Greek mythology
Robert Guerrero
What's the point?
I hate it.
Why is this always a Jeopardy category?

OP is clearly a member of the cult of Koalemos.

It's awesome. Archetypes are extremely powerful in human psychology. Your subconscious and unconscious mind is extremely pantheistic, especially behen you have dreams. The Greeks understood that extremely well and Astrology is linked to Greek Mythology. Astrology and Psychology are also linked. Personality traits in the Psychological field borrow from Greek Mythology and Astrology. Unless you are a Holistic person who also values Psychology, Greek Mythology won't mean anything to you.

They deserve a cult! They’re such cute and cuddly bears!
| by Anonymous | reply 5 | June 3, 2021 12:16 AM |
Why do you hate it, OP?
Have you ever studied it?
| by Anonymous | reply 6 | June 3, 2021 9:43 PM |
You “hate it“ because you are an extremely dim-witted lass

I’ve legitimately wondered if there are still people in Greece or Italy who worship the Gods (in a serious manner).
It really isn’t any more “out there” than other major religions.
Any European DL’ers encounter this?
| by Anonymous | reply 8 | June 3, 2021 10:42 PM |
R8. It’s not clear that the majority of ancient Greeks “believed” in a literal sense in the myths (similar to non-fundamentalist modern religions)—there was considerable variety.
| by Anonymous | reply 9 | June 3, 2021 10:46 PM |
That is kind of what I was wondering R9. I’ve met a few Italians who have statues in their home of a few of the Gods, and make token prayers, offerings, etc. to them, but it is more like praying to a saint (IMHO) or finding a four leaf clover.
They kind of go through the motions, but I’m sure they don’t really “believe”.

I don't think they had advanced consciousness of what they were doing. They just did what felt natural to them, but not necessarily comprehending it while they were doing it.

Isn’t an early interest in Greek Mythology a hallmark of the homosexual experience? It certainly was for me!

All I know is the painting of Automedon with the Horses of Achilles is one hot painting.

If you get upset that this is a Jeopardy category, then I would have to assume you don't do well at Jeopardy in general.
Don't be mad you're dumb, OP. Do something about it.

Myths are suitable for adolescents, pagans and anti-scientists.
| by Anonymous | reply 15 | June 3, 2021 11:23 PM |
Sooner or later they will stop teaching these outdated myths, along with, we can hope, with the myths of religion.
| by Anonymous | reply 16 | June 3, 2021 11:41 PM |
Some of you bitches have no sense of history, literature, or philosophy.

I'm interested in documented history, not stories made up by people IGNORANT of physics, chemistry and any kind of science

Okay, you've exposed yourself as a fool, r19. Or a troll.
Good day.
| by Anonymous | reply 20 | June 3, 2021 11:46 PM |
Because the Greeks started everything. They are the cornerstone of Western Civilization.
| by Anonymous | reply 21 | June 3, 2021 11:48 PM |
The Greeks started everything and failed to follow through.

Let's worship Aphrodite
She's beautiful but flighty
She never wears a nighty
But she's good enough for me!

Yeah R19 - you're a complete fool. Go back to school - your ignorance is showing.

I’m loving Amy Farrah Fowler as host. You can tell she loves it all, including Greek mythology.
| by Anonymous | reply 25 | June 4, 2021 3:33 AM |
What's not to love. The Male Greek gods were hot and horny all the fucking time. What gay kid doesnt fawn over all those perfect greek bodies that'll fuck literally everything.
| by Anonymous | reply 26 | June 4, 2021 3:40 AM |
Greek mythology's better than Roman mythology.

