Groupies 1969 documentary
Christopher Lucas
Where does one begin...
This is a documentary about groupies in late 60s rock scene.
It's sometimes funny but really...sad.
Great live performances from 10 years after, terry reid, spooky tooth etc
Some funny moments like the rock musician asking the groupie if she got "the clap"? She answers: she is on "the pen-e-ce-len" and she got lots of pen-e-ce-len.
The gay perez hilton look a like groupie? He is fabulous, darling and he says he wishes he was between "those drums". He clearly has a thing for keith webb who politely turns him and another gay groupie down.
Then there is "Chaz", the asian gay groupie from san francisco. He desperately wants terry reid who politely turns him down not once, not twice, but about 5 times. Even Keith comes to his rescue and tells chaz that terry is still underage....chaz is quick on his feet and says "me too".
Chaz is hilarious and also high and looks like he is dying. It's sad because a guy beat him up and he is bleeding. I thought the band were really sweet to him.
Chaz says "everyone in america is bisexual". A girl groupie can be heard in the background saying "not me". The band tells him they are not gay but they are very polite and kind to him and joke around.
Oh bless his heart. I wonder what happened to him and if he ever got home safely.
I also wonder about Iris. Did Debbie end up killing her?
The quality is bad but it's worth the watch.
I'll give time stamps in the next post.
Note, the youtube video says 70 but it's actually 1969.

I am curious how they all ended up.
Someone said iris was horrified when she saw the doc and that she is married to a guy named zac and they have four children and live in california.

I wouldn't blame her, r2.

R3 She should be happy. She was the most decent and normal groupie and she got out before the drugs did too much damage.

I am wondering what did Ten Years After thought of the 'Groupies' documentary movie. Where they embarrassed by it?
