If you don't work out your muscles get smaller and softer. Despite what many guys who have never worked out for an extended period of time believe muscle definition create an allusion of being bigger than you are. From the weight that he started from to his peak it could have taken him just three months of dedicated work. He was never big or ripped. If he works out again he'll gain the muscle back quicker because of muscle memory.

R2, I've noticed that a lot of gay men are obsessed with weighing around 130 despite their height and build.

I know a gay Filipino who's 5'8" and freaked out when the needle scale touched 150#. He spent all the former half of last year trying to lose at least 15 lbs. By August, he got down to 130, but his face took a toll. He had bags under his eyes and sunken cheeks. But he didn't care, as long as he weighed 130. He was so proud going around shirtless. I didn't have the heart to tell him that he had facial wasting. Plus, he's 43 and older people can't pull off a thin face 'cause then you start looking emaciated and ill.
