Iconic surfing brand, Rip Curl, getting backlash after replacing model who lost her arm to a shark attack with a trans boarder
Ava Lawson The iconic wetsuit brand Rip Curl, once a brave little two-man company that kicked off the whole surf industry biz in 1969, flew its queer flag high yesterday with a post celebrating the transgender longboarder Sasha Jane Lowerson neé Ryan Egan.
Rip Curl joined two other Australian swimsuit brands in a pivot to the queer market describing their ambassador as, “West Australian waterwoman who loves the freedom found in surfing, disconnecting from the mainstream, and the feeling of dancing on constantly changing waves… It’s a state of mind, always being ready to try something new, curious to seek out knowledge and learn the rules – and break them.”
Nine months ago, Sasha Jane Lowerson made history when she became the first transgender surfer to compete at a WSL event, the Manly Classic, a one-day longboard contest She is a robust forty-six-year-old strawberry blonde with terrific arms who blossomed into chemical-induced womanhood in 2020.
It comes just months after Rip Curl dropped former brand ambassador Bethany Hamilton - one of the world's most famous surfers - reportedly over her opposition to transgender people competing in women's sport.
Ms Hamilton, who lost her left arm in a 2003 shark attack but returned to professional surfing, threatened to boycott the World Surf League in February last year after a ruling allowing trans athletes to compete in women's competitions.
Rip Curl is just the latest Aussie brand draw the ire of fans over gender issues, after Seafolly was slammed last year for working with non-binary influencer Deni

“Robust.”
Leaving aside the fact that the word has never before been used in praise of a real woman who wasn’t being judged on how well equipped she was to carry and birth multiple children, it’s a delightful word.

Love Bethany Hamilton. Arms are crucial for balance while surfing; she's one tough broad. It's too damn bad Rip Curl has dropped her over this ridiculous social mania.

Well they usually don't R1, they can't wank as easily to seeing themselves in lingerie.

Hans Christian Andersen's story, "The Emperor's New Clothes," is often read as a cautionary tale regarding groupthink.

A recent meta-analysis of individuals attending clinical services reported prevalence rates <4.6 individuals per 100,000 (6.8 for trans women (MTF) and 2.6 for trans men (FTM) per 100,000, respectively).
2-4x more likely to be a MALE transitioning. Just like religion co-opted the Savior of your soul as a male Jesus. Fuck that shit.

I don't understand the strategy around this. As if there's some big untapped trans surfing community dying for representation that will increase their sales.
To add insult to injury, they purposefully replaced the woman who spoke out against trans competing against bio women WITH a trans woman. That's politics. That's being petty.
They act like the handicapped surfer who spoke out was calling for the death of trans or for discrimination. It's not discrimination to not want former bio-men to compete against bio-women.

Just stop trying to make the American public accept trans women as real women. You'll deservedly go broke.

What a surprise. She's won titles as a man and a woman in her home country of Australia.

Almost all are hideous, to the point of scaring children and animals, these people are walking among us. Most aren't actually transexuals, still jacking that lady dick.

Rip Curl has deleted the post and mentions of the guy.

. A woman was replaced by a man pretending to be woman, this is beyond insulting to actual women who work hard to earn respect in sports and whatever crumbs they can get from endorsements.
The trans cult is cruel and seeks to silence any dissent.

Seriously, how many trannys and enbys are gonna surf? They gonna start GoFundMe's to buy boards?

Just create trans categories already and stop fucking over women.
If men pretend to be women in women’s events, women should be allowed ‘roids.

Hamilton is a rather extreme Christian, so her motives don't arise solely from the interest in keeping the playing "field" level and competition fair for biological women. I think Martina Navratilova is a far better ambassador for this cause.
Damn, the picture at r14. There's such a sizeable chunk of MTF who make absolutely no effort to appear feminine beyond growing their hair out. At least try, or pretend harder.

Thst's their problem. Trying and/or pretending to be a woman doesn't usually fool anyone. In this case, yoy could be blinded and still sense the male.

If my arm had been bitten off by a shark, yet I still survived, I might become a God botherer too. Let's not completely discount someone's opinion over their religious beliefs.

Isn’t a one armed female shark victim who can still get on that board and surf a more stunning and brave human than…this guy? 🥴🦈
