Has CBD oil helped you?

Writer Ava Lawson

I finally got some Green Gorilla cbd oil. It was 100 bucks for a small bottle which lasted two weeks with the way I was using it. I started sleeping soundly at night for the first time in years. It improves my overall mood and sense of well-being and I have GAD so it's a big improvement for me. It seems to quiet my incessant brain chatter and short circuit my crippling anxiety. I ordered Charlotte's Web cbd oil and that's taking for fucking ever to get here. Almost two weeks since I ordered it and it's not here yet. I should have gotten expedited shipping.

Anyone else have any luck with cbd? I read that vaping in the best route so I may try that next.

by Anonymousreply 96May 5, 2020 11:27 PM

Is it really worth they high cost?

by Anonymousreply 1October 28, 2018 6:31 PM

How strong are the effects? You can buy capsules here (in the UK) which are either 2.5% or 5%.

by Anonymousreply 3October 28, 2018 6:46 PM

R3, they are extremely subtle. Absolutely no high, just a change in my state of mind is more like it. And sound sleep with no more pills needed to fall asleep. THC is not my friend so I finally got cbd. I'm not positive on the percentage. I've already thrown the box away. One pump was 4 milligrams. Recommend dose was 5 pumps coming in at 20 milligrams for the total dose but I was finding help with my issues at 60 to 80 mg a day instead of 20. Everyone is different. I'm going to experiment with 100 mg a day when my CW arrives.

by Anonymousreply 4October 28, 2018 7:07 PM

Please keep us informed, OP.

by Anonymousreply 5October 28, 2018 7:11 PM

Several friends are trying this for sleep problems as well and they are all reporting benefits, though of course a certain percentage is the placebo effect.

by Anonymousreply 7October 28, 2018 7:16 PM

I'd be interested in using it for anxiety (specifically social anxiety).

by Anonymousreply 8October 28, 2018 7:17 PM

I've tried it but, given the cost, I wasn't taking very much so I saw no benefits. It's also hard to choose a reputable brand as it's completely unregulated.

by Anonymousreply 9October 28, 2018 7:20 PM

I'm aware of the placebo effect but I do not think that's what is going on with me. For me to be sleeping and having a "quiet" brain meaning no chatter or anxiety is astounding. But you know what? Even if is a placebo, I'll take It. Because this is life changing progress for me.

R9, I get that. That's why i plan to try them all eventually. The cost is a bitc h but I'm guessing that will go down soon. It's still new.

by Anonymousreply 10October 28, 2018 7:22 PM

I’ve been using a couple of brands, both Non-THC and some with traces of THC. The brands with traces of THC work better for what I’m using it for but I haven’t noticed any anti-anxiety effects. I DO know that even if you’re using oil with trace amounts of THC, you WILL fail a standard drug test if you take the oil several times a day (as most people do) There have been several people thinking they’re in the clear, only to fail random drug tests in the US.

by Anonymousreply 11October 28, 2018 7:25 PM

I tried it for sleep and anxiety. Didn't feel any effects from it unfortunately. As mentioned because it's not cheap and it's hard to know who has the best product. I'm hesitant but open to trying it again. I did go with a site that received very good reviews. Can't remember if it had any traces of thc. I did not want any so my guess is little to none.

by Anonymousreply 12October 28, 2018 7:43 PM

OP, have you tried, "Calm"? It helps me with anxiety and sleep and it's a lot cheaper than CBD.

by Anonymousreply 13October 28, 2018 8:34 PM

It is not new, being marketed as the "wonderdrug" is new. There is already an MLM for CBD.

by Anonymousreply 14October 28, 2018 8:38 PM

So, Who makes the highest quality CBD products?

by Anonymousreply 15October 28, 2018 9:58 PM

My cat with renal failure is very nauseous. Was wondering if anyone has, or knows of anyone treating their pets for nausea and loss of appetite.

