Models Inc.!
William Jenkins
Anyone else remember the show? It starred Linda Gray and Carrie Ann Moss! I don’t think I ever watched it but it looked like a lot of fun. Was it?

It was fun up until they brought in Emma Samms and all of her call girls to take over the agency. Kylie Travis was the show for me, but after Emma the original cast had very little to do.

It wasn't as good as Paper Dolls.

It was baaaaaad. I think it was a Central Park West spin-off. I loved CPW, but gave up on Models very early in its run.

I really wish there was some sort of streaming service where you could watch all these short lived TV shows and unaired pilots, R2. I'll add Paper Dolls to 2000 Malibu Road and other long forgotten shows I'd love to see.

Models was a Melrose Place spinoff, actually. Linda Gray's character was introduced on MP as Amanda's mother.

Models Inc. was pure trash, and I LOVED it when I was a high-school student.

R4 I liked Pacific Palisades, especially once they brought Joan Collins on.

Yes i remember this show. Though i don't know why i chose to watch this as a kid 😆

We used to call it "Models Stink."

I caught 2000 Malibu road on YouTube in the last few years. I thought it was decent. I kinda wish it had gone on for longer.

Maybe models inc. could have gotten more life injected into it if they crossed it over with Beverly Hills, 90210 seeing as they all occupied the same universe.

I loved 2000 Malibu Road. Yes, it ended abruptly.

The first season/summer run was AWESOME with a murder mystery centered around who offed Stephanie Romanov's character. Lots of red herrings, campy courtroom scenes, etc...
Then it started it's full season run and introduced Emma Samms as well as having Romanov return as a new character who was a dead ringer for the old. In other words, it was awful and Gray was given less to do as Samms was given more and it was pretty obvious Gray was the superior actress.
They also gave Travis this new boyfriend who was lumpy and not cute at all.

R13 I remember my mother stopped watching as Gray was sidelined, she liked Samms on GH and thought she was ok on Dynasty, but mama was like, "you don't push Sue Ellen out of the spotlight, she is a legend!"

Was Models, Inc the first spin-off (Melrose Place) of a spin-off (Beverly Hills, 90210)?
| by Anonymous | reply 15 | December 16, 2021 4:06 PM |
No, there are other examples. But, I do believe it was the first soap example, primetime or daytime.

Wow, totally forgot about this forgettable show
| by Anonymous | reply 17 | December 16, 2021 4:15 PM |
What was the show that had a similar name but came out in the 2000s (maybe 2010?) It had a sister show, too. Prime time, really hot men, dramatic plots centered around beautiful people and lots of scheming. I think they both just had the one season but they had a definite look and vibe that made them a lot of fun.
I can picture one of the hot actors but can't remember his name. He was an artist, or something?

Oh, and lowish budget, too. These were shows for women and gay men, lots of soap opera-y themes.
| by Anonymous | reply 19 | December 16, 2021 4:26 PM |
I remember watching it as a gayby (I was a 12 year old 'Melrose Place' addict) but like others said, it sucked after the first few episodes.

It's fatal flaw was casting forgetable and unimpressive models during the heigth of the supermodel era. They should've tried to coax some of the top models of the time to appear.

Yes, R13, the initial summer episodes were great and that fall, it quickly fell apart. Also, that cutie Brian Gaskill was fired. He reminded of vintage porn star Christopher Lance.
| by Anonymous | reply 22 | December 16, 2021 4:39 PM |
Yes, R21. Tyra Banks would've brought a lot to the show.
| by Anonymous | reply 23 | December 16, 2021 4:40 PM |
LMAO, R23. When I wrote my comment, I was actually thinking of Tyra Banks. Her, Elle McPherson, Milla Jovovich, Tricia Helfer, Shalom Harlow...I don't think any of THE supermodels would've appeared, but in 1994 there was a crop of top models who would have bit parts on TV and in movies.
Hell, they could've gotten Lauren Hutton or Christie Brinkley to appear as the head of a rival agency.

They don’t get out of bed for less than 10,000 $ a day. Aaron spelling was notoriously cheap.
| by Anonymous | reply 25 | December 16, 2021 7:37 PM |
LOVED this show when I was in HS. But as others have said, only the summer run.
| by Anonymous | reply 26 | December 16, 2021 8:24 PM |
The problem with models inc. seems to be a lot of women and not enough men. Perhaps it should have had top male models.
| by Anonymous | reply 27 | December 16, 2021 9:24 PM |
I liked the theme song better than Melrose or 90210.
| by Anonymous | reply 28 | December 16, 2021 10:14 PM |
R25 You can say that again!
| by Anonymous | reply 29 | December 16, 2021 11:39 PM |
R4 I was probably one of the very few who watched every episode of Malibu Road. It was stupid but I loved Brian and Michael T. They were so hot. TLF was banned from LA Law set in 1988 and this was her short lived show from 1992.
| by Anonymous | reply 30 | December 16, 2021 11:49 PM |
R18 is this the show you're thinking of?
