Komondor Dog
Ava Lawson
They are so adorable, but must be such a nightmare to care for.
The matting, the washing, the cleaning...ugh!
Do you have one, or know of anyone who has a Komondor? I'd love to hear any experiences with them.

They are prone to having problems with their hips; also, not the brightest breed out there.

These are aggressive herding dogs and not meant to be cuddly pets. They were popular out west for protecting sheep herds in isolated areas.
The Puli is a "mini" version.

Why can’t I give this hairdo to my Maltipoo?
| by Anonymous | reply 6 | July 27, 2018 11:32 PM |
What's with the hair?
Are the owners supposed to let the hair grow into dreadlocks, or should they be constantly shaved?
I don't see why anyone would want to deal with all that matted hair.
But they sure are cute. :o)

You just know that these doggies have poop hanging from their back sides.
If you can even find their back sides.

A Sham-Bow-Wow. Seriously though. Why would anyone want a dog with dread locks? Can you imagine all the critters living in that living mop?
| by Anonymous | reply 10 | July 27, 2018 11:58 PM |
Seems like the matting would be constantly pulling on their skin and that can't be comfortable. Why would you breed a herding dog that looked like that and possibly overheats? For warmth? Because it looks like a sheep and so freaks out the herd less?
I'd just shave it out of pity. But of course, shaving it doesn't get you those looks on the street which their owners crave so much, I'm sure.

I love all dogs - they're GREAT! I'm extremely partial to the Molosser dog group, though. Having raised four separate Boxers from puppyhood to death, I think I'm ready for a change. Thinking about getting a Cane Corso next time - an ancient breed, and what the Romans were marching with as the conquered much of Europe.

They are guilty of cultural appropriation.

Mark Zuckerberg has one. The "walking mop" aspect is cute, but that hair just seems like a nightmare to keep clean/deal with in general. No thanks, I'll stick to my miniature shorthaired dachshund.

Give me a short haired mutt any day.

Wow, that's quite a drastic difference at R11.
| by Anonymous | reply 16 | July 28, 2018 2:13 AM |
R12 It’s GREAT that you love dogs, especially Cane Corsos. You could conquer the EU and kill a few lesbians as a plus.

"Mark Zuckerberg has one." Who the fuck cares what that asshole has? Don't contribute to gossip about that lowlife fuck. The less said about him the better.

It's cruel to the animal to do this to them. People need to stop breeding freak dogs to amuse themselves. How would you like to have to live with that weight all over your body and not be able to scratch or run freely?
| by Anonymous | reply 20 | July 28, 2018 12:14 PM |
I had a Puli growing up, the smartest dog I ever encountered.
| by Anonymous | reply 21 | July 28, 2018 12:24 PM |
A work colleague of mine has them. They're her "family's dog breed." (She's the only person I know with a family dog breed; we just took in mutts and strays.)

R20 I’m sorry God didn’t make you a dog. Something makes me think you have a lot of weight on your body and don’t run much, much less freely. Dogs can scratch through anything. A Puli is not a freak, you freakazoid!!! It’s an old breed... oh never mind...why am I fucking bothering?
| by Anonymous | reply 24 | July 31, 2018 7:39 AM |
That poor dog. It's cruelty. Agree with R20 that we need to stop breeding freak dogs to amuse ourselves..
On another note; that's quite a descriptive red tag R23 has...

For the love of Pete! “Animal cruelty”?! Jeez! Open a book, people!
This breed wasn’t bred because some people wanted a special, attention getting dog! It’s been around and looking the same in Hungary since the mid 1500’s and descends from dogs that came to Hungary from the East much earlier. The dog developed its unusual coat as a defense against wolves as they couldn’t penetrate the thick coat.
Apparently they’re very good family pets, are fiercely loyal and protective so much so that thousands were killed by the Nazis, then the Russians, unbelievably don’t require extensive grooming with their coats, and they take over 2 days to completely dry once bathed. Still one of the most popular dogs in Hungary and named a National Treasure making it illegal to change the breed, cross breed it, etc..

Thanks R26. You’re a gem! I was too tired to go through the beautiful Pulis’ history. I must make little locks like this for my Maltipoo. If you know any tricks....

Zuckerberg actually has a puli, not a Komondor.

I wonder if they were ever in the wild like this. Or bred by humans to look like this.

Probably.
Without humans to groom them, most long haired dogs would look crazy (and quite different).

A Puli is a brave and noble dog.