by Anonymousreply 16October 29, 2018 12:36 AM

Petmd says it is, R16. Problem is the dose. Do some research. I know there are a lot of dog products now with cbd. OP, if you're on the state's, you can get cbc at any good vitamin store.

by Anonymousreply 19October 29, 2018 1:05 AM

R18 cbd is cannabidiol and gad is generalized anxiety disorder

by Anonymousreply 20October 29, 2018 2:57 AM

R13 I have not but I sure will. Thanks.

by Anonymousreply 21October 29, 2018 2:58 AM

It's a bit pricey so I want to make sure I'm buying the good well tested brands.

by Anonymousreply 22October 29, 2018 10:39 PM

R21/OP, go easy on it at first or you will be shitting your brains out. Magnesium is a natural laxative. It says a dose is 2 teaspoons, but that sent me running for the bathroom.

I hope it helps.

by Anonymousreply 23October 29, 2018 11:02 PM

Don't do any fire-eating after taking magnesium, otherwise you may turn into a sun.

by Anonymousreply 24October 29, 2018 11:03 PM

[quote] sound sleep with no more pills needed to fall asleep.

Try ASMR videos on YouTube, OP. They knock me out each time. Caveat: not everyone is ASMR-sensitive.

by Anonymousreply 25October 29, 2018 11:06 PM

My Charlotte's Web oil has arrived and i ordered cbd dabs last night. I'm really excited about that.

by Anonymousreply 26October 30, 2018 5:15 PM

Bump—op, I’m taking the sane cbd as you. How’a it going?

by Anonymousreply 27November 3, 2018 10:34 PM

I vape OP. CBD dominant strains help with getting some sleep, anxiety and my osteo-arthritis that I have in my knees. When i don’t feel like vaping I use a CBD cream on my knees. I rarely have pain unless i work out at the gym too hard or take very long walks. Pain is gone and i have so much more flexibility in my knees after using the cream.

by Anonymousreply 29November 3, 2018 11:10 PM

R27 I'm almost through with Charlotte's Web cbd oil (via a dropper) and Green Gorilla cbd spray wins this round. By far. The dropper is messy and the product isn't as good for my sleep and anxiety. I'm also in the middle of testing cbd dabs through Pure. Blueberry OG. I won't get it again because it's much too harsh on my lungs and throat. The effects just candy tho. My next route will be cbd vape pen. Cbd is for sure my friend. Thc can suck it.

R29, thanks for telling me that. My husband has a bad knee. I'm going to get that cream for him.

by Anonymousreply 30November 4, 2018 6:03 AM

Effects are just dandy i meant.

by Anonymousreply 31November 4, 2018 6:04 AM

R29 what strains do you find the most helpful for sleep and anxiety?

by Anonymousreply 32November 4, 2018 6:08 AM

Does this stuff do anything for dysmythia or high-functioning chronic irritable depression?

by Anonymousreply 33November 4, 2018 8:05 PM

What has it done for you specifically? You've only been taking it less than a week, right?

by Anonymousreply 34November 4, 2018 10:13 PM

Why not just smoke weed?

My brother wants me to try cbd as he’s found it very helpful, but it costs way more than a bag of dope.

And unlike Helen Lawson, I go in for dope.

by Anonymousreply 35November 5, 2018 2:28 AM

R16 go to target and go to the heartburn aisle and buy some famotidine tablets. I’d get the 10 milligram and cut it in half. My cat has stomach cancer and I’ve been giving that to her for years, it really really makes a difference. It is absolutely positively safe for them as well.

by Anonymousreply 36November 5, 2018 2:52 AM

I feel calmer. So far, I’m liking how I feel. The homophobia on Datalounge doesn’t bother me as much. I’m liking CBD.

by Anonymousreply 37November 5, 2018 11:58 PM

Put this on your music player, put on some headphones, and do this before you go to bed. Use your own brain and its power. Fucking CBD oil. They must see you coming a mile away. You'd release more sleep chemicals in your brain by just jerking off before you go to bed.

