8:45 PM

R15 - I’m with you on the last name. At some point in the Netflix show Pa Murdaugh is asked if his name is Alexander and he replies, Yes, but I go by Alec.”

by Anonymousreply 21February 25, 2023 8:52 PM

I read somewhere that the Netflix doc is a good intro for people who aren't deep into the case, and HBO is the best doc.

by Anonymousreply 22February 25, 2023 10:45 PM

I dont know if Alex is guilty or not, but of course its sad that what happened to Mallory then Paul and his mother. Of course, if Paul was hot, it would be sadder.

by Anonymousreply 23February 25, 2023 11:52 PM

Is Mr. Beach gay? He sure pings to me with that body hotness.

by Anonymousreply 24February 26, 2023 12:03 AM

Was the poor gay boy gang raped by his closet ex buster and Paul ?

by Anonymousreply 25February 26, 2023 1:39 AM

The Netflix doc has more of the boat crash kids and family talking.

My biggest takeaway: When Paul was murdered, his ex-girlfriend told law enforcement: "Look at his daddy."

They had dated for three years. She'd gone on vacations with the family. For her to say that, is a huge red flag.

by Anonymousreply 26February 26, 2023 1:45 AM

There should be a "Murdaugh the Musical".

by Anonymousreply 27February 26, 2023 2:18 AM

I just watched At Close Range for the first time in decades, this needs a super stylish film with a phenomenal cast like that movie.

by Anonymousreply 28February 26, 2023 2:22 AM

I would like to learn a lot more about the young man and housekeeper’s deaths. I hope their families get some answers and justice.

by Anonymousreply 29February 26, 2023 12:02 PM

Same R29. And what is the new evidence that got the Stephen Smith case reopened?

by Anonymousreply 30February 26, 2023 1:27 PM

I haven’t been following this case at all so figured I should start watching something about it. I just started the Netflix series. Lots of good interviews so far.

by Anonymousreply 31February 26, 2023 1:31 PM

My main takeaway from the series: Mallory Beach's boyfriend needs to be in me, quite deeply.

R32, yes is so sexy. Pictures of him from the night of the crash shows how muscular he is too

by Anonymousreply 33February 26, 2023 2:27 PM

The red haired Murdaughs are so hideous. The only reason people hang around them and follow their every whim is they’re rich

by Anonymousreply 34February 26, 2023 2:28 PM

*Were* rich.

Even Paul, who was cuter than Buster, looked like an ugly little troll. And, God, the clothes he wore!

by Anonymousreply 35February 26, 2023 2:41 PM

I felt bad for Paul’s ex-girlfriend, who seemed like she hadn’t even begun to deal with the trauma of that abusive relationship and sticking with a guy who ended up killing her friend.

by Anonymousreply 36February 26, 2023 2:44 PM

Maggie was such a cunt in that 911 call about the housekeeper. She was acting like the whole thing was an inconvenience to her and that she barely knew the woman who’d been working for them for almost 20 years.

by Anonymousreply 37February 26, 2023 2:45 PM

The only way Paul, an ugly, violent drunk, had a girl friend at all was because of his wealth

by Anonymousreply 38February 26, 2023 3:22 PM

I’ve been thinking I should watch the HBO one, but just logged onto HBO Max and realized I’d already watched it! It’s hard to keep them all straight.

by Anonymousreply 39February 26, 2023 4:07 PM

Buster's smile is terrifying.

And I think at Paul's hearing, there was this painting of a horrifying looking man. I assume the artist was dumped in a river somewhere.