I remember once I took a philosophy class. Taken to it's logical ends it disproves almost every religion out there particularly the Abrahamic religions.
| by Anonymous | reply 28 | June 4, 2021 1:25 PM |
It's fun. I like how almost all male gods are bisexuals.
| by Anonymous | reply 30 | June 4, 2021 4:18 PM |
Oh and regards Greek literature - I've read both the Iliad and Lysistrata.
| by Anonymous | reply 31 | June 13, 2021 6:11 PM |
Greek mythology was how gaylings got to see beautiful naked men.
So that's a big "yes" from me.
| by Anonymous | reply 32 | June 13, 2021 6:15 PM |
Many people will always believe in God or gods. It is wired into the human condition. I don't know how people who say it must be gotten rid of think that it can be managed. They couldn't even get rid of the Russian Orthodox church.

R19 is a retard. The Greeks excelled in astronomy, mathematics, architecture, art, navigation, philosophy, warcraft, and the list goes on.
| by Anonymous | reply 35 | June 13, 2021 11:04 PM |
So if the Greeks excelled in astronomy, mathematics, architecture, art, navigation, philosophy, warcraft why did they invent fictional stories?
Who wrote these fictional stories?
| by Anonymous | reply 36 | June 13, 2021 11:08 PM |
I took a class about it last semester.
Imagine my surprise that Loki was such a murdering cunt!

No opera, novels, poetry, movies or anything not documentaries about bugs fucking/how pencils are made for R35.
He hates made-up things.
| by Anonymous | reply 38 | June 13, 2021 11:27 PM |
R13, don't you love the way the wind always blew the cloak over the dude's junk back then?
| by Anonymous | reply 40 | June 13, 2021 11:29 PM |
R36 Greek mythology was written by Homer and Hesiod.
| by Anonymous | reply 41 | June 13, 2021 11:30 PM |
R41 - you're going to have to clarify for OP that you're not referring to Homer Simpson.
| by Anonymous | reply 42 | June 13, 2021 11:44 PM |
R31 You’ve read BOTH of those—WOW!
| by Anonymous | reply 43 | June 14, 2021 12:03 AM |
[quote] Because the Greeks started everything. They are the cornerstone of Western Civilization.
And their stories permeate out culture:
A Trojan Horse A ‘Cassandra.’ An Achilles Heel The Midas Touch A Pandora’s Box “Don’t fly too close the the sun” A pantheon
In the last year, I’ve read two novels set in Greek myth: Circe and ‘A Song of Achilles,’ (both strongly recommended, especially Achilles for the gay crowd), seen two television shows, and played on video game, all based on these old stories. They’re wired in, at this point, and having been raised as a Baptist, I appreciate how flighty their gods are. Zeus never pretends to be anything but a horny old bastard.
[quote] Sooner or later they will stop teaching these outdated myths
I’ve been teaching for fifteen years, and I can tell you: kids LOVE Greek mythology. It ain’t going away anytime soon.
BTW: who are you people equating Greek myth with modern religion? I’m as agnostic as they come and I love Greek myth. I hope you’re trolling.

To many Bible categories on Jeopardy as well.
| by Anonymous | reply 45 | June 14, 2021 12:26 AM |
[quote] LOVE Greek mythology
Why, R44? Are these adolescents excited by the clothes or the sex or the adolescent love of power over slaves.
| by Anonymous | reply 46 | June 14, 2021 12:43 AM |
r45, do you sometimes go out for a walk and if you pass a house with a garden gnome on the lawn ring that person's doorbell and when they answer say "Gnomes don't exist" and then blink at them stupidly until they punch you in the teeth?
I bet you do.
| by Anonymous | reply 47 | June 14, 2021 12:47 AM |
R46. Because they have imaginations—something you apparently lack.
| by Anonymous | reply 49 | June 14, 2021 1:11 AM |
Excuse me, Sumerian housewives started everything r22
| by Anonymous | reply 50 | June 14, 2021 1:16 AM |
I don't understand the prominence of the Greek myths and the Roman equivalents (Dionysus / Bacchus).
I took about 15 credits of art history and it was the only time I ever really got interested in history (how art reflected what was going on at the time).

Yes indeed - remember back in the day if you liked oral sex it was French, if you liked anal it was Greek.
