Is Jerry Seinfeld that funny anymore?
James Williams
I suspect that a lot of his "comedy" may have stemmed from Larry David, but lately I am getting the impression that he is neither funny nor relevant. And on top of that, I don't think he's aging well at all. I enjoyed Seinfeld, the TV series, but I really don't think he'll see those days again.

"Anymore," OP? On his own, Seinfeld was NEVER funny.

Lee Radziwill didn't think he was funny either.
That's why she didn't sell her hamptons house to him.

NEVER IS
NEVER WAS
FUNNY AS A CORPSE'S ASS GAS

Never really funny without the good writing by Larry David. Only amusing as part of an ensemble. JLD and the guy who played Kramer and evenGeorge Costanza were much funnier.

Never funny and that show was like having to chew on broken glass. Never understood its appeal and didn't realize until much later that the other cast members were actually funny and talented once the show ended and they moved on.

He doesn't seem like a very likable person at all. He was recently on Entertainment Tonight Canada saying how Rosanne shouldn't have been fired from her show. That right there alone makes him an asshole in my book.

In wondering how he got away with diddling a high school student.

Who cares, his chest is quite a sight.

Arrogant guy (from watch his Comedians in Cars show). But actually I do think he is aging rather well. He's about 61 and looks decent. His hair is thinning but that's pretty normal. And no I don't think he's very funny. Larry David is a comic genius IMO however.

DIdn't he have a sexual relationship with a 17 year old?

Vintage gossip: “Seinfeld, Jerry. Comedian who is humorless about his penchant for young/under-age women. Former $cientologist. Linked with Tawny Kitaen and Gwyneth Paltrow.”
And his wife is a cunt.

As others have said. He benefited from being surrounded by genuinely funny people. He was an awful actor.

I've actually never seen an episode of Seinfeld, nor have I seen a video of him, but, at least in photos I've seen, he is aging well. I never thought he was good looking until he got older. He's got a nice chest? That would be a surprise.
Re his saying that Rosanne shouldn't have been cancelled. The USA Today headline was misleading. If you read the article, he said that they shouldn't have bothered cancelling her, because she was already dead, and it should have been declining ratings and fallout from her statements that should have doomed her, not getting an ax from a liberal company. I don't entirely disagree. Getting axed made her a martyr of sorts to the right, whereas she would have just looked like a lose if the show tanked as a result of disgust over her comments.

Jerry is a very funny comedian. Not a good actor.
| by Anonymous | reply 16 | July 4, 2018 11:54 PM |
I saw him at Mohegan Sun in CT a few years ago and didn't find him funny. The only joke I laughed at was one I already knew.

My parents certainly think so. But, they're practically senile.

He's actually talked about how emotionally stunted he is. I think he said he was an only child, his parents were older when they had him, and they were relatively cold, not that outwardly loving.

HAH, he'll never see 61 again r11, try 64!

He was a fuckable jew a few decades ago.

Loved him since he started on Johnny Carson. Social media is changing comedy. Or perhaps, comedy is evolving?
| by Anonymous | reply 23 | July 5, 2018 12:47 AM |
Seinfeld was two decades ago. What does he do all day long?
| by Anonymous | reply 24 | July 5, 2018 12:54 AM |
Rides in old cars, drinks coffee with other old celebs.

Good question r24--all that money and no "class". Save the whales, clean up the Pacific garbage patch, help save the bees, plant trees--does this guy know he is even on Planet Earth? He spent one summer in Israel when he was young, I think at a kibbutz, and he was stymied as to how much work needed to be done and got done.

He comes across as having a lot of repressed rage IMO. Very rigid, grumpy, whiny, uncompromising. He was on Howard Stern recently. Seemed unfriendly. But then comedians are really supposed to be dark human beings, right? When he was on Larry King at least a decade ago, he really lit into him. He acted like he was joking but you could tell he wasn't.

Hes the luckiest guy in earth. Not funny, hideous to look at and a deformed personality. He'd still be hosting open mics in college towns if it weren't for Larry David. I cannot stand him.

Larry David made him and he was surrounded by very talented actors and writers. Very lucky guy. You can find plenty of Jerry's at most Bar Mitzvah's and weddings in the 5 towns of Lawn Guyland

(shrug) I liked his show and thought it was very funny. The minor characters were all fantastic.
| by Anonymous | reply 30 | July 5, 2018 5:17 AM |
I thought he was good on Seinfeld even if he was the weakest of the four. I've only heard about 20 minutes of his standup. As far as him being a "deformed personality", it just doesn't matter. I don't need him to be my friend.

[quote]He was recently on Entertainment Tonight Canada saying how Rosanne shouldn't have been fired from her show.
Considering he and his cunt went over to Israel and posed for pictures with the IDF, no surprise he would defend a fellow, amoral Zionist turd.

Curb Your Enthusiam made me laugh more in one episode than the entire run of Seinfeld. Larry David is brilliant even though the last couple of seasons of CYE were shit.

Seinfeld has the funniest bloopers of any tv series. Hours of silliness. They obviously had a lot of fun together at the time, Julia was hilarious and adorable and Jerry was very easy going and cute. Nice chest and ASS back in those high waisted 90s jeans too. Seinfeld was a genius series. I grew up on it. I love it.

This doesn't address the OP's question, but I just saw that he was listed as highest earning comedian last year at $65 million.
Interestingly, Louis CK was #3 with around 50 million.

He was never funny, in the least IMO. But for the others on the show it would have been unwatchable.

He is similar to Tina Fey in that he is a great writer but not a very good actor. I'm still shocked at how successful Tina Fey has been.

Yes, a high school student he spotted in Central Park and subsequently picked up. She incidentally was from a wealthy Jewish family who gave their blessing to the relationship but it still fell apart after a couple of years. She later fucked Ben Affleck, became a lingerie designer for, um, well-endowed women, and married well. (Don't ask me why the hell I remember all that.)
I still don't know how he got by with it raising so few eyebrows. She was much hotter than the woman he ended up marrying...maybe that was why: all the male journalists were drooling over her instead of being grossed out.

Seinfeld's stand-up comedy is too tame for me, and I never found his series enjoyable. (I think I watched a couple of episodes and that was more than plenty.)
In contrast, Curb Your Enthusiasm is my all-time favorite comedy series. As an above poster said there are more laughs in one of those single episodes than in all of Seinfeld combined. (And I can say the same with VEEP as compared with Seinfeld.)
