Apologize to Ariana, immediately!

The rap was comically awful
| by Anonymous | reply 1 | February 21, 2023 12:45 AM |
I agree with what people are saying, that she should own it and run with it. Was it bad? Yea. People would probably love her if she ran with it and laughed about it with everyone else instead of taking it so personally and serious.
| by Anonymous | reply 2 | February 21, 2023 12:47 AM |
I hope she has the decency to be embarrassed. It was awful.
| by Anonymous | reply 4 | February 21, 2023 12:49 AM |
Michelle Yeoh would've given it some heart.
| by Anonymous | reply 5 | February 21, 2023 12:55 AM |
Barry Keoghan was falling out of his seat laughing at how bad it was
| by Anonymous | reply 6 | February 21, 2023 12:59 AM |
If Leslie Uggams could survive her June is Bustin out All Over fiasco, then Ariana DeBose will be just fine.
| by Anonymous | reply 7 | February 21, 2023 1:29 AM |
You haters are pissing her fans off!

I know a boat she can get on.
| by Anonymous | reply 10 | February 21, 2023 2:02 AM |
It was a powerful moment that lifted women up. A moment that provided a safe space for Woman Kings and Angela Bassett to do her things.
Thank you, Ariana.
Don't let the bullies get you down.
Now it's time to do YOUR thing.
| by Anonymous | reply 11 | February 21, 2023 2:06 AM |
This just in-Ariana will headline the opening number at this year’s Academy Awards in a “multiverse medley” where we’ll see simultaneous images of Ariana as Judd Hirsch’s character in The Fabelmans, Michellle Yeoh’s character in Everything Everywhere All at Once and Felix Kammerer’s character in All Quiet on the Western Front.
| by Anonymous | reply 13 | February 21, 2023 2:17 AM |
Was this Ariana's Rob Lowe moment?
| by Anonymous | reply 14 | February 21, 2023 2:28 AM |
Her performance reminded me of the Sweeney Sisters at the Emmys, except there's was a parody and Ariana's was serious.

Oh DEAR!

Dame Emma Thompson's smile looked so natural and unforced.
| by Anonymous | reply 18 | February 21, 2023 6:24 AM |
I tried watching. Made it through half of the first rapped line and immediately stopped the video out of embarrassment. Poor girl.
| by Anonymous | reply 19 | February 21, 2023 6:37 AM |
Thank You, R12. This is my time hearing this performer sing. She may very well be a talented lady, but I couldn't tell from what I heard.
The bulk of her problem is that she's bogged down by a HORRID musical arrangement. Even before that humiliating "rap" began! And not only that but it seems as no one even bothered to make sure the music was in the proper key. They were too busy trying to present a FIERCE production number with no thought given to the music. Was there no rehearsal time?
I have no idea what Miss Debose's area of vocal expertise is, but this just goes to show that every singer can't sing everything.
| by Anonymous | reply 20 | February 21, 2023 6:52 AM |
Dolly De Leon's face kills me each time I watch this. It's like her face is saying, "Bitch, why are you dragging me into this hot mess?"
| by Anonymous | reply 21 | February 21, 2023 6:52 AM |
I was expecting much worse, this wasn’t bad at all. Then again I liked the Miley Cyrus-Robin Thicke twerk-gate performance.
| by Anonymous | reply 22 | February 21, 2023 6:54 AM |
I'd be interested to know who the Musical Director was for the award ceremony?
If it was that damn Ricky Minor, this would all make sense. He's Hollywood's first call/go-to for these sort of functions and has been subjecting us to bland, milquetoast, unimaginative and corny arrangements for at least 30 years now. I'll be glad be when that fucker retires for good!
| by Anonymous | reply 23 | February 21, 2023 7:02 AM |
Bless her heart, I agree she should embrace it. Whoever wrote it with such little care on the other hand .
| by Anonymous | reply 25 | February 21, 2023 7:11 AM |
"The song goes, and the kid with it!"
| by Anonymous | reply 26 | February 21, 2023 11:15 AM |
The definition of “affected”. Was it a fake English accent on top of the terrible lyrics?
| by Anonymous | reply 28 | February 21, 2023 2:27 PM |
She’s a horrible singer, unpleasant tone and off-key. Who made this person famous?
| by Anonymous | reply 29 | February 21, 2023 2:55 PM |
Oh, dear. She started out well.
Did they rehearse it? Because if they did, someone should have let her stand still and not wind up so winded. She really did not have good breath control. Made me wonder if she’s a smoker.
| by Anonymous | reply 30 | February 21, 2023 2:57 PM |
The only Ariana I know of is Grande. I never heard of this one.

