In early November 2022, Justin Haden of Austin, TX went missing. Police investigating his apartment initially found what they determined were “a lot of red wine stains,” but days later on another investigation discovered was blood.

They soon uncovered surveillance footage of he an an unknown man coming and going from his apartment in late October. They seemed like friends or roommates. Halloween night there was footage of them leaving Haden’s apartment in costumes, and returning very late that night.

Later footage on November 1st showed the unknown man coming and going from Haden’s apartment alone with tools and supplies, sometimes carrying large objects in bags or boxes. He often obscured his face with masks. There is also footage of him driving Haden’s car.

A month later Haden’s disposed body was found in Austin, far away from the apartment.

The suspected killer (Gavin Roberts) was arrested a week later in Colorado. He initially denied the murder. On December 14th, he finally confessed to the whole thing.

A gay lovers quarrel? Don’t seem that way. Or does it? It was later determined they were working together at the time and seem to know each other that way.

Both have strange pasts. Haden has a child molestation charge from year earlier. Roberts was in a homemade horror movie a few years ago playing a serial killer, and has an IMDb listing.

Both are quite handsome!

Wow. Deep Reddit dive on this one. This is a full-blown Dexter style killing. The murderer seems like a rough trade type with charming good looks who was bad news. He knew he was toast and it was just a matter of time. I wonder what else he’s gotten away with? Seems like a huge ego.

The victim had troubles with alcoholism and a sex offender charge. He also had rich parents who bought him an apartment in a sketchy area of Austin. Seems (sadly) like an easy mark.

I wonder what really caused the murder? Gay panic? Now that he’s confessed I wonder what more we’ll learn.

The family had to hire a private investigator, who immediately identified it as blood.
