Interracial gay couples
Ava Lawson
I see far more interracial couples, particularly black-white, in advertisements and movies/plays than I ever see in real life.
Does the media hope to cover all its bases by portraying them?

Aspirational advertising. Noone wants to be inbred.

My longest relationship was an interracial one. We really do exist.

Nice to see in print. Wish I’d see more in real life

Interesting, OP. It probably depends on your location as to the ratios of interracial couples, IRL vs media portrayal. I see far more mixed eg White+ S/E Asian, Aboriginal + White, Maori + White, Aboriginal +Maori/ Polynesian, Indian +White, White + MiddleEastern etc IRL (friends, workmates, people around the local suburbs) than on tv in general.

Sort of like how all friend groups on tv are a mix of different races these days, even though that rarely seems to be true in real life. I think it's rather patronizing.

I'm in an interracial relationship, and I see a pretty decent amount where I live. But, I live in a big city, so it's probably common. Where I grew up? Hell no. Where I grew up, any interracial couples were seen with more disdain than same-race gay because, ya know, the supposed horror and stuff.

I'm mixed and my partner is white. Happy to see relationships like ours, showing up more often in the media.

What's the problem? Most straight people see far more gay couples in advertisements and movies/plays than they ever see in real life.

OP - what would be an example of advertisements, movies and plays that reflect real life? The only examples I can think of are advertisements for local businesses produced by the cable company. That's only because the business owners appear in the ads.
