Hota Kotb, 58, returned to the TODAY SHOW this morning, after a three week unexplained absence. Hoda said she had a 'family emergency' in which her 3 year old daughter was hospitalized in the ICU for a few days, and then the hospital for over a week, but she is home now.

"I'm so grateful she's home. She is back home. I was waiting for that day to come. And we are watching her closely. I'm just so happy."

Again, 58 year old Hoda had a health emergency with her three year old daughter - not her granddaughter.

She will be 59 in August with children under five. Ridiculous - yet no one told her how ridiculous this is when she was adopting these two babies ? No one had an honest sit-down with her and said, 'you may be too old for this' ? Is it because she has money so she was able to get what she wanted ?

If the public finds Hoda acceptable as a 58 year old mother to two toddlers, then I guess Streisand (in her 80s) playing 'Mama Rose' in the movie 'Gypsy' is very acceptable and believable. Streisand isn't crazy for wanting to play the role of mother to children in their 20s at the age of 80 - she is being trendy.

Hoda was a keynote speaker at a women's 'business positivity retreat' at my college a few years ago. She drew a large crowd, and was very dynamic onstage. Once she was done, she retreated into her bubble and didn't really engage with anyone at the event (other speakers, admins, guests, etc). I believe she skipped the dinner that night, too, which was to honor the three key note speakers. She was paid quite a bit of money, too.

In the past, Suze Orman, Geena Davis, Mika Brzensky, and a number of other celebrities have been the KNS.

Who cares is she adopted two kids in her 50s? She can give them a good home.

Lots of older people, sometimes poor, end up raising their grandkids. What counts is that the kids are loved and cared for. Youth does not guarantee a person is a good parent. If it did the foster care system would not be overloaded.
