Matthias Schoenaerts
John Thompson
I did a search and it doesn't look like this hunk of Belgian has his own thread
Incredibly HOT and very very talented -- Bullhead was Brando-level work, while Far From the Madding Crowd showed he's got range
And that body, oh my god

Good actor (liked him in Far From the Madding Crowd, too) but his face looks strange to me
| by Anonymous | reply 2 | November 6, 2015 4:24 PM |
Do we know anything about his personal life? Has he been married? Girlfriends? Boyfriends? Children? Anything?
| by Anonymous | reply 3 | November 6, 2015 4:34 PM |
R3 He was dating a Belgian wannabe model/law student who barely attends classes - for almost 5 years, but they broke up in February and he's been single since then. He doesn't have children. His ex is still keeping photos of him on her Facebook profile though, it's embarassing since they are not even friends now. She only updated her relationship status two months after they broke up. I won't put her name here to don't give buzz to the famewhore, but just google "Matthias Schoenaerts + girlfriend" and you'll find out who she is.

I love him, great actor and very hot, he's also a talented graffiti artist.
Besides Bullhead and Far From the Madding Crowd, he was also great in Rust and Bone, The Drop (him and Tom Hardy together is a dream that came true!) and Suite Française. He looks delicious in A Bigger Splash.

Really!? He literally just got more hot. I bet he used to a breakdancer or something. So hot.
| by Anonymous | reply 6 | November 7, 2015 11:28 AM |
Too bad Belgium is a totally boring country
| by Anonymous | reply 8 | November 7, 2015 12:43 PM |
R8 But Matthias is hot, that's what matters.
| by Anonymous | reply 10 | November 8, 2015 1:12 AM |
Thank you OP. I find him irresistible. Very hot. Sqaw Far From the Madding Crowd just for him. Also The Drop. Need to see Bullhead.
| by Anonymous | reply 11 | November 8, 2015 1:15 AM |
R6 You're right, here's Matthias doing some breakdancing at the 5th Avenue in Manhattan.
Offsite Link| by Anonymous | reply 12 | November 9, 2015 11:25 PM |
He is a bit like Garett Hedlund, nice to look at but terribly bland and boring on screen.
| by Anonymous | reply 13 | November 10, 2015 12:53 AM |
That's the hugest penis on earth!
| by Anonymous | reply 16 | November 10, 2015 1:35 AM |
you can see his dick here
Offsite Link| by Anonymous | reply 17 | November 10, 2015 4:44 PM |
Bullhead was amazing. He was also excellent (and naked) in the Belgian horror, Left Bank.
| by Anonymous | reply 18 | November 10, 2015 5:08 PM |
it's weird that both Schoenaerts and Michiel Huisman (from A Game of Thrones) were both in that movie Black Book from a few years ago, I always get the two of them confused
Offsite Link| by Anonymous | reply 19 | November 10, 2015 5:25 PM |
Has anyone noticed how Edward Holcroft looks like Schoenaerts? they could play brothers! =O
Offsite Link| by Anonymous | reply 20 | November 12, 2015 3:35 AM |
This guy deserved to have Michael Fassbender's career, just saying. He can do a convincing American accent (despite the fact that English is his third language) and doesn't look like an old rag, unlike 'Mr. big cock and nothing else'.
| by Anonymous | reply 21 | November 12, 2015 3:48 AM |
He speaks perfect French English and I believe Dutch . He's not a pretty boy he's a man . He has a quality about him that's very compelling , He had a part In a Tom Hardy movie called The Drop and he stole every scene , he was in a movie that was called Rust and Bone that I recommend to everyone I hope he comes out in more movies here I like him way more than Fassbinder or Hardy . And I do find him super easy on the eye ,tall beautiful body .
| by Anonymous | reply 22 | November 12, 2015 4:44 AM |
He's so hot. Great actor, too.
| by Anonymous | reply 23 | November 12, 2015 5:53 AM |
His new movie just played at AFI and he's getting raves for it, some thriller with Diane Kruger
| by Anonymous | reply 24 | November 12, 2015 4:04 PM |
