Was uber-gay columnist and big ol' bottom Josh Barro always a conservative tool of a columnist? His tweets are basically reiterations of what Glenn Greenwald and Drew Holden regularly tweet.

Josh, along with Matt Taibi and Maria Bartiromo and a few others have become so conservative lately. Is it because they really weren't favored by mainstream media companies anymore? Anyone here know him? What's his deal?

He left the Republican party and registered as a Democrat in 2016, so he's a bit more conservative about finances but he is socially liberal. But even as a Republican he bristled at being called a conservative.

He charges $6/month. Even with only 2,000 subscribers (which isn't a lot), that's $12k a month. I'm sure Substack takes a cut, but even if it's half, that's still $6k a month. He can still do speeches, write books and appear on TV. Add that to the husband's income and you have a nice, upper-middle class lifestyle.
