I'm wondering if the audio conversations are actual voice memos to Christina from Joan never heard before or if they just cut the trailer with lines from her movies. I'm not from the Joan Crawford era, but I will definitely watch this. I'm interested to learn more about Joan as a person and this whole fiasco from a different perspective in this era.

I'm a big fan of Joan's. I still enjoy her movies. I believe Christina because I know that parents can be sick fucks and appear to be normal very pleasant people to the outside world. I had two of my own.

Parental abuse is something that many of us experience throughout our youths and there are new generations to come along with their own stories of abusive parents. There were enough people of Joan's generation that knew her well and knew of the abuse that Christina and her brother were enduring. They are not pleasant stories where not only was Joan physically abusive but she played horrible mind games on her children as well.

Joan's youth was pretty horrible too. But she had no self-awareness whatsoever and made the terrible mistake of adopting children. Her legacy as a human being has been destroyed. But there will always be gay men to enjoy her movies.

Mommie Dearest was available for viewing on YouTube at no cost. There are hundreds of comments posted over there by viewers about their own abusive and neglectful parents, it is a common problem. Having a parent who just did their job to support and nurture you is the exception. Joan Crawford was an abused and neglected child. She was also infertile and the cycle of abuse could have ended with her.

I totally didn't, R6! It looked like a proper trailer with the MGM logo in the beginning. I feel stupid. I thought it was a real movie trailer 🤪

R2, the voice-over is from her appearance on Route 66 "Same picture, Different Frame." It's actually pretty spooky.
