I feel like there hasn't been a good Clooney thread in a while and I want this to be the first of 2017. Whats his deal. He seems to be more lowkey. Where all the rumors just smoke and fire. Is the man truly the modern day Deen who managed to grow into old age. Will he ever win a leading man Oscar?

He seems to have a good reputation on film sets as being nice to crew members etc. from multiple articles and accounts I've heard over the years. I have no idea if he's gay or bi like so many rumors about his personal life over the years have claimed.
He seems nice (in general) and his surprise splashy marriage/wedding to the international lawyer makes me think--for the first time--that he'd like to expand his career to outside the entertainment industry--possibly to politics or world affairs.
I sadly have no insider knowledge about the guy, but would be interested to hear any insights that others might have.
(On a side note: his dad, Nick Clooney, is a great host (he used to do intros for AMC when they showed Classic movies); it would be great if TCM would add him to their hosting rosters since they seem to have had trouble finding anyone older and experienced in the entertainment industry to fill in for Robert Osborne since he's been absent for health reasons...)

I read a story in a magazine by a woman who dated George Clooney for 3 months. She stated that they would go out partying, go back to his place, go to bed and he would simply fall asleep. During the 3 month period they never had sex once so she finally ditched him. Doesn't really sound like a heterosexual man overall, but I don't claim to know what his orientation actually is.

Yeah, [R20], I'm still interested if anybody has any insider dish, but Clooney seemed to become significantly less interesting once he married the lawyer.
He doesn't seem to do much Hollywood stuff anymore and I've only heard about him in the news when he's shown up at U.N. events--usually in conjunction with the wife.
He seemed to suddenly want to significantly decrease his Hollywood profile after the big, Italian wedding. Not sure why though....

R21, and R23, George "allegedly" has or once had, a pretty serious booze and pain killers issue, and is/was, a heavy smoker. Not sure if he is still getting heavily sloshed, but allegedly, when he drinks, he becomes a very unsociable, and unfriendly guy. Could be the reason he is rarely seen, or perhaps he got help, and stays home.

Interesting, [R25]. In the Sony Leak e-mails, he seemed so invested in people in Hollywood thinking well of him and in his film career doing well. So, it's been so odd that right after that, he suddenly married and disappeared from Hollywood as if he spontaneously stopped caring about the industry.
If the rumors you mention are true, it all might make more sense. Perhaps he's dealing with addiction issues and needs to stay out of the limelight for a while--possibly an extended period.
Regardless of his talent level, he's always seemed pretty devoted to the entertainment business and being perceived well/embraced in it--as clearly seen in the Sony e-mails, so him dropping all that (well, most of that) out of the blue has been puzzling....If he's dealing with various health and addiction issues, that would be reason enough.

I watched Good Night and Good Luck recently and it was pretty good, beautifully shot. All the actors seemed appropriately retro, except for Clooney. He looked it in his big 50s suit and glasses, but the casual speaking voice and manner just reminded me of modern-day George Clooney.

I've never been a big Clooney fan, but "Michael Clayton" is one of the best films of the past 10 years. It was fantastic. Of course, that had more to do with the incredible performances of Tilda Swinton and Tom Wilkinson than Clooney himself.

He's a great guy to work with, extremely conversant on politics, and is more interested in directing and producing than acting. If you saw him in person, you wouldn't be impressed- he has a dad body now. I think he's keeping a low profile because he was not happy about Trump.
I don't see how Amal got pregnant- she doesn't have any body fat on her. It's weird to see her with him and his family- they're all low key and friendly, and she's dressed to the nines with tiny skirts , giant sunglasses and don't-look-at-me-vibe.

His aunt (Rosemary Clooney) was a well-known singer and entertainer, so he grew up in the entertainment business knowing how it interferes in a person's personal life. So he keeps his private life pretty private. Good for him. He's produced some really good movies, and is know to be a great guy to work with. I really don't much care if he's gay or straight, unless the story about him having kids is really accurate.
