Joni Mitchell & James Taylor
John Thompson
This pic hurts my heart. Getting old can be cruel.

Taylor looks ok, but Joni shows why we shouldn't smoke. But yes, it's a poignant photo.

They look fine to me. Don't know what they collaborated on, though.

Getting old and chainsmoking every day of your life.

Joni just looks tired; James looks good. Like Ms Davis said: "Growing old isn't for sissies." Joni's gonna survive.

Well, she got the face she deserves.

R6 The exciting life she's led (or is it 'lead?' I'll let the DL spelling/grammar queen decide on proper usage)

But she won't survive her chainsmoking and old age. She's going to die, R8, like everybody else. Sad she let her addiction ruin her voice.
And it's "led." Any 8th grader would know that.

Whoever gilded her eyes like that and did that hair (she is partly paralyzed) ought to be arrested for elder abuse.
Notice her hands aren't on him.

It’s better than the alternative?

Ah, the "drugs, sex and rock n' roll" generation
I had such a crush on this guy

Mike Boogie looks pretty good here.

I don't even think that's a recent photo. Might be from two years ago.

I doubt Joni will make it to the end of 2021. She's lucky she is even still alive.
If COVID gets to her she is gone.

Well bless them! They had their indulgences, but are still around. I can only wish this much for myself.

Part of the sadness of anyone's life is judging by appearances.

R17 The thing is Joni doesn't look well at all. She survived a horrid stroke a number of years ago I believe.
Saw an interview with her in the very very early 00s and she looked great but she appears to have been really ravaged by some medical tragedies, none of which diminish her talent or importance on musical history.
One of the greatest singer/song-writers of the 20th century. But it is very sad to see her in far from the best of shape.

I don't know much about Joni, but from what I've read, she's been bitter for decades at a perception that her talents were never properly recognized. And along the way there was a reuniting with a daughter she gave up for adoption - how did that go in the long run? - I'm thinking not well. And then the stroke which sounds horrible.
The pic with James is touching, and Joni shows the ravages of time, bitterness and a weariness that we haven't experienced, and decline after the health problems of the past few years.
I hope she's living comfortably (physically) and contentedly.

They both look great for their ages and have some pretty fab memories. Nothing to be sad about. Nothing at all.
