Without statins and metformin Ina would’ve been dead years ago. She promotes the idea that you can eat the types of food she cooks and still not croak prematurely. But she’s rich and could afford her prescription bills and regular detox vacations from all that unhealthy food she cooks.

When she's not on camera and just making food day to day, she probably eats a ton of processed foods, hence the weight and gastrointestinal problems. I can totally see her and Geoffrey sitting on the couch eating a tub of Haagan Daz laughing at Amber Alerts.

Do you think there's a specific reason why she can't hang on to female friends? Watching the old Barefoot Contessa shows, she often talks about her close friends and we later find out they aren't speaking. I don't think she and Martha are friends anymore either. Barbara Lieberman was on so many shows and they aren't friends anymore. The only ones she keeps are the gays but TR didn't last.