Yes, she had to deactivate her Twitter following an embarrassing performance at the BAFTAs, but she the the FIRST AFRO LATINA WOMAN to deactivate her Twitter following an embarrassing performance at the BAFTAs. THIS IS HISTORIC, PEOPLE!
| by Anonymous | reply 34 | February 21, 2023 3:01 PM |
She’s one of those who think that screaming is singing.
| by Anonymous | reply 35 | February 21, 2023 3:01 PM |
Sorry, she's a QUEER AFRO LATINX WOMAN!
| by Anonymous | reply 37 | February 21, 2023 3:02 PM |
The problem with original songs at events like this is nobody's certain they like what they're hearing. It's a big gamble. That's why medleys work. It was a risky idea and it bombed, as they usually do.
| by Anonymous | reply 38 | February 21, 2023 3:03 PM |
I thought shey was non-gendery?
| by Anonymous | reply 39 | February 21, 2023 3:04 PM |
She's a mediocre talent at best. She can't make bad material good and she can't make good material bad.
| by Anonymous | reply 43 | February 21, 2023 3:29 PM |
Good. Hopefully this is the last we'll see of her.

| by Anonymous | reply 46 | February 21, 2023 3:39 PM |
R46 trick question. There is no good rap.
| by Anonymous | reply 47 | February 21, 2023 3:48 PM |
How the fuck does this bitch have an Oscar??
| by Anonymous | reply 48 | February 21, 2023 3:50 PM |
I liked her in Schmigadoon.
| by Anonymous | reply 49 | February 21, 2023 3:51 PM |
Her "talent" is perfect for that mediocre-fest.
| by Anonymous | reply 50 | February 21, 2023 3:58 PM |
There is good rap.
R44 we won’t. She will be around for the rest of awards season.
| by Anonymous | reply 51 | February 21, 2023 6:22 PM |
R48: She's an Afro Latina dyke.
| by Anonymous | reply 52 | February 21, 2023 6:27 PM |
Anjullah Bass-et did the thing. Yes, yes she did.
| by Anonymous | reply 53 | February 22, 2023 1:31 AM |
She should be embarrassed and deactivating her social media over her checking off every box she can: Non Binary ✔️ LatinX✔️ Queer✔️ Rapper✔️ Overly annunciations every move and word✔️
| by Anonymous | reply 54 | February 22, 2023 3:20 AM |
I finally watched the whole thing. She started off OK and the wardrobe visual effect was good but that rap…oh dear. She was obviously out of breath and the lyrics were ghastly. Really, REALLY bad.
| by Anonymous | reply 55 | February 22, 2023 3:24 AM |
Is this some mentally disabled girl who got invited because of her “bravery”?
| by Anonymous | reply 57 | February 22, 2023 3:39 AM |

