Kevin Kline Defends Kevin Hart
John Thompson
Kevin Decline might become Kevin Not Offered after saying this.

That will only help Hart! r1
| by Anonymous | reply 2 | December 7, 2018 6:14 PM |
As long as a straight white man wasn't offended, everything is okay.
| by Anonymous | reply 3 | December 7, 2018 6:16 PM |
R3 has it.
But it's a "white straight man who played gay," which makes Kline's feelings even more definitive.

No gay or bi rumors ever about Kevin Kline? I heard some years ago, though he was with Patti LuPone at Juilliard.
| by Anonymous | reply 6 | December 7, 2018 6:19 PM |
African Akevinans always stick up for each other, so no surprise here.
| by Anonymous | reply 7 | December 7, 2018 6:25 PM |
So, black and Asian jokes are ok now, too?
| by Anonymous | reply 8 | December 7, 2018 6:47 PM |
R8 whendid they ever stop. Look at R7 making another racist comment in see it nonstop on here and you all just ignore it, like you just did.
| by Anonymous | reply 9 | December 7, 2018 7:00 PM |
What the Twitterati don't get is that Kevin Kline and all the rest have probably witnessed every kind of abuse under the sun over the course of their careers.
| by Anonymous | reply 10 | December 7, 2018 7:41 PM |
Are those supposed to be jokes? They're just a guy saying "fag" and saying he'll hurt his son if he does anything "gay." Where is the supposed humor? I'm not in favor of censorship, but if you're going to tell jokes that might be considered offensive, maybe at least try to be clever or funny.
| by Anonymous | reply 11 | December 7, 2018 7:50 PM |
I mentioned that exact same point in the other thread on the other Kevin. Those tweets weren't jokes they were just comments meant to belittle and degrade gay men.
| by Anonymous | reply 12 | December 7, 2018 7:54 PM |
Kevin Kline does not understand. You can't pick and choose. You either defend the marginalized or step aside. Kline might have well have shouted the n-word from his vile irony tower.
| by Anonymous | reply 13 | December 7, 2018 7:54 PM |
He apologized several times is the defense r11. But I do worry how this will impact GLBT .. The perception will be we are unforgiving and ruthless . This will only help Hart .
| by Anonymous | reply 14 | December 7, 2018 7:56 PM |
Yeah right around the time straight people stop threatening to beat us to death as children is when I will start to give a shit if they think me untoward, r14

[quote] This will only help Hart in the eyes oh homophobes
Fixed for you.

We're just not a group that triggers (I hate that word) the PC of Hollywood anymore unless you're Trans, of course.
If a white comedian was making "jokes" about his fears of his son marrying a black woman and saying he'd turn to physical violence in order to keep him from marrying a black woman the Twittersphere would have exploded and every celebrity in Hollywood (JPS) would be demanding the comedian's head on a platter.

The Chicago Lez is at it again defending Keven Hart in a racist, homophobic manner. Do yourself and the rest of us a favor by flushing yourself down the crapper.

Actually, all minorities have a tendency to stick up for one another, at least publicly. Including gay men. So R7 wasn't a joke, but reality about all minorities. Most Asians hate the Japanese, black women don't want to drag black men down about the rap lyrics, liberal Jews don't like Hassidics, Puerto Ricans and Cubans look down on Mexicans. Minorities like to put up a united front for the public. For political and social reasons. That is just the way it is.

r21 is typical SJW deflection when it suits HER cause.

"No gay or bi rumors ever about Kevin Kline? "
Moderate number of bi rumors.

Who's Kevin Kline? Some white haired old man that had a half assed career in Hollywood years ago.
| by Anonymous | reply 24 | December 8, 2018 12:26 AM |
R20 Here's lookin' at ya, Kevin!
| by Anonymous | reply 25 | December 8, 2018 12:29 AM |
He's a typical Baby Boomer who minimizes homophobia because he grew up in an era when homosexuality was illegal.
| by Anonymous | reply 28 | December 9, 2018 3:07 AM |
Didn't he force his wife to end her acting career? He's always come across as a chauvinist homophobe.
| by Anonymous | reply 29 | December 9, 2018 4:30 AM |
Hart’s an asshole. So glad he ended up not hosting.
| by Anonymous | reply 30 | December 9, 2018 4:31 AM |
If Hart is truly an oppressed minority, he would be more sensitive to the feelings of other minorities like homosexuals.
Director, Ang Lee, said that he could relate to the oppression of homosexuals because he's an outsider himself.
It could be that blacks have more testosterone which makes them more resilient and tough but also less sensitive.

Hart is not funny
Kline has not been relevant for decades

Kline does voice work on "Bob's Burgers." Kind of a popular animated show.

R33 His parents must be so proud, a guest voice on a Fox animated show, what a coup

R6 Are you nuts? He was married to arguably the most gorgeous actress of the 80s.

People forget that Kevin Kline got a fair bit of backlash for his role in A Fish Called Wanda -- a lot of people felt was over-the-top nasty to stutterers as well as being homophobic. It didn't cause as huge of a deal as it would nowadays, because people understood that Otto in the movie was supposed to be a complete asshole. Still, I'd bet anything he still stinging from that, and when he sees somebody get raked over the coals for an off-color joke, he feels it personally.
| by Anonymous | reply 36 | December 10, 2018 2:35 PM |
I wouldn't call his role in "A Fish Called Wanda" homophobic. He pretended to be gay and attracted to the Michael Palin character to conceal the fact that Wanda was his lover not his sister. He didn't start acting stereotypically gay like John Ritter on "Three's Company", he played it the same way. The Michael Palin character's response wasn't really homophobic just the typical response to unwanted advances.

Just another day in hypocritical, bigoted America.
| by Anonymous | reply 38 | December 10, 2018 2:47 PM |
It doesn't matter whether you think it's homophobic or not. The point is, he received criticism from some people who felt it was homophobic, not to mention even more criticism for the whole stuttering thing in the movie.

calling someone a "fag" is just as bad as "N..."
| by Anonymous | reply 40 | December 10, 2018 4:41 PM |
This makes me angry. I used to really like Kevin Kline. But for him to justify those slurs -not jokes! - yuck. I feel totally different about him now. Asshat.