I bought the non-the CBd oil as I hate being drugged. It cured my severe back pain immediately and never came back. The scares the shit out of me so I will not use it. Cbd oil is a miracle. I got mine at madmen, it was 70 bucks for one ounce and well worth it.

by Anonymousreply 40November 6, 2018 12:09 AM

^^^^THC Is what I despise. Hate marijuana or any drug. CBD is a miracle but find a good brand.

by Anonymousreply 41November 6, 2018 12:11 AM

I use Lord Jones cbd tinctures and gumdrops. Beaucoup expensive but it works. I have seen an improvement with mild eczema, improved sleep, elevated mood, pain relief from arthritis, and lessened anxiety, which I have on a daily basis since Trump became president. I was a nurse for forty years and not easily impressed with the latest fads but the only things I have in my medicine cabinet for pain and general health other than Vit D gummies is baby aspirin and CBD. I put it in tea, juice, smoothies. Anything that goes well with peppermint and lemon which are the flavors the tinctures come in. The gummies are tasty and come in different flavors. I know it's working when I get the urge to sing and dance to the radio. I also love cannabis but supply is dependent on black market sellers and this is legal.

by Anonymousreply 42November 6, 2018 12:21 AM

Marijuana isn't a "drug", r41. Stop dispensing falsehoods.

by Anonymousreply 43November 6, 2018 12:24 AM

How much CBD should you take? I take 30mg now for anxiety, depression, and joint pain.

by Anonymousreply 44November 6, 2018 12:24 AM

What’s a good CBD cream?

by Anonymousreply 45November 6, 2018 12:24 AM

I take one dropper of the Lord Jones tincture, which is 20mg, once or twice a day. The Lord Jones gummies are also 20mg. This is considered a high dose but if 30mg works for you then go for it. I myself wouldn't take more than 40mg a day because the effects last a few hours and serve my needs. Lord Jones sells a topical lotion that gets rave reviews but is also expensive. I swear I don't work for the company just impressed with their products;)

by Anonymousreply 46November 6, 2018 12:29 AM

R43 THC is a powerful psychoactive drug, and it can be damaging to many. Marijuana should be legal but not to people under 25.

Many plants are to be viewed with respect and not used for 'fun.' Pot seems to be the most disrespected plant on earth....it is a gift from nature and not to be abused for a laugh.

by Anonymousreply 47November 6, 2018 12:34 AM

Bob Marley would have agreed with you that Marijuana is a sacrament but he didn't die from a ganja overdose, r47. And there is no empirical data to suggest that pot is damaging to "many". On the contrary. I get that you have a metaphysical approach to herbology but you need to stop promoting the same tired tropes about pot being dangerous. Just STAAP.

by Anonymousreply 48November 6, 2018 12:55 AM

I just started using CBD oil for my dog, treating food allergies. No THC. It appears to be working well, but I'm still playing with the dosage. The one oz. (200 mg) bottle with dropper cost $38.33 including shipping, which took 9 days. Product name is Source and I bought it online from Dogs Naturally. Directions say 1/2 dropper, once or twice a day, which is about 20 drops per 1/2 dropper. She's a small dog; a larger dog would need a full dropper.

I changed her diet to non-wheat products, reduced her portions of chicken and beef from my dinner (common dog allergies) and today didn't put any CBD in her food. She is showing no allergy reactions--scratching. As soon as I find a reason to use the CBD oil on myself, I will try some from my dog's bottle. If the cats get sick, I'll use it on them as well. If you Google CBD oil for dogs, or cats, or pets, you should see several different brands.

by Anonymousreply 49November 6, 2018 1:02 AM

I live in New York, is this legal to buy here? You don’t need to get it from a dispensary? Is it psychoactive or did they remove those chemicals? Is there any mind altering effects? I’m terrified of tripping, I had a bad experience with weed many years ago and never touched it again.

by Anonymousreply 50November 6, 2018 1:11 AM

R23 adjust your dosage of Magnesium and you’ll be fine. I take it every night for relaxing sleep.