His skin tone is mesmerizing: golden reflexes. Flemish. A treasure of male beauty in the heart of Europe.
| by Anonymous | reply 26 | November 12, 2015 7:46 PM |
R24 It's Maryland/Disorder in US.
Offsite Link| by Anonymous | reply 27 | November 13, 2015 3:30 AM |
He's naked in A Bigger Splash and there's a full frontal as well.
Offsite Link| by Anonymous | reply 28 | January 4, 2016 6:32 AM |
R22 "He's not a pretty boy he's a man" YESSS!!!! That's why I like him so much. Nice to have some grown men on the big screen again.
| by Anonymous | reply 29 | January 4, 2016 7:12 AM |
I saw him tonight in Maddening Crowds movie on cable and goggled him, he worked with Cottiard and she said the only time she enjoyed filming a sex scene was with him!
| by Anonymous | reply 30 | January 4, 2016 7:18 AM |
R30 Cotillard is a lucky woman! Their sex scenes in Rust and Bone are very hot and you can see Matthias' dick in this movie. Matthias also has a crush on Cotillard, you can feel the sexual tension on the interviews they did together.
| by Anonymous | reply 31 | January 4, 2016 6:57 PM |
Hot as fuck & a pretty good actor, too. Definitely see Bullhead, if you haven't already.
| by Anonymous | reply 32 | January 4, 2016 7:00 PM |
Talented actor in his own language, but he should be barred from playing Brits. He was totally unbelievable as Gabriel Oak, but then the film was an awful Hardy adaptation all round.
| by Anonymous | reply 33 | January 4, 2016 7:16 PM |
R33 He was the best thing in Far from the Madding Crowd. Too bad that Brits can't stand seeing non-british actors playing british characters! this is how the rest of the world feels when we see british actors playing french/russian/german/all the nationalities of the world with an annoying british accent.
| by Anonymous | reply 34 | January 4, 2016 7:37 PM |
He's also amazing and gorgeous in The Danish Girl. That skin!!! That's only the first time I've seen him so I now have a lot of catching up to do.
| by Anonymous | reply 35 | January 4, 2016 7:42 PM |
R35 You should watch Bullhead and Rust and Bone!
| by Anonymous | reply 36 | January 4, 2016 7:45 PM |
I usually like MS, but he was a sullen blank space in A Little Chaos. Let's blame his wig.
| by Anonymous | reply 37 | January 4, 2016 7:48 PM |
And why is it Far From the Madding Crowd? Shouldnt it be Maddening?! It's always annoyed the shit outta me. It's maddening!
| by Anonymous | reply 38 | January 4, 2016 7:52 PM |
Watch the original instead. Alan Bates > Matthias Schoenaerts
| by Anonymous | reply 39 | January 5, 2016 12:43 AM |
R38 The book was written centuries ago, they used "madding" back then.
| by Anonymous | reply 40 | January 5, 2016 2:30 AM |
That voice is everything!
Offsite Link| by Anonymous | reply 41 | January 5, 2016 5:14 AM |
He chose Tom Hardy over Thomas Hardy? What an idiot.
| by Anonymous | reply 43 | January 5, 2016 11:43 AM |
R43 Tom Hardy is his friend, they starred together in The Drop. Who would you choose? a close friend of yours or a dead guy that you've never met?
| by Anonymous | reply 44 | January 5, 2016 7:52 PM |
The new trailer for A Bigger Splash is out and there's a bromance/gay vibe between Matthias' and Ralph Fiennes' character at 01:07

This photo of Matthias and Ralph Fiennes is... interesting:

| by Anonymous | reply 48 | January 7, 2016 8:18 AM |
Thanks for the intro, OP! Looks like I've got some serious catching up to to do. Never seen any of his films. Bigger Splash looks intriguing.

[quote]He's not a pretty boy he's a man.
This.
| by Anonymous | reply 50 | January 7, 2016 12:38 PM |
His character was the best thing in that awful film The Danish Girl. Too bad that Tom Hooper reduced his storyline to focus on those two actors with no chemistry. In the original script, Matthias' character had more screentime.
| by Anonymous | reply 52 | January 15, 2016 5:56 AM |
I hope Nolan cast him for his film Dunkirk!, he needs to cast someone who can speak French and will be awesome to see Matthias and Tom Hardy together again after The Drop.

