Julianne Moore

Writer James Williams

Where does the “Seriously” come from?

Robbed of the Oscar for Boogie Nights, IMHO.

by Anonymousreply 37May 4, 2020 7:08 PM

WTF are you talking about?

by Anonymousreply 1May 3, 2020 11:01 PM

She should have at least 4 awards by now. Boogie Nights. Magnolia. The End of the Affair. Still Alice.

by Anonymousreply 2May 3, 2020 11:02 PM

She demanded to be in the middle for the "Hours" movie poster

by Anonymousreply 3May 3, 2020 11:04 PM

Julianne Moore is a terrific actress, she's a completely different character in each movie I've seen her in. I especially enjoyed her in A SINGLE MAN, STILL ALICE, BOOGIE NIGHTS and THE HOURS.

In fact, when I saw her in GAME CHANGE, Julianne Moore's performance lead me to feel empathetic towards the underqualified, in-over-her head vice presidential nominee, Sarah Palin.

by Anonymousreply 4May 3, 2020 11:10 PM

Absolutely loved her in Boogie Nights.

"Come on my tits, honey. Just come on my tits and my tummy."

by Anonymousreply 5May 3, 2020 11:17 PM

I predict you will die in a grease fire, n00bs & trolls!

by Anonymousreply 6May 3, 2020 11:38 PM

Her greatest performance was Far from Heaven. She should have won for it.

by Anonymousreply 7May 3, 2020 11:51 PM

“The Hours” poster was weird. How come Julianna isn’t directly in the middle? Why is there such a big space between her and M?

Besides what's been mentioned, I also liked her in Safe, Maps to the Stars, Blindness, and Cookie's Fortune, and she nearly stole the show in The Hand That Rocks the Cradle.

by Anonymousreply 9May 3, 2020 11:58 PM

I watched ‘Gloria Bell’ last night and kept thinking she looked like someone who has unpleasantly strong body odors. Seriously. Watch it and you’ll think the same thing.

by Anonymousreply 10May 3, 2020 11:58 PM

She is very good. I remember first noticing her in The Hand thst Rocks thr Craddle (horrible death) and Short Cuts. I think her choices became less adventurous as time went, but can’t blame her.

by Anonymousreply 11May 4, 2020 12:00 AM

One of her greatest performances was in "Safe", as a woman who suddenly becomes allergic to well, just about every thing. It's one of her best films.

by Anonymousreply 14May 4, 2020 12:51 AM

true, I forgot about that one, R7. make that 5!!!! Academy Awards.

by Anonymousreply 16May 4, 2020 1:57 AM

Such good acting in this scene. Strained composure cracking into pieces.

R17 that scene is legendary.

by Anonymousreply 18May 4, 2020 2:39 AM

OP here. Why do people say: “Julianne Moore, Seriously”when referencing her. That’s what I was asking.

That’s WTF, R1 you nasty cunt.

by Anonymousreply 19May 4, 2020 3:45 PM

For me, the "shame on you" scene from Magnolia is what puts her exceptional performance ahead of the (also fantastic) performance in "Boogie Nights."

by Anonymousreply 20May 4, 2020 3:51 PM

Yeah, OP, I don’t get that, either. Wasn’t around when it happened/ began.

by Anonymousreply 21May 4, 2020 4:30 PM

[post redacted because linking to dailymail.co.uk clearly indicates that the poster is either a troll or an idiot (probably both, honestly.) Our advice is that you just ignore this poster but whatever you do, don't click on any link to this putrid rag.]

I hated her movie where the lesbian couple became heterosexuals.

DESERVED! She's the best part of the film! Julianne Moore and the 50s!

OP, I believe it was the above mentioned The Hours poster that created a comment where someone was puzzled about Julianne Moore being in the prestigious middle position and not one of the bigger name actresses.

Julianne Moore, seriously?

Moore's better than both Streep and Kidman. The only other better actress in the film was maybe Toni! What a performance, and in like two scenes! These two should have done that lesbian movie together.

[quote] She first put this kitchen on the lower level, but years later did another renovation and moved the kitchen upstairs.

Seriously?

Sounds expensive.

by Anonymousreply 28May 4, 2020 4:57 PM

I was around during that "seriously", thing.

I recall that we were all discussing underrated actresses, back in 2006 or something. Someone's post said "Julianne Moore, Seriously."

I think the way that it was written caused it to become a DL Meme, because we were very soon using that to respond to every thread. That was how DL was back then, random collaborative silliness.

Thread Title: "Which Porn Star Do You Most Want to Sleep With?", "Which Politician Has the Biggest Cock?", "Who Do You Think Will Win American Idol?"

R1: Julianne Moore, Seriously.

Fast forward a few years, one particular DLer actually met Julianne Moore, and told her all about this weird little Internet meme, and she thought it was hilarious.

I wonder how he explained what this hellhole is.

by Anonymousreply 30May 4, 2020 4:59 PM

Uhhhhh, Julianne knows EXACTLY how she's perceived by the gays, as can be seen below:

The only thing I didn't like her in was Carrie. She didn't seem very dangerous as Carrie's crazy mom. She definitely seemed nuts, but there wasn't that danger Piper Laurie had.

by Anonymousreply 34May 4, 2020 5:58 PM

Poor Julianne having to endure some screaming Eldergay trying to explain a DL meme to her.

She's suffered more than we'll ever understand.

by Anonymousreply 35May 4, 2020 6:00 PM

J couldn't do accent shit, like I always do masterfully, if her life were to depend on it.

by Anonymousreply 36May 4, 2020 6:56 PM

M, your accents are JUST as campy as J's. The only difference is that J [italic]knows[/italic] she's campy, and makes it work. See A Single Man.