by Anonymousreply 51November 6, 2018 1:16 AM

CBD oil is legal in all States in the US. There is no THC in it. It is also dervied from the hemp plant (the non-THC cousin of marijuana) .and as long as it is grown and harvested in the US, it's legal.

by Anonymousreply 52November 6, 2018 1:17 AM

Oh. Well, then how do we know it really works? It could be the new fish oil.

by Anonymousreply 53November 6, 2018 1:26 AM

R23 and others mentioning Magnesium, your use is very beneficial. Not only does it relax you, it also relieves cramps and performs over 300 actions in the body. Water, vitamin D3 and magnesium are extremely important to the body, yet most people are deficient in them. I don't like most of the foods that have magnesium I them, so I supplement it. You should take 420 mg of magnesium every day. I use 500 mg daily. You can buy a mineral combo of Calcium, Magnesium and Zinc tablets at any pharmacy or food store and they're cheap. Also add some Potassium to your diet. It's cheap, too!

by Anonymousreply 55November 6, 2018 1:28 AM

Use it for my rescue poodle, he came to me w a twisted leg . His leg supposedly broke as a pup and was never set. Anyway he is older and has arthritis from the leg. The CBD oil has loosened his muscles and gave him renewed vigor.

It can’t be placebo since he does not know what he is taking and all of my family notice a big difference.

by Anonymousreply 56November 6, 2018 1:35 AM

The only way you can purchase CBD with THC is in states where pot is legal. CBD that is legal is derived from the hemp plant and will not get you high or make you trip. You will notice a subtle change in mood, in a good way, relief from anxiety, and short term relief from pain or stiffness in your joints. No pun intended. The only way you will know if it works is to try it. Man up. You are making yourself anxious obsessing about side effects that don't exist. For most people. If you live in New York you can order from companies that sell on-line. Several are listed in this thread. Or google reviews for CBD products. Be a grown-up.

by Anonymousreply 57November 6, 2018 1:46 AM

R56 Great point about dogs giving us results on the efficacy of CBD. I bought it to replace an expensive drug the Vet prescribed and sold to me called Apoquel. It has side effects, just like human drugs, that will weaken and make the dog sick, as well as shortening its life. I would suggest using CBD in place of any drug, if it will improve the condition you are treating.

by Anonymousreply 58November 6, 2018 1:47 AM

So, for the uninitiated, where do you buy CBD oil without THC? Specifically in a state where pot is still illegal and there are no dispensaries.

by Anonymousreply 59November 6, 2018 1:53 AM

If you Google: who sells CBD oil near me, then you will get a map and a list of vendors. If you want to buy it online, Google: who sells CBD oil online? It's that easy, even in Texas.

by Anonymousreply 60November 6, 2018 1:59 AM

R58 Apoquel is for allergy relief. You think CBD oil will help your dog's allergies? You're a fucking idiot.

by Anonymousreply 61November 6, 2018 2:10 AM

R58 I am new to DL and quite astonished how people make comments such as yours without backing them up with scientific proof. Then, calling me a sophomoric name. I guess if it boosts your ego...

The CBD is part of a reconditioning program to reduce anxiety, as well as change the diet. I have seen the results with my dog. I also read a couple of articles I found when I looked up Apoquel to learn more about it. One was titled, "Once you read this you'll never give Apoquel to your dog again." As an option, they wrote that CBD was the best alternative. Seeng is believing. I believe that article was at the Dogs Naturally site.

by Anonymousreply 62November 6, 2018 2:37 AM

CBD will make you psychotic, like too much meth.

by Anonymousreply 63November 6, 2018 2:43 AM

Why R63? Someone already said it’s made from hemp, not cannabis and doesn’t have THC.

by Anonymousreply 64November 6, 2018 2:46 AM

CBD is an anti-psychotic and is being used to treat people with psychoses. Including people who have developed a psychosis from using marijuana with THC.

To clear up the other falsehood, drugs like meth (and THC) are only triggers to people who are genetically susceptible to psychosis. Many people (the majority, actually) even those who have been heavy meth users show no signs of psychosis.