He was very good in Madding Crowd, if only they'd cast a more interesting actress than sniveling Mulligan in the lead. Was his dialogue dubbed? If not that was the best performance in English by a non native speaker since Kinski in Tess.
| by Anonymous | reply 63 | February 10, 2016 7:33 AM |
[quote]Was his dialogue dubbed? If not that was the best performance in English by a non native speaker since Kinski in Tess.
It wasn't dubbed, that was Matthias' voice. His english is really amazing and it's his third language. I agree about Mulligan, she wasn't convincing in her role, it's hard to believe that all those guys would be crazy for her, but to be fair, she had a great chemistry with Matthias.
| by Anonymous | reply 64 | February 17, 2016 5:39 AM |
He looks like he drinks 4% milk, OP.
| by Anonymous | reply 65 | February 17, 2016 5:42 AM |
He was in The Loft with a bunch of other hot guys like Karl Urban and James Marsden and Wentworth Miller and they were all terrible in it.
| by Anonymous | reply 66 | February 17, 2016 5:51 AM |
He was in the original Belgian version of The Loft too, playing the exact same character
| by Anonymous | reply 67 | February 17, 2016 2:42 PM |
R67 And the Belgian version is much better!
| by Anonymous | reply 68 | February 18, 2016 4:05 AM |
Love Matthias. He really does deserve to truly break out and get really good roles. Preferably roles that require nudity...you know, tasteful and organic to the plot and what have you, of course.
| by Anonymous | reply 69 | February 18, 2016 4:30 AM |
Just say no to anything Belgian as long as that damn country still touts that mass murderer Leopold II as Builder King.
| by Anonymous | reply 70 | February 18, 2016 5:42 AM |
R70 And what the fuck Matthias has to do with this?

R82 Before someone complains about the suit and the fact that he wasn't wearing a helmet, he was doing a photoshoot in Bruges.
| by Anonymous | reply 83 | April 4, 2016 5:47 AM |
So, is he dating anyone right now...
| by Anonymous | reply 84 | April 27, 2016 5:38 PM |
R84 Not officially, but recently he told to a Belgian magazine that "there's a woman who touches his heart at the moment", but he didn't give any details.
| by Anonymous | reply 85 | April 29, 2016 5:20 PM |
hey look he's naked again
Offsite Link| by Anonymous | reply 86 | May 24, 2016 3:59 PM |
Matthias shows a lot of ass and there's one cock shot in A BIGGER SPLASH. Ralph Fiennes has at least half a dozen cock shots, and dies naked. (On the distaff side: Dakota Johnson is full frontal in long shot, and the opening scene has Tilda naked, taint up).
| by Anonymous | reply 87 | May 24, 2016 4:04 PM |
there are two cock shots of Matthias (well one and a half anyway) -- you can see them both at the link at r86
| by Anonymous | reply 88 | May 24, 2016 4:07 PM |
Ralph Fiennes looks circumcised in the photos in R86.
| by Anonymous | reply 89 | May 24, 2016 5:22 PM |
I think he is one of the hottest guys out there but sadly he has a flat ass :(
| by Anonymous | reply 90 | May 24, 2016 5:47 PM |
I wouldn't know a flat ass from a fat ass.
| by Anonymous | reply 91 | May 24, 2016 6:00 PM |
He outfasses Fassbinder, R92.
| by Anonymous | reply 93 | May 31, 2016 8:16 PM |
Oh R69, I would prefer the nudity to tasteless and really, really raunchy.
And you know you would as well.
| by Anonymous | reply 94 | May 31, 2016 8:18 PM |
R90 His ass looked pretty fine in A Bigger Splash. Also in Left Bank, Bullhead and Rust and Bone, he was bigger back then though.
| by Anonymous | reply 95 | June 3, 2016 12:18 AM |
Lucky Tilda Swinton! That tongue!

I'd never seen any of his movies, but had seen pictures and didn't "get it" about him...until I finally saw "The Danish Girl" this weekend, and wow, what a presence! He was so hot, and a great actor. I'm going to have to check out some of his other films!
| by Anonymous | reply 97 | June 3, 2016 1:13 AM |
Full frontal in A Bigger Splash.
Face like a ferret.
| by Anonymous | reply 98 | June 3, 2016 2:16 AM |
Not only did he do full frontal in Rust and Bone, but he pulled at it too.
