R29/OP, if memory serves (I read a book, maybe by Sharon Rocha?? Maybe Frey’s book?) where there were tapes of Scott’s mom calling Sharon a fucking bitch in the immediate aftermath of Laci’s disappearance. The family publicly stated that Scott had been caught in huge lies, so what other lies did he tell them? So his mom and dad were vile, cruel, mean, and vicious because Sharon and her husband *dared* to call out Scott’s lies. Very GQP-akimbo level hatred. Both his parents, both of them, just oozed hatred on a slow-burner. I also recall something about an orphanage, I think his mother Jackie was abandoned and suffered other traumas that turned her into almost a black widow, just a real piece of work. But the dad was a total snake too! Both the parents helped him try to escape justice, I’m actually surprised they weren’t charged with aiding and abetting. I think he has one sister who turned on him, of course Jackie immediately ostracized her. Sharon and Laci’s brother are both truly courageous people.

Another thing I remember about Sharon is her being quite open about what a diva Laci was....apparently she could never stop talking, to the point that Scott would silently go into a bathroom to escape, and Laci would stand outside the door, oblivious as can be, chattering on and on and on and on. Sharon was very objective about her, she recognized that being married to Laci was likely at times difficult, but her outrage was that, why couldn’t he just divorce Laci? He could have walked away, but had no mercy.

Another Laci detail, she was reeeeeeeally into Martha Stewart, this is when MS was new and a huge deal. Laci was a domestic perfectionist; not easy to deal with in a spouse. I also got the sense that Laci wanted a certain lifestyle, and Scott couldn’t give that to her. All this to say, whatever I read about Laci, her family succeeded in humanizing her to me. Laci was a true frau in every sense of the word — but she also had no greater sin than anything you or I have ever done. She was difficult, but also tried really hard to be a good wife, and in the last month, she clearly knew Scott didn’t love her, and she was carrying his child with that knowledge — it really is a tragedy. Which made Scott’s choice crystal clearly evil.

Yes, I also agree, he’s smoking hot. Fortunately, I have his stupid voice in my head too, so I resist the monster. He’s like a shell. On the outside, he looks like a sexy, chubby preppy. On the inside? It’s just empty, hollow.