Anyone have experience lowering blood pressure with CBD?

by Anonymousreply 68November 6, 2018 3:25 AM

Hopefully it will go down in price to help those on fixed income. It was the most miraculous thing for me. I was in AGONY that no Alleve could help. I thought 70 bucks was too high until I was cured. Now I think what a bargain it is.

Peace to you all.

by Anonymousreply 69November 6, 2018 3:25 AM

^^p.s. I went to Medmen which was a weird experience and they only take cash. It is safe in there and has great security but you have to show your ID card and they put it on file. It's quality stuff though.

by Anonymousreply 70November 6, 2018 3:30 AM

did anyone answer the question of where you can buy the cream? I can only find oil online,

by Anonymousreply 71November 6, 2018 5:37 AM

Some of you just scroll through the thread asking the same questions without reading the replies. LORD JONES, an on-line vendor of quality CBD products, sells a lotion that gets rave reviews. It is costly like most CBD products. This stuff is not cheap. Google LORD JONES and it will bring up the link to their website.

by Anonymousreply 72November 6, 2018 10:33 AM

Do you live in New York, r70? Medmen recently opened it's first store in Manhattan to sell medical marijuana. I suppose that will give them a leg up to be the first in line to sell legal weed in NYC. You don't have to go to a MM dispensary to buy CBD. Many reputable vendors on line. And many offer free shipping. It takes a few minutes to research. Some of you love to complicate your lives.

by Anonymousreply 73November 6, 2018 10:38 AM

Thanks for the info R72...just purchased!

by Anonymousreply 74November 6, 2018 2:54 PM

How do I know any of the people here giving rave reviews for this (snake?) oil aren’t actually paid shills for the various companies? Or some kind of bots?

I don’t. And I’m very skeptical about this product because there’s always some new natural wonder that will cure everything. Look at all the clickbait with the exotic looking fruits and whatnot. “Eat THIS and you’ll never take a blood pressure pill again!”

by Anonymousreply 75November 6, 2018 4:33 PM

R75 It is good to ask these questions. In social media, it seems the majority of people want to control the narrative, right or wrong. I had to correct a couple of comments in this thread last night that were "made up" and false. Having just done some research last week on CBD before buying some, I went to several web sites looking for recurring statements that lended truth.

I also remember the story about the mother trying to get CBD oil for her epileptic child in a state where the oil was at that time illegal where they lived. The pressure on government officials was so great, they made an exception. The follow up stories stated the child's seizures had been reduced to almost zero with CBD. This is only one of many examples.

Replacing a dangerous medication with CBD for my dog beginning last week, showed the same results of relief without the bad side effects. And it's cheaper than the old medication. I am a science writer with millions of views on the internet. What I learned at J school is to research and verify before putting pen to paper. In today's world, I'm afraid too many on the internet are not schooled journalists, take short cuts when writing and are not totally accurate. Anecdotal responses in a messaging forum like DL should be questioned; there are people whose only purpose is to discredit others and disseminate "fake news."

By all means question the information, but take the time to check out "more expert" sources and develop your own conclusions.

by Anonymousreply 76November 6, 2018 5:08 PM

I'm not being paid, and I am not a liar. I just wanted to report back my great experience with CBD.

I was in so much pain I considered suicide, or obtaining opiates. That's how bad it was.

I despise drugs, bring high and the drug culture, so it was unusual for me to seek out medical CBD. I was thrilled to find a tincture with zero THC, so I bought it after asking a million questions.

