Robert Guerrero
I just saw this image with no context. Was this a thing?

Those were main stream during a certain time frame.

That's gotta be the Liartown guy. Sadly he shut down his Tumblr after the porn ban, because some of his photoshops are quite saucy.

Is this the lesbian equivalent of caftan, ...earrings? Or would that be the vagina cape?
I do realize how important it is to keep up.

His archive is still up. I bought the Apple Cabin calendar, which is hilarious.

It’s the work of a very funny artist.

Thank you r6. It was just a random thing I was sent with nothing else, just lesbians in shawls. It made me laugh at first then start to doubt if it was a pastiche because I had a math teacher who dressed exactly like this, was a lez and was fond of talking about knitting.

But a pastiche of what, r7?

OP its a knitted poncho. The have gone in and out of style, like most anything. Everyone was wearing them several years back. Martha Stewart was photographed in one; after she was released from prison . Which made them even more popular.

Not exclusive to the ladies OP

Martha Stewart's poncho was knitted for her by a fellow inmate.

OP, my sisters (in the early 70s) each knitted themselves shawls like that.
I, the only lesbian of the three of us, would never have been caught dead in one.

Of course you wouldn’t be caught dead in one. Shawls are for the living.

Those are ponchos, not shawls. Get with it!

I've had a very strange day today already. First I learned that there is such as thing as "funeral potatoes" and now I learn there is such a thing as a "funeral shawl". Weird! I really should go back to bed.

They're coming back, and they're actually quite flattering and comfy.

God if only Michfest was still happening!
Can you imagine how well some entrepreneurial dyke could do with this? Fabulous!

I swear I remember Jamie Somers wore one in an episode or two of The Bionic Woman. Would that make her The Lesbionic Woman?
| by Anonymous | reply 20 | May 31, 2019 11:58 AM |
R20 she still wears them!

Those smirks. How did they kill him?
| by Anonymous | reply 22 | May 31, 2019 12:41 PM |
Yeah my Mom and aunts all knitted and wore them - all earth tones..... I'm thinking......1972

Apparently ponchos are still around in 2019.
It's even possible that some thin women have worn them in the last decade, but I doubt it.
