...and, sweet Christ, Dana Plato can't act.

I was friends with Dana in Jr high.

r2, she was really one of the nicest people in school. Truly.

She could suck a mean cock though. Taught by the best...Charlotte Rae.

Fuck, now Janet Jackson is "singing"

I vaguely remember watching Different Strokes as a kid in the early 80s and thinking she was super pretty. Then she got booted off the show for getting pregnant out of wedlock. I remember being sad when her character wasnt on anymore.

If that happened today they would just write the baby into the script and make her an unwed mother or something.
I mean they were rich, it's not like they couldn't have afforded to take care of a baby.

She came back to show on a recurring basis, the last season and a half. I remember Conrad Bain talking about her telling him she got pregnant on purpose.

She had good comic timing.

Todd Bridges was one of the better child actors ever

She was hot when she came back after having her baby. That bulimia episode when she's in the swimsuit. Mmmm

I heard someone interviewed once who said she was barely literate. Her set guardian would read the lines to her and help her memorize them.
This does not surprise me.
I agree with the poster who said Todd Bridges was a good actor. He did some really good stuff on The Waltons and Little House. It's a shame he isn't more successful. His TV girlfriend could not act. She just used to whisper her lines in a flirty tone. She obviously didn't learn much from the three powerful ladies on Good Times.

I agree Todd was a good actor. He's been able to hold it together so good for him for surviving.

That tone is called "whispercoo", R13. It is Trademarked by DL.
| by Anonymous | reply 15 | October 12, 2020 3:16 AM |
Kind of surprising that Todd Bridges is the one who is still alive. With his early criminal and drug history, I thought he'd have been the first to go.

Not-so-Fun Fact: Everybody knows that Dana died of an overdose one day after appearing on The Howard Stern Show. Not sure if it was ever established if it was accidental or suicide.
What a lot don't know is that her son committed suicide a few years ago. That's really sad.
Someone could so a thread listing the celebrity fall-out tragedies after the original: Dana Plato's son, Whitney Houston's daughter, Anissa Jones' brother....all suicides.

OP, you misspelled "the entire cast of '227' as 'Dana Plato.'
| by Anonymous | reply 20 | October 12, 2020 5:27 AM |
That doesn’t ring true r13 as Dana worked steadily I’m commercials before and after starting diff’rent strokes.
Who squandered her money though? Dana or her mother? Dana was adopted at birth and her mother passed away in the late 80’s and she was an only child. I remember she reconnected with her birth mother for a time but became estranged from her as well.

Facts of Life was so much better
And all the Facts girls are still alive bitches!
Oh and except Jesus Christ and repent for your sins gays!

R22 - I do except Jesus Christ, Lisa.
You fucking fool.
| by Anonymous | reply 23 | October 12, 2020 4:54 PM |
With the exception of Kim Fields, who I adore, I find Dana Plato much more likeable than the Facts of Life girls

She wasn't a great actress but she was likable and photogenic, which is why she was cast.

She also worked well with Bridges and Coleman. It seemed like her character really cared for them and vice versa.

That's Alan Thicke singing the theme song. (He wrote it, too.)