Not only did it remove my pain, it healed the injury. All for about 70 bucks.

by Anonymousreply 77November 6, 2018 5:14 PM

I have a friend who has a kid with both autism and bi-polar. Heavy. He was on 5 meds and kicked out of school at 13 because the local school system couldn't handle him. (Totally illegal I might add). In desperation she started started giving him hits off her own CBD vape pen at home 1-2 times a day when he would have a tantrum. Calmed him the FUCK down. Now He's down to one medicine and she is successfully home-schooingl him. Happy for her and the kid.

by Anonymousreply 78November 6, 2018 6:10 PM

Try the CBD isolate, OP. It's generally much more cost-effective.

by Anonymousreply 79November 6, 2018 6:27 PM

A question for those of you who know about this stuff:

I had the shingles about five months ago. On my face and in my head and behind my left eye. The blisters scabbed over in a week or so, but the pain has persisted. For the most part, it's not as bad as it originally was and sometimes it’s gone for a day or so. But it’s never far away and when it hits, it’s unbearable. My doctor says it’ll probably be this way permanently. I swear, if I had a gun, I’d have shot myself by now.

I’m currently on a numbing amount of Gabapentin. It makes me very tired and frankly, it doesn’t do much to alleviate the pain of the inflamed nerves. Eventually I’ll try a different medication, one primarily used by epileptics. I forget its name, but I don’t have high hopes.

Would CBD possibly help? It seems to be effective with epileptics and it seems to act as an anti-inflammatory. I’m eager to try anything.

by Anonymousreply 80November 6, 2018 8:47 PM

I have heard that many people with shingles have success with colloidal silver.

by Anonymousreply 81November 6, 2018 8:51 PM

R81 I googled: is CBD effective for shingles. Here is part of what was listed... CBD can help relieve the symptoms of pain caused by shingles as well as reduce inflammation and protect nerve cells. Luckily, patients can find relief from any method of consumption. ... However, these studies suggest cannabis and CBD oil can be a successful treatment for the symptoms of shingles.

There's a lot more there. I suggest you Google the same and read all of the info about it.

Anyone else looking for info about CBD and other health issues should ask a question on Google regarding it specifically.

I just paid $10 for a 75 gr edible to see what was the big deal and hoping it would calm my anxiety but it only made me sleepy for about 20 min.

Snake oil indeed

by Anonymousreply 83November 6, 2018 11:10 PM

It would be just as cost effective to hire a rentboy a month and ride some huge cock. That'll put you in a better mood.

My cousin who has chronic pain used some since a friend of his gave him some, and he figured it would be better than taking low doses of oxy, and he didn't want to get stoned like when he has eaten edibles with THC. He said how nothing happened when he took the CBD oil.

by Anonymousreply 87November 14, 2018 10:14 PM

I have generalized anxiety (which sometimes erupts into panic) and social anxiety/agoraphobia, and the CBD *sort of* helped, I guess. Not as noticeable as taking .25mg of Xanax, though.

But for insomnia, it works. A dropper full under the tongue (hold it there for 90-120 seconds) and I’m ready for bed within a half hour.

by Anonymousreply 88November 14, 2018 11:16 PM

I ordered from CBDispensary.com, by the way, but I also bought a few little bottles at head shops here in NYC. One of the ones from a head shop worked, and one didn’t (and I can’t remember the name of either). A druggie pointed out the best brand to me in a head shop once, but I didn’t buy it. I may go back tonight to get it and will report back here.

by Anonymousreply 89November 14, 2018 11:17 PM

Thanks to this thread, I went to a local store in Cleveland and got a bottle of the full spectrum stuff. Sadly, it’s not really doing any good for my pain. Just makes me sleepy. Oh well...

by Anonymousreply 90November 18, 2018 2:19 PM

CBD gummies are delicious, i take one a day. Iam sleeping better and my high anxiety issues are gone. ........it is pricey, but worth it (a dollar a gummie)

by Anonymousreply 95May 4, 2020 4:51 PM

r83, do you know how much THC/CBD was in your edible? It could have been 1-5 mg, which would have done very little. It was not 75g of THC (sounds like that was the weight of the edible), or you would have been out of your mind.

My sister was going to have surgery on her spine, but got pregnant, had the baby right at the start of the pandemic, so has been in pain since. She was using Lord Jones, but I found a better brand that has a higher amount of CBD 500mg or 1000mg in 2 oz and at a reasonable cost.
