Why do I think that Meggy and Dump fans are similar? Because both Megs and Donnie are obvious narcissistic grifters and yet their frenetic fans will excuse everything they do and say and viciously attack people who can see that their idols have feet of clay.

Megs is a hypocrite par excellence - she has dumped her husband, her friends, her dogs and her father, the man who raised her and who gave her everything, her career, her home, her ability to speak freely, her country, blah, blah, blah, but yet her fans call her "classy" and "independent" and a feminist (one who will have to give up her kids if she leaves her husband).

What I personally find incredibly offensive is that Meggy uses desperately poor brown people as props on her cynically set up PR exercises, whoops, I meant "humanitarian missions" All two of them. And her fans lap up the bullshit.

I could go on, but all you need to do is read the many threads on Meghan to know why people dislike her.

Past that, if anyone dislikes Meghan, her fans scream "racist" If anyone likes Donnie Fatso, his enemies scream "racist."

Not excusing Dump voters who are genuine racists, but I personally know people who are not racists but who held their nose and voted for him because they were pro-life or anti-war (yes, Dump was viewed as a non-interventionist by some) or wanted change because they were desperate or got taken in by his fast talk on the economy.

So in both cases, it's really simplistic to use the word "racist" to halt discussion of these two very similar people. But it's also the pure venom that the fans of both use to attack anyone who criticizes them.

And it really bums me out when people get taken in by con artists, because the history of the world is the history of people led to their own doom by con artists. Meggy is small potatoes, but the fact that people can't see her for what she is is depressing.