But is it worse that Ann "Against All Odds" Reinking?
| by Anonymous | reply 59 | February 22, 2023 3:42 AM |
Is she pregnant ? It looked like it .Nobody told her about Spanx ? Truly awful singing. She should be humiliated.
| by Anonymous | reply 61 | February 22, 2023 3:49 AM |
DeBose is awesome. So versatile. Here’s my favorite performance of hers.
Offsite Link| by Anonymous | reply 62 | February 22, 2023 4:18 AM |
That’s why she’s a star.
| by Anonymous | reply 65 | February 22, 2023 4:21 AM |
I love the reactions. Ana De Armas looks like she's thinking "please shut this bitch up," Danielle Deadwyler had a look like she was thinking "don't you dare bring my name into this mess," and Jamie Lee Curtis definitely deserves that Academy Award for her performance there, acting like it was anything but embarrassing.
I felt like she was trying to imitate Madonna's rap in Vogue but it was more like 2023 Madonna trying to be cool and failing miserably, not Madonna back when she actually was.
| by Anonymous | reply 66 | February 22, 2023 4:21 AM |
Whatever that is at R62 , it's horrible. Are all her performances this cringe?
| by Anonymous | reply 67 | February 22, 2023 4:41 AM |
She's awful. And she was especially terrible in The Prom.
| by Anonymous | reply 68 | February 22, 2023 4:42 AM |
I had never heard of They/Them/It before this latest dust-up. And I'm less & less impressed with each "performance" I view. I guess I just don't like it's "singing". And the fact that this idiot labels itself "non-binary", "Latin X", "Queer", etc, makes them even less appealing. For all of its screeching & theatrics, it's voice is shaky, soulless and doesn't project much of anything.
Just listen to this nutjob tackle the familiar old favorite ', Midnight Train To Georgia'. I didn't think anyone could screw it up......Boy, was I wrong!!! Gladys Knight's face said it all

I meant 'I Heard It Through The Grapevine' at R69!
| by Anonymous | reply 70 | February 22, 2023 4:56 AM |
I guess we’ll be seeing her on the next season of American Horror Story now.
| by Anonymous | reply 71 | February 22, 2023 5:19 AM |
I hope this doesn't garner sympathy for that completely average performance and assure Bassett of an undeserved Oscar.
| by Anonymous | reply 73 | February 22, 2023 9:21 PM |
Angela Bassett asked (begged?) Ryan Coogler not to do what he did to her character in Black Panther Wakanda Forever, but he did it anyway. Then she had to do the thing.
| by Anonymous | reply 74 | February 23, 2023 6:10 PM |
That's AnGela Bassett (hard G), you bitches.
| by Anonymous | reply 75 | February 23, 2023 6:28 PM |

She was on a UK radio station claiming that Gay Twitter liked her number. Uh huh.
| by Anonymous | reply 77 | February 25, 2023 4:38 PM |
Angela Bassett is winning the Oscar regardless. She got the Globe, the Critics Choice, and tomorrow we will see if she gets the SAG (she most likely will). No one expected her to win BAFTA. Her loss wasn’t a shock there. She got nominated, which is a positive. BAFTA doesn’t acknowledge roles that get a lot of love here in the states all the time. Denzel has never received a BAFTA nomination, for instance.

R77 they do. They’re calling it “camp”
| by Anonymous | reply 79 | February 25, 2023 4:44 PM |
Yes, many gays all over TikTok are calling it camp and loving it.

How does one watch the SAGs this year? I looked it up and it’s streaming on the Netflix YouTube channel. Just what in the holy fuck is that??!?
| by Anonymous | reply 81 | February 25, 2023 11:50 PM |
I don't know r81. I sure hope they don't start with that tired, endlessly cloying "I'm an actor!" opening.
| by Anonymous | reply 82 | February 26, 2023 7:10 AM |
Angela won the NAACP award and said 'I guess Angela Bassett did the thing'. This is slowly going to be amazing.
| by Anonymous | reply 83 | February 26, 2023 8:16 PM |
Leave it to Angela Bassett to equate an NAACP award to something that matters.
| by Anonymous | reply 84 | February 26, 2023 8:39 PM |
I don’t think she cares. She’s having fun r84. She has like 14 of them.

| by Anonymous | reply 87 | February 26, 2023 10:15 PM |
